Its compound leaves resemble bird feathers, and it bears small white flowers in clustered panicles during April and May. The small, white, spherical fruits ripen in October, splitting into four segments when ripe (usually only found on mature Ironwood trees). The tree's bark is gray-brown and cracks into circular patches like a skull, hence the name 'Ironwood.'

The flame tree, also known as the Yellow flame tree or Yellow Poinciana, scientifically named Peltophorum pterocarpum (DC) Back, belongs to the Fabaceae family. This hardwood tree typically reaches heights of 20 - 30m. Its leaves are compound, bipinnate. The flowers, usually borne at the ends of branches, consist of 5 petals. Flame trees are easy to grow and thrive in Vietnam's climate.
As a typical tropical tree, they are not picky about the soil type and can thrive well in various dry, acidic soils, enduring harsh weather conditions like heat and drought. While flame trees are relatively easy to cultivate, it's advisable to plant them in nutrient-rich soil to support optimal growth. With their evenly round canopy, vibrant seasonal blooms, they are suitable for landscaping, providing shade for streets, schools, hospitals, residential areas, tourist spots, parks, gardens, villas, and more.


3. Milk Flower Tree
Milk Flower Tree is commonly planted for urban landscaping due to its easy cultivation and maintenance. With its wide and dense canopy, it is suitable for shade trees, primarily in parks, schoolyards, residential areas, urban areas, or along streets. Moreover, its beautiful flowers make it a popular choice for decorative purposes in resorts, villa gardens, and more. This park tree typically has an average height of 10-20m, with multiple layers of foliage. Its flowers emit a distinctive scent, slightly intense and often more pronounced at night.
Flowers usually grow in leaf axils or at the ends of branches. The tree is easy to grow, prefers sunlight, has fast growth rates, evergreen leaves, and can thrive in various living conditions. In nutrient-poor soil, the tree may struggle, while in nutrient-rich soil, it grows tall. In urban areas, people often control the height and canopy spread of the tree on sidewalks to provide shade without obstructing views.


4. Golden Shower Tree
Golden Shower Tree, also commonly known as Queen's Crape Myrtle, Chinese Lantern Tree, Yellow Poinciana, or Golden Rain Tree, is the most beautiful and popular urban greenery today. Its leaves are elliptical, about 15cm - 20cm long, dark green with symmetrical veins, with thin white veins protruding from the underside. The flowers of the Golden Shower Tree are pendulous, clustered, with a cluster length of about 30cm - 50cm, yellow in color, growing on the same main flower stalk.
The fruit of the Golden Shower Tree resembles a mango, dark gray in color, about 10cm - 15cm long, with a slightly intense and unpleasant odor. The flowers usually bloom in summer (May - June every year) and at the end of the lunar year. The tree is selected for planting as a shade tree as well as for beautifying the landscape in streets, urban areas, and parks.


5. Crape Myrtle Tree
Bauhinia Tree is a commonly planted tree along sidewalks, residential areas, new urban areas, industrial zones, and factories. Rows of bauhinia trees create a sense of comfort and lightness. Bauhinia trees belong to the woody plant category, with low branching, reaching an average height of 8m - 12m when matured. The tree trunk is smooth and shiny, with a distinctive gray color. Bauhinia leaves are symmetrical, ovate-shaped, measuring 8 - 12cm in length, with slightly bulbous shapes. The white veins of the leaves are prominent, with numerous symmetrical branch veins branching out from the main vein.
Bauhinia flowers typically bloom in June - July each year, with beautiful, elongated clusters of purple flowers that are delicate and easily blown away by the wind. Bauhinia fruits are green when young and turn brown when ripe. The root system of the bauhinia tree consists of deep-seated taproots, penetrating about 1.2m – 1.7m into the ground. Additionally, the wide leaf canopy provides excellent shade, making it suitable for planting in parks or on sidewalks.


