3. Blade
Blade is the titular character of Marvel Comics, with Wesley Snipes portraying Blade in the original film trilogy and Sticky Fingaz in the television series. The trilogy was initially directed by Stephen Norrington, Guillermo del Toro, and David S. Goyer, who later also wrote and co-wrote the first two and final episodes of the TV series. The original film trilogy and TV series were distributed by New Line Cinema from 1998 to 2006.
With recent announcements that Mahershala Ali will take on the role of vampire hunter Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of Marvel's famous supernatural heroes is soon to grace the big screen. Although existing in the Marvel universe for 50 years, he truly gained fame when portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the Blade film. After the success of that film, Snipes completed the trilogy of this series, and it was through his brilliantly acted character, Eric Brooks, Blade's real name, that Blade acquired a unique personality. Despite being considered one of the best superhero films, in the comic book universe, Blade is not very prominent, mainly serving as a supporting character rather than the main star. Created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, Blade first appeared in The Tomb of Dracula #10 published in 1973. With a look resembling another famous star at the time, Jim Brown, Blade has supernatural abilities and immunity to vampires, as his mother was attacked by the nefarious vampire Deacon Frost. Therefore, he vowed to use his powers to fight against supernatural forces, including the vampire who killed his mother.
Rebooting within the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it is set to be released on September 4, 2023, as part of MCU's Phase Four, with Mahershala Ali in the lead role.
