1. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part (8/2)
Ever since its announcement in 2014, The Lego Movie has defied expectations, captivating audiences despite being based on a children's toy line from the 1950s. The final film unexpectedly became an outstanding adventure filled with authenticity and incredibly imaginative graphics, garnering immense popularity among cinephiles and grossing nearly 11 trillion dong.
The Lego Movie 2 continues the story in real-time, taking place 5 years after the events of the first installment. Set in a post-apocalyptic Lego world ravaged by a monster, life becomes challenging and bleak for everyone except Emmet. He remains optimistic, cheerful, and greets everyone, even the most fearsome. However, a new threat from space named LEGO DUPLO® emerges, threatening to destroy everything. Despite being hailed as a hero in the previous film, our protagonist is still quite useless and must rely on Lucy or Batman. Consequently, when the enemy demands the surrender of the leader, everyone is captured except for Emmet. This is when he must demonstrate his courage to help everyone.
The Lego Movie 2 continues the humorous and comedic style of the series interspersed with very Lego-like situations. The film has been released nationwide since February 8, 2019.

2. The Curse of La Llorona (19/4)
The first trailer for the upcoming horror film from Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema, The Curse of La Llorona, has been unveiled. The trailer introduces the character played by Linda Cardellini and her two children (Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen and Aiden Lewandowski). As Cardellini speaks with a police officer at a crime scene, a young mother warns her about “La Llorona,” and her children are left behind as supernatural forces begin to target them.
Based on Mexican folklore, the film revolves around the ghostly figure of La Llorona (or “The Weeping Woman”), the spirit of a woman who lost her children and now seeks them near a river where they disappeared. Legend has it that she was a woman with two children and a seemingly perfect life until she discovered her husband’s betrayal, leading her to drown her children in despair. Realizing what she had done, she drowned herself in the river. She is cursed to wander the earth forever, seeking other children to replace her own. Portraying La Llorona's story authentically is crucial for the cast, as many of them claim to fully believe in the ghost.
Director Michael Chaves briefly describes the famous ghost. “If you're Hispanic, you've probably heard this story. It often starts with something like ‘if you misbehave, La Llorona will come for you.’ The story has been passed down through many generations. It scares children for years.” Coming from producer James Wan, The Curse of La Llorona will hit theaters on 19/04/2019.

3. Shazam! (5/4)
It's not hard for audiences to recognize that SHAZAM! will bring a humorous atmosphere throughout after watching the first trailer of the film. Of course, viewers will still witness action-packed superhero scenes, but this may be the most family-friendly film from the DCEU to date.
If one were to watch the SHAZAM! trailer without prior knowledge of the film, it would be difficult to tell that it belongs to the same cinematic universe as films deemed dark and serious like Man of Steel (2014) or Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Zack Snyder. Directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out), the film features the character of Billy Batson (Asher Angel) as the main protagonist. With the magic word “SHAZAM!”, Batson can transform into the mighty superhero Shazam (Zachery Levi), possessing extraordinary strength, super speed, and the ability to fly. However, as hinted in the film's trailer, Billy Batson is initially struggling with the newfound powers. This will lead to many humorous situations in the film.
SHAZAM! is a daring move by DC and Warner Bros. The superhero Shazam is not as famous as Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman. The film studio cannot rely solely on the character's name, and perhaps should avoid taglines like “from the studio that brought you Justice League” to promote the film.
What is more concerning is that SHAZAM! chose to premiere on April 5, 2019. This timing comes after Captain Marvel (8/3/2019) by Marvel Studios, less than a month before Avengers 4 (26/4/2019), also from Marvel Studios. The victory for Avengers 4 can be predicted in advance. And if the female superhero portrayed by Brie Larson creates a frenzy like Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) earlier this year, Warner Bros. and DC might regret choosing such a adventurous release time for SHAZAM!
Nevertheless, the public should also commend the DCEU. Because with the first trailer, SHAZAM! shows that it will certainly be a very different experience that the cinematic universe wants to bring to audiences.

