Wonder Woman - The Goddess Warrior (original title: Wonder Woman) is an American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and is the fourth film in the DC Extended Universe. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the screenplay is written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns based on Heinberg's original story, with contributions from Zack Snyder and Jason Fuchs. Gal Gadot stars as the lead in the film, along with Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, and Elena Anaya in supporting roles. Wonder Woman: The Goddess Warrior is the second appearance of the character Wonder Woman, following her debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Set in 1918, the film revolves around the story of Princess Diana, growing up on the Amazon island of Themyscira. After American pilot Steve Trevor crashes onto her island, she saves him, and he informs her about an ongoing World War. Diana then leaves her home, trying to stop the war and becoming Wonder Woman. The development of the film began in 1996, with Jenkins signing on as director in 2015. Principal photography began on November 21, 2015, with scenes shot in the UK, France, and Italy. Filming wrapped on May 9, 2016, with additional scenes shot in November 2016.
