3. Bao Dai Villa
Bao Dai Villa, also known as the Cau Da Villa, sits atop a gentle hill overlooking the sea. Locals liken the hill to a green dragon embracing the waters of Nha Trang. The hill is also called Chut Mountain or Canh Long Mountain. At the summit, five villas were built in the classic French architectural style. Each villa is named after the plants that surround them: Cactus, Frangipani, Bougainvillea, Phoenix, and Banyan Tree.
Originally, these villas served as a retreat for scientists working at the Nha Trang Oceanographic Institute. Later, during the reign of Emperor Bao Dai, the two most beautiful villas, Cactus and Frangipani, were designated for the royal family’s use during their visits to Nha Trang.
Today, the five villas have been meticulously preserved and serve as tourist attractions. The villas have been converted into nearly 50 guest rooms. The two rooms once used by Emperor Bao Dai are now designated as special rooms for the emperor and empress, located in the Nghinh Phong (former Cactus Villa) and Vong Nguyet (former Frangipani Villa). The ground floor of Nghinh Phong displays memorabilia and images related to the last emperor of Vietnam, including a large wooden bed made from a centuries-old tree, placed by a window overlooking the sea. It is said that Empress Nam Phuong often sat here to enjoy the sea breeze.
The Canh Long Hill area spans 12 hectares, surrounded by lush greenery. The French-style architecture blends seamlessly with the Vietnamese gardens, creating a poetic and serene atmosphere. During the summer, the cactus thrives, and the frangipani, bougainvillea, and phoenix flowers bloom vibrantly, while the cool breeze from Nha Trang Bay sweeps up the hill, making it an ideal escape.
Many visitors prefer to come during the summer to experience the fresh air and appreciate the delicate architectural design. The villas are designed to harmonize with the tropical climate, with open windows and doors that welcome the breeze and allow natural light to flood in from all directions. Despite being nearly a century old, these villas have retained their unique beauty and continue to inspire architects seeking to design homes that are both eco-friendly and in harmony with their surroundings.

9. Thap Ba Ponaga
Thap Ba Ponagar Nha Trang is regarded as one of the most important landmarks in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa. The Ponagar Tower complex represents the pinnacle of Cham architecture and sculpture. Situated on a small hill, also known as Thap Ba Mountain, at the mouth of the Cai River and along National Highway 1A, this temple complex is located in the northern part of the city. Being in the heart of the beautiful coastal city of Nha Trang, it is a must-visit for most tourists who come to admire this unique architectural wonder.
The Ponagar Tower's architecture consists of three levels. The base level, once home to a gateway tower, has now disappeared. Visitors can ascend stone steps to the middle level, where only two rows of eight-sided brick columns remain, each over 3 meters high and more than a meter in diameter. Alongside these, there are 12 smaller columns, all resting on a raised brick platform. The top level, where the main towers are located, houses the shrine for Ponagar, the goddess of beauty, art, and creativity.
The central tower, built in four tiers, features doors, stone statues of gods, and sculpted animal figures. Inside the tower, a black granite statue of the goddess, standing 2.6 meters tall, sits serenely on a lotus-shaped pedestal, leaning against a large stone slab shaped like a lotus leaf. This masterpiece of Cham sculpture blends both high-relief and round sculptures. Other towers honor the gods Shiva, Sanhaka, and Ganeca.
Every year, during the Ponagar Festival (from March 20-23 of the lunar calendar), the Ponagar Temple attracts thousands of pilgrims. The Ponagar Festival is one of the largest events in Central and Southern Vietnam, celebrating the legend and worship of the goddess Thiên Y Thánh Mẫu Ana, the mother goddess of the Viet and Cham peoples.