6. Taiwanese Maple Tree
Taiwanese Maple Tree is a species that is widely propagated and planted around the world for its role as a shade tree and landscape tree. The Taiwanese Maple Tree has beautiful, compact foliage, short branches that grow diagonally upwards to create a well-proportioned canopy, not taking up much space, suitable for increasingly cramped spaces. Taiwanese Maple Tree leaves are very small, much smaller than those of the native maple tree, and when the tree sheds its leaves, it creates a very beautiful landscape that many people enjoy photographing and checking in.

Tamarind Tree is a perennial tree with many feng shui meanings, planted extensively in large urban areas to beautify parks or courtyards. As a long-standing tree, it branches out from the trunk in many directions, forming a wide canopy. Mature trees have an average height of about 15 - 20m, with a trunk diameter of 40 - 50cm. The trunk is strong, green, turning grayish-brown in old age, and becomes rough. The leaves are simple, elliptical, slightly pointed at the front, with a sharp tip, and mature leaves are dark green. The small flowers come in two colors: bright red and white, emitting a faint fragrance, usually arranged in long clusters hanging gracefully to the ground.
The tamarind tree usually blooms from the 6th to the 8th lunar month. The cross-section is rectangular or circular, with a diameter of about 9 - 11cm. The fruit is green when young, then turns yellow-brown when ripe. The tree has the ability to absorb pollutants from the external environment, release oxygen, create fresh, clean air, reduce stress, and fatigue for everyone.


8. Gardenia Tree
It can be said that the gardenia tree is the perfect choice, a type of ornamental plant that provides shade and brings harmonious scenery to the space. Gardenia is a prominent flower with delicate beauty and impressive colors. Although not as extravagant and seductive as other flowers, gardenia always becomes extremely attractive when it helps garden spaces become dreamy, pure, and full of vitality.
The gardenia tree has many other names such as Wild Gardenia, many-flowered wallflower, Japanese wallflower, or many-flowered pink. Gardenia is a flowering plant native to East Asia, commonly found in China and Vietnam. Phoenix Tree is a familiar type of tree from the childhood of many generations of students. Nowadays, the phoenix tree is widely used in large urban areas in our country. The phoenix tree is a woody plant with white-gray bark, averaging 10 - 20 meters in height. The tree canopy spreads very wide with many branches growing densely. The leaves are compound leaves with double bird feathers. Phoenix leaves are usually green with small but thick sizes, closely arranged together along with many other tree branches, creating large shades. Phoenix flowers usually bloom in clusters with a length of 20 - 50 cm.
The blooming flowers have 5 petals, bright red with slightly wrinkled edges. The largest petal has a special white pattern while the others are orange-red. The phoenix tree can bear fruit, with phoenix fruit being brown, up to 60cm in size, and the seeds inside are entirely edible. Phoenix trees adapt well to tropical and subtropical climates, but due to their water storage ability, they still grow in areas with salty or dry conditions. The phoenix tree is best known for providing shade. Thanks to its wide canopy and thick, closely arranged leaves, phoenix trees are planted in parks, schools, street corners, etc., to create shade.


10. Tamarind Tree
Tamarind is a popular tree used for urban landscaping, making cities green, clean, and beautiful, and is planted extensively on roads in our country's cities, providing shade and a sense of solemnity to the cities. Tamarind belongs to the category of large, long-lived woody trees, with a mature tree reaching a height of 20-30 meters. It has a large diameter and spreads quite widely. Mature trees have black trunks with large peeling or rough patches. Young branches are covered with a brownish fuzz. Tamarind leaves are compound leaves resembling bird feathers, arranged alternately.
The flowers of the tree grow at the apex or near the apex, small flowers are greenish-white or greenish-yellow with 5 sepals, 10 stamens, and soft hairs. The tree blooms around April - May, and after about half a month, it bears fruit. Being a large woody tree with a high lifespan, providing good shade, thick foliage, glossy leaves, beautiful flowers, and convenient fruit harvesting, tamarind is planted in many places to provide shade and harvest fruit.
