1. Doctor Sleep - The Haunting Memory
Doctor Sleep: The Haunting Memory takes place over 30 years after the events of The Shining. The main character, Danny Torrance, now grown up, begins a new life, a new journey facing a new dark force.
People with the ability to shine (called Shining) like him, including the young girl Abra, become the target of the secret society called 'The True Knot,' who kidnaps and consumes the souls of young 'shiners' to seek immortality, while recruiting adult 'shiners' to increase the power of the society. To protect himself and other 'shiners,' Danny returns to the Overlook Hotel, confronting fears and a haunting past.

2. It Chapter Two
With a terrifying 165-minute runtime, It: Chapter Two is the desperate journey of the Loser Club, trying to fight against the alien monster that has existed for millions of years and heal the wounds of their past. It: Chapter 2 includes jump scares but does not overuse them like recent horror movies such as Annabelle Comes Home or The Nun, blending seamlessly between normal threats and psychological horrors, creating an extremely powerful sense of fear. No one, not even the smartest viewer, can predict the next situation. Or simply put, no one can know what terrifying action will happen next, keeping the audience's nerves tense.
After 27 years, all members of the group have grown up and moved to different places to live and work, trying to forget the tragedies of the past to bury the fear in their hearts and live on. Only Mike, the group's only black member, stayed in Derry, to watch, waiting for the day when 'It' returns. However, the entity cannot do the same. For nearly three decades, not a day has passed without It dreaming of the kids, the ones who came to its lair to hurt it and free all the prey.

3. Annabelle - Annabelle series (2014 - 2019)
Annabelle is a sequel to the previous film, The Conjuring, a very famous and popular horror film. Annabelle, the name of a truly haunted doll. The film revolves around the life of a young couple.
He gives his wife a new doll on her birthday, which is also the day they move into their new home. After that, their house experiences a series of very strange events. Everything is related to that Annabelle doll. The film weaves terrifying scenes, with suspenseful sound and terrifying images. It promises to be a blockbuster no less than the previous The Conjuring.

4. Midsommar
Midsommar is considered one of the best horror films of this year. The Guardian, Salon, Roger Ebert, Time Out give it perfect scores, while Looper calls it the scariest film of the year. In the film, college student Dani Ardor (played by Florence Pugh) is grieving after a family tragedy. The incident further strains her relationship with her boyfriend Christian (Jack Reynor). Dani also has psychological issues. The following summer, Dani learns that Christian and their friends are going to Sweden to attend the Midsummer festival in the isolated Hårga community. She wants to join them, and Christian agrees so they can mend their relationship. Here, the couple meets Pelle (Vilhelm Blomgren) - the one who invited the group - and some other guests. The trip starts peacefully, but a turning point occurs.
Midsommar is also a rare film where the horror scenes mostly take place in broad daylight, even under the bright summer sun. The community members appear with their holy white attire, serene faces, and absolute belief in what they do. Evil does not come from societal resistance or temporary greed but originates from folk culture. Each bizarre custom in the film is rooted in Nordic mythology or history but is seen as extreme in modern times. The violence becomes more terrifying as the perpetrators calmly or matter-of-factly view it as right.

5. Us
In this life, the most terrifying enemy is not the heartless criminals or the superpowers creating nuclear bombs. The most terrifying enemy of each person is always themselves. Us starts with a seemingly unrelated text, apparently unrelated to the previously introduced film content. However, in the end, it plays a very important role in conveying messages that are heavily topical. Right after the mysterious prelude of the film appears, before officially entering the main content.
The Wilson family returns to their old house on the Santa Cruz coast for the summer vacation - where Adelaide, when she was young, was once psychologically traumatized after getting lost. Since returning, Adelaide has gradually felt a vague fear surrounding her and her family, a growing concern that grows until the red-clad doppelgangers, identical in appearance to her family members, appear. Not only do these figures look exactly like them, but their faces also express eerie emotions, and their personalities are much more savage and cold-blooded. They are the emotionless clones of all the Wilson family members.

6. The Curse of La Llorona
Owning a certain connection to The Conjuring Universe, 'The Curse of La Llorona' has often made viewers shiver. La Llorona is a Mexican folklore about a woman who weeps with regret after drowning her own children. Cursed to wander seeking replacement children, she continues to kidnap and kill children in the mortal realm. However, the result is always death for the children. In the film, a social worker named Anna (Linda Cardellini) is struggling with single motherhood and her two children, Samantha (Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen) and Chris (Roman Christou), after her husband's death. A long-time subject of Anna's now causes trouble by imprisoning her own daughter and insisting that a female ghost is after them. Ignoring the sympathetic mother, the police and Anna isolate the two children, only to witness their bodies being pulled from the river.
Throughout the work are burial rituals, images of spells, and the evil La Llorona, who originates from Central America. This helps to arouse curiosity in the audience, who are already familiar with American horror films or supernatural forces. The highlight of the American Latin culture lies in the character of exorcist Rafael (Raymond Cruz). Stepping into his house, the audience has the opportunity to admire a series of strange objects, tools of the trade never seen in American horror films. Even his way of exorcising demons is very different from the tradition of Western churches. Rafael uses La Llorona's own power to confront her, ready to use the living as bait, accompanied by many new tools such as a cross from a burning bush, a salt jar for water spells... Finally, the film also inserts a small detail, helping The Curse of La Llorona to connect to the Annabelle series in particular, and The Conjuring Universe in general.

