3. Vietnam Museum of Ethnology
The museum covers an area of nearly 4.5 hectares and includes three main exhibition areas:
- The two-story building called ‘The Bronze Drum’ displays items from Vietnam's ethnic groups and has been open to the public since November 13, 1997.
- The outdoor exhibition area known as ‘The Architectural Garden,’ spanning around 2 hectares, was constructed from 1998 to 2006 and showcases 10 traditional architectural works from 10 different Vietnamese ethnic groups.
- The four-story building called ‘The Kite,’ which started construction in June 2007 and opened its first exhibition in late 2013, focuses on the ethnic groups outside Vietnam, starting with Southeast Asian nations.
The DTHVN is dedicated to the research, collection, and promotion of traditional games, both Vietnamese and international. Throughout the museum’s many programs, visitors can engage in various folk games. Special events held annually, such as post-Tet celebrations, Mid-Autumn Festival, and International Children's Day, feature folk games for the public. Programs specifically designed for schools, youth, children, and families often include traditional games. The museum also offers tailored folk game activities for schools and organizations upon request.
