4. My Son Sanctuary
Introduction: Surrounded by mountains, the My Son Sanctuary is a structure of the Cham people dating back to the 4th century, located in Duy Phu commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province. This ancient Hindu religious center was active from the 7th to the 10th century, only abandoned and completely deteriorated in the 13th century. About 20 temples still retain their rudimentary structure, all built of brick or sandstone blocks, reflecting fascinating influences from various Asian empires, including Borobudur (Java, Indonesia), Pagan (Myanmar), Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Ayutthaya (Thailand), and was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1999.
