Filled with malice and devoid of mercy, the demons in Kimetsu no Yaiba are the most despicable creatures in anime history.
Although the majority of characters in Kimetsu no Yaiba are demons, their actions make it unsurprising why they're despised by the fandom. They lack any moral standards and exhibit extreme personalities.
10. Akaza
Akaza mocks those he deems weak and vulnerable, including the Flame Hashira. His ambition to become the strongest member of the Kizuki has led to many conflicts with those above him, but Akaza's ignorance and courage turn him into an incredibly impressive character.
After losing to Kyojuro Rengoku, he flees and hides in the darkest corners, causing Tanjiro to be enraged to the point of tears. However, Akaza's efforts to atone before his death have led the audience to perceive him differently.
9. Zenitsu
The sole reason Zenitsu isn't despised by the audience is because he's not a demon, doesn't kill, and doesn't eat humans.
Aside from this trait, Zenitsu is a peculiar puzzle piece in the entire story, especially in his concern for Nezuko, Tanjiro's sister. While he may be manipulated, the truth is Zenitsu is rather cowardly, ill-tempered, and tends to overreact to every issue.
8. Kyogai
Muzan stripped Kyogai of his position, so he dedicates his life to hunting and devouring “marechi” to increase his power. Although he maintains a stern demeanor, he doesn't act violently like his counterparts. However, in his desire for Muzan's attention, Kyogai has committed atrocious acts like murdering innocent children. Consequently, the more time passes, the more he resembles his own kind.
7. Rui
Rui's introduction leaves the audience in awe, yet he's not as sinister as many other members of the Twelve Kizuki. However, this doesn't make Rui stand out. On the contrary, he delights in watching his prey struggle and gradually submit to his power.
Rui desires to have a loving family, but in a cruel and ironic twist, he projects his hatred onto his human adversaries.
6. Enmu
Enmu's fervent infliction of violence upon his victims disgusts the audience, especially when they realize he tortures his underlings to exchange for better dreams.
Enmu rarely cares about his fellow demons, even finding pleasure in their deaths. He relishes in the suffering of his kind, hence the audience understands he seeks to perpetuate pain and misery for all creatures around him.