4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (30/5)
It's been nearly 5 years, and now we will reunite with the king of giant monsters, Godzilla, in the new installment, a sequel to Gareth Edwards' 2014 film. Godzilla: King of Monsters is also the third installment in the MonsterVerse cinematic universe created by Legendary and Warner Bros, following Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island (2017). The next film in the MonsterVerse will introduce audiences to Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Godzilla (2014) and Kong: Skull Island (2017) were the first two films in the MonsterVerse. Next summer, the cinematic universe of monsters created by Legendary Pictures will continue to bring Godzilla: King of the Monsters to audiences.
From the after-credits scene of Kong and the first trailer of the new film, audiences know that this blockbuster not only marks Godzilla's return, but also introduces three other monsters: Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. The relationships among the 'quartet' in Japanese kaiju films are extremely complex. And it's not yet clear how the Hollywood filmmaking team will bring about changes in Godzilla: King of the Monsters compared to the original Japanese work.
Recently, the official trailer of the film was released at Comic-Con 2018, and it did not disappoint fans with its grandeur. With four super monsters in hand, the film will create a monumental battle scene with unprecedented scale on the screen. The trailer reveals the story of Monarch scientist Dr. Emma Russell and her daughter Madison being kidnapped by a mysterious monster hunting organization. It seems that the reason is because Professor Emma has the ability to communicate and control the super monsters, making her valuable to these hunters. Next, there's the image of an ice block inside which is a familiar Kaiju, the three-headed dragon king Ghidorad. The city begins to be destroyed, and humanity faces apocalypse when Godzilla appears alongside Mothra to protect the earth.
The film will also focus on the confrontation between Godzilla and King Ghidorad. The other two monsters will appear intermittently in the film to impress the audience with the epic battles between giant monsters.
Although the trailer is brief, the images of the super monsters have excited audiences immensely. The mighty Godzilla appears with full power, using his Atomic breath to emit flames across the sky. The awakening of Rodan from the volcano causes everything to be engulfed in smoke, King Ghidorah's massive appearance is full of mystery, and Mothra is majestic and awe-inspiring. All of this creates a magnificent picture as humanity faces the most terrifying things from nature.
This time, Godzilla will face extremely formidable opponents. We don't know how the battle will unfold, but it's sure to be extremely grand and spectacular, bringing audiences the most realistic images, and moments of suspense. But alongside that, there are also touching moments between human emotions, spouses, parents and children standing between life and death.
This next Godzilla film will also set the stage for the King Kong vs Godzilla project set to be released in 2020, directed by Adam Wingard. Let's look forward to the latest updates on this project.

5. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (10/5)
The new live-action film featuring the beloved Pikachu is causing a sensation with its adorable furry appearance and the humorous voiceover by 'Deadpool' star Ryan Reynolds. Audiences are impressed by Pikachu's cute furry appearance with Reynolds' hilarious and super 'buzzy' voiceover. The trailer introduces viewers to a vision of a world where humans and Pokémon live harmoniously. Many other familiar Pokémon also appear in the trailer, including Charizard, Psyduck, Bulbasaur, and Mr. Mime, all created using CGI effects.
The film's story begins when the father of the main character Tim Goodman, played by Justice Smith, is kidnapped. Tim once dreamed of becoming a Pokémon trainer but failed. One day, he unexpectedly encounters a Pikachu that can speak human language. He must team up with Detective Pikachu to search for and rescue his missing father. In this film, Pikachu speaks English, and only Tim Goodman can understand him. Besides him, others can only hear the adorable Pikachu's 'Pika Pika' sounds. In many Japanese animated versions, Pokémon and humans can understand each other despite language differences, and there have even been a few Pokémon that can speak human language.
Detective Pikachu is based on the popular puzzle-solving game Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo from Japan. The film is directed by Rob Letterman, known for Goosebumps, with a screenplay written by the screenwriting duo Nicole Perlman (Captain Marvel) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls).
Justice Smith is a promising young Hollywood actor, known for his roles in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Paper Towns. Additionally, the film features Katheryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Ken Watanabe, Rita Ora, and more.
The decision to create a live-action version of Pikachu came as a surprise due to the boldness and daringness of this project. It remains unclear which elements from the game's storyline will be retained or removed in the Detective Pikachu film. Many viewers do not have high expectations that the film will surpass the already famous original. However, this is still a live-action project that has garnered significant attention from fans worldwide.
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is scheduled for release on May 10, 2019. Legendary Entertainment will introduce the film to many countries worldwide except Japan. In the homeland of the Pokémon brand, the film will be distributed by Toho, the official distributor.

6. IT: Chapter Two (6/9)
IT: Chapter 2 takes place 27 years after the events of the first installment, so there may be many surprises for audiences regarding the film's details. The members of the Losers' Club now all have their own lives, but they are all forced to return to Derry, Maine because Pennywise has awakened once again.
The main cast will feature two big actors, Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy, while Bill Skarsgard will also return. Jessica Chastain is a perfect choice to play the grown-up Beverly Marsh, and the young actress Sophia Lillis even nominated Chastain herself from the start. Director Andy Muschietti clearly listened to the young girl, and fortunately, Chastain had no issues joining the film.
When asked who should play the adult Richie, young actor Finn Wolfhard suggested Bill Harder. And Muschietti was very accommodating to his young actor, officially casting Harder as Richie, followed by James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, the former leader of the Losers' Club. The remaining members of the group include Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, and finally, Andy Bean as Stanley Uris.
Pennywise, or IT, is an ancient and powerful creature, but for the first time, it was injured by a bunch of kids. Clearly, its psyche will also have many issues, and this film will delve deeper into its past, such as how IT came to the human world, where its power comes from, and how it can survive for so many years. Bill Skarsgard describes delving into Pennywise's mind as a “trip.” Additionally, Pennywise will transform into many new forms, and it may even transform into its most powerful form, the spider-like creature.