7. Eli
The film tells the story of 11-year-old Eli (Charlie Shortwell) suffering from a rare autoimmune disease, which means he is 'allergic to the world.' He undergoes an experimental treatment at the isolated clinic of Dr. Isabella Horn (Lili Taylor), leading to incredibly bizarre experiences. He soon realizes that the house he is living in is not as safe as he thought, and the doctors at the clinic seem to be hiding something. Additionally, the film features Kelly Reily - an actress who has haunted audiences for a long time with her role in Eden Lake.
Like other recent horror films released on Netflix such as In the Shadow of the Moon or In the Tall Grass, the content only stops at a 'safe' level, meaning it is quite complete and 'sufficient' to satisfy the audience, but it does not really create a shocking explosion. However, feel free to choose Eli, because this film may not 'shock your teeth out,' but it will definitely make you stand still for a few seconds. As the Halloween 'demon festival' approaches, it would truly be a regret if you miss out on a great film like Eli!

8. Escape Room
The film begins by assembling 6 unfortunate players in the waiting room of Minos, a globally renowned Escape Room brand. They include the shy bookworm Zoey, the seemingly untrustworthy Ben, the war veteran Amanda, the blue-collar worker Mike, the carefree gamer Danny, and the arrogant stockbroker Jason. They all come here for various reasons but are promised a $10,000 prize by Minos if they win.
Quickly, they realize that the waiting room is actually an escape room. The group panics when they discover there are no staff behind the glass door. Meanwhile, a heat-emitting machine descends from the ceiling, raising the room's temperature. The six of them frantically search for an exit before becoming charred meat. What they thought was just to add drama and increase the game's difficulty, suddenly, one player dies tragically in the second challenge. From then on, they know they are participating in a game as insane as the Hunger Games.

9. In The Tall Grass
The film revolves around two cousins Becky and Cal who hear the cries for help of a lost boy in a field covered by towering, labyrinthine grass. They decide to venture into the field to rescue the boy. Meanwhile, others also enter the field and quickly realize it's an inescapable maze created by a demonic force emanating from a mysterious rock. Initially, In The Tall Grass deceives viewers into thinking it's a pure survival horror film combined with time travel. However, the plot is actually about parallel realities based on the power of a mysterious rock. Thus, the film provides a very interesting experience with the intertwining of these different realities, creating unexpected connections.
But the main theme the film aims to convey is the theme of choice and its consequences. In each different reality, all characters lost in the grass will face different challenges. Some will choose to succumb to evil, some will fight against it, and some will regret what they have done. The grass field is like a purgatory in Catholic belief, where souls undergo torment to atone for the sins they committed while alive, and this atonement process can seem like an endless, painful cycle. Luckily, In The Tall Grass deviates from the original novel. Finally, there is a character who manages to find true redemption, dying peacefully and leaving a humane meaning for the film.

10. Happy Death Day 2
Perhaps, audiences will feel sorry for but also extremely excited to see Tree (played by Jessica Rothe) continue to be trapped in her birthday. Sorry because after 11 times of 'dying and reliving,' she unexpectedly wakes up on a rather beautiful day, with the familiar sight of her friend stooping to search for something in a corner, and that's when she realizes her real life is 'like a rumor.' However, this time it won't be as easy because besides the killer always lurking everywhere, there is a much more serious issue. As mentioned in the trailers, some quantum science machine is somehow affecting the timeline, leading to Tree being trapped in a... different dimension, easier to understand as a different life, where it gives her some things but also takes away important things. So, the familiar blonde girl in the short-sleeved raglan shirt now has a new mission, which is to figure out how to use the machine to make everything back to normal, at least before the killer appears, killing everyone and taking her life.
Overall, the plot of Happy Death Day 2U is not too far-fetched when it constructs a reasonable and plausible scenario, as the source of the entire situation has been eagerly awaited by countless fans since the end of part 1. It might get a bit confusing with too much physiological knowledge running rampant throughout the film, but in return, the humor elements of this return are even higher. This will be an extremely bloody, punchy, and endlessly funny feast, which will make you hold onto your seat tightly to wait for our girl Tree to make things happen.
