1. Stand on Your Own Two Feet
"You must decide for yourself. Stand up, move forward, and make use of the strong legs you have, Rose." After a failed human transmutation experiment, Edward lost a leg. This quote, meant for Rose—who had lost hope and faith in her ideals—also serves as Edward's self-admonition. It is a reminder to take control of your path and live purposefully, as long as you still can.

2. We Are Only Human
"Because we're not gods. We're humans. Small, insignificant humans...who couldn't even save an innocent little girl." This quote reflects one of the most painful moments in Edward's life. Unable to save Nina, a sweet and innocent girl, from the cruel experiments of her father, Edward is struck by the realization of human fragility. It serves as a reminder that no one is perfect—what matters is overcoming the weakness inside us.

3. Create Your Own Door
"Like I always say, if you can't find a door... make your own!"
This quote carries a powerful message: when faced with obstacles, create your own path. Edward, in the story, created a door for himself through alchemy. For us, the message is clear—there are no barriers that can stop us from reaching our goals. If a door doesn't exist, build one. Don't worry about walking a path that's never been walked before; in time, your footsteps will create the way.

4. The Weight of Guilt
"It's all my fault... Al lost his body, and it's all my fault! He can't eat anymore, he can't sleep, he can't feel cold or warmth... He's my little brother, and I'm supposed to protect him and I did this... How can he ever forgive me!"
In this heart-wrenching moment, Edward, still just a child, blames himself for the horrors that have befallen his younger brother, Al. The pain of his actions, which led to Al losing his body, overwhelms him. Edward cannot bear the thought that he, as the older brother, failed to protect him. This guilt becomes his constant companion, haunting him even in his dreams, driving him toward the single goal of restoring Al’s body.

5. Love and Sacrifice
"Whether it's an arm, a leg, or even my heart, take it all! Just give him back... HE'S MY LITTLE BROTHER AND HE'S ALL I HAVE LEFT!!!"
The horrific human transmutation experiment took away more than they could ever imagine—Alphonse lost his body, and Edward lost a leg, then an arm when he transferred Al's soul into a suit of armor. In the most terrifying moment of his life, Edward realizes his mistake and does everything in his power to fix it. This declaration is not just a challenge to the forces that control fate, but also a powerful testament to the unconditional love and deep sense of responsibility he feels as an older brother.

6. The Vastness of the World
"Even with our eyes closed, a vast world exists beyond ourselves, with its own lives and dreams."
This quote carries deep meaning. The Elric brothers have journeyed through numerous cities and roads in pursuit of their goal. The world before them is immense, making them feel incredibly small. Yet, this feeling of insignificance doesn't lead to despair. There are countless people living their lives, despite poverty and illness, and many dreams continue to unfold despite the obstacles. Everyone has a chance; if they can do it, why can't we?

7. Those Who Never Reach the Truth
"There's an ancient myth about a hero who flew with wings made of wax. He believed he could touch the sun, but when he got too close, his wings melted and he fell back to Earth."
Edward referenced this myth to Rose as a way to illustrate that some things, like resurrecting the dead, are simply impossible. The message is that we shouldn't challenge the laws of nature, but it also serves as a reminder to Edward of his own past mistake—his failed attempt to bring his mother back to life.
8. Equivalent Exchange
"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days, we truly believed that was the one undeniable truth of the world."
Humanity cannot acquire anything without sacrificing something of equal value. This is the first law of alchemy: Equivalent Exchange. Back then, we truly believed this was the one and only truth of existence. This principle isn't just for alchemists; it reflects the nature of all things in the world. We cannot create without accepting sacrifice. Peace cannot be achieved without the conflicts that lead to resolution. Without death, life itself would have no meaning. It is the essence of the world around us.

9. A Strong Heart
“A lesson without pain is meaningless. For you cannot gain something without sacrificing something else in return. But once you have recovered it and made it your own... You will gain an irreplaceable Fullmetal heart."
A lesson without pain holds no value. You cannot achieve anything without sacrificing something in return. But once you’ve overcome the struggle and made it your own, you’ll possess a heart of steel that cannot be replaced. This quote highlights the consequences of the law of equivalent exchange: you accept sacrifice, face defeat and pain, but you never give up. There is no lesson learned without hardship, and when you push through, you emerge victorious.

10. Envy
"Now I see. You're Jealous. You're jealous of humans, aren't you? According to you, humans should be much weaker than homunculi. Yet, even when they are discouraged after being defeated, and even when they lose their way and stumble, they keep getting up and fighting. The people around them help them back on their feet. And you're envious of that."
Now I understand. You're jealous. You envy humans, don’t you? In your eyes, humans are supposed to be much weaker than homunculi. But even when they face defeat, even when they lose their way and fall, they rise again, driven by the support of others. And that’s what you envy. Envy isn’t just about resenting others’ success. It’s a reflection of our own insecurity, a denial of ourselves. We envy because we wonder why we can’t push harder, even though we are all human. This insecurity breeds loneliness, and the desire to pull others down to our level is nothing more than an attempt to erase that solitude.