7. Annabelle 3 (3/7)
Annabelle 3 has officially wrapped up and will soon meet audiences next year, marking the return of The Conjuring horror universe. The Annabelle doll first appeared in The Conjuring (2013) film. Despite its limited screen time and not being the main antagonist, under the direction of horror maestro James Wan, the haunting image of the Annabelle doll has become a long-lasting obsession for audiences. Alongside Valak, Annabelle is considered the most psychologically terrifying character in The Conjuring film universe.
Currently untitled, Annabelle 3 will be set after Annabelle: Creation (2017) and Annabelle (2014). While the first and second installments were set in the past, the third installment is expected to take place in the present day. This time, the haunted doll will wreak havoc in the Warren family's own home, where they keep many other cursed artifacts, as revealed in The Conjuring (2013).
In the Warrens' secret room, Annabelle begins to animate various inanimate objects, causing them to come to life, and she will use her sinister influence to incite other objects to rebellion. These objects will unleash their demonic powers, posing a danger to the Warrens, especially their young daughter Judy.
The official trailer for the film is expected to be released in the coming months, and the film will hit theaters in the summer of 2019. Let's stay tuned for the latest updates on this project.

8. Doctor Sleep (8/11)
Recently, Warner Bros. officially confirmed the appointment of director Mike Flanagan to helm the sequel to the film The Shining (1980) titled Doctor Sleep. The film is also an adaptation of the novel Doctor Sleep for the big screen. Released in 2013, Doctor Sleep serves as the sequel to the famous horror novel The Shining (1977) by author Stephen King.
The movie follows Jack Torrance, a struggling writer who takes a job as the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel during its off-season. He, along with his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd), become completely isolated in the remote mountain hotel. As terrifying apparitions begin to emerge, Jack gradually descends into madness. Following the events of The Shining, Doctor Sleep follows the adult Danny as he confronts the ghosts of his past and aids a mysterious young girl with psychic abilities. Danny also returns to the haunted hotel from his childhood and encounters the ghost of his father.
Choosing director Mike Flanagan to helm the intriguing horror project Doctor Sleep is a wise move by Warner Bros. Flanagan has a strong track record in the horror genre, having successfully adapted another Stephen King novel, Gerald’s Game, for Netflix.
Doctor Sleep is Warner Bros.' latest horror film project adapted from a Stephen King novel following the box office success of IT in 2017. With a budget of only $35 million, IT grossed over $700 million for the studio. Currently, there is limited information available about this project. The film features seasoned actors Bruce Greenwood and Carla Gugino. The official release date has not yet been announced, but there are rumors that the film will hit theaters on November 8, 2019.

9. Joker (4/10)
After much speculation, acclaimed Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix has finally confirmed that he will portray Joker - Batman's greatest nemesis - in the Warner Bros. film of the same name. Todd Phillips, known for his success with The Hangover franchise, is directing the film, which Warner Bros. considers a bold experiment in the superhero genre.
Regarding the plot, many believe that the film's story will draw inspiration from various sources such as Joke Joke, Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, and will be set in the 1980s. Joker is expected to exist outside the broader DC cinematic universe and may not even feature Batman - Joker's archenemy. While this is a divisive topic among some fans, it presents a fresh and unexpected take in today's superhero film landscape.
With a budget of $55 million and an R rating, Joker promises to diverge significantly from the norms of contemporary superhero blockbusters, which typically boast large budgets, PG-13 ratings, and appeal to family audiences. While exceptions like Logan and Deadpool have found tremendous success, both DC and Marvel are feeling the constraints of the familiar formula, given that superhero films have become a dominant genre in Hollywood.

10. Super Intelligence (25/12)
Hollywood star Melissa McCarthy teams up with her husband, director Ben Falcone, for the fourth time, aiming for the holiday season. In this action-comedy, Carol Peters (McCarthy) suddenly discovers the existence of a super-intelligent artificial intelligence with sinister plans to control human life. She becomes humanity's last hope before it's too late. Currently, Super Intelligence project has few official details beyond its cast and the release date of 12/25/2019.
