1. Quế Peak, Tây Giang
Tây Giang, a highland district bordering Laos, is not widely known despite being only 110km from Hội An and Da Nang.
With its vast primary forests and unique location at an altitude of over 1,580m, the climate is pleasantly cool year-round. Tây Giang is often compared to Da Lat in central Vietnam. During summer, temperatures can be 8-10°C lower than the lowland areas, and mornings and late afternoons are often veiled in mist, creating an enchanting atmosphere.
The highlight of Tây Giang is undoubtedly Quế Peak, which stands at 1,369m above sea level. While it is not the highest point on the way to the A Xan border commune, the winding hills and valley-like terrain create a misty ambiance year-round at the summit.
Here, you can enjoy a stunning sunrise in the morning and a mesmerizing sunset in the evening. The natural beauty of the landscape will leave you in awe as the sun rises above the trees or sets in a sea of mist.
At the summit of Quế Peak, you'll find the Ra-ai waterfall cascading from Mount A Rùng (near the Laos border). The crystal-clear waters and foaming spray are a sight to behold. The nearby Rơ Cung waterfall adds to the area’s allure with its dramatic natural beauty.
In addition to its breathtaking scenery, Tây Giang is home to the indigenous Cơ Tu people. Their unique Gươi houses, Moong houses, and Dài houses feature distinctive architectural designs and carvings. If you stay overnight, you might hear the deep voices of the elders singing traditional Cơ Tu chants around a fire, while the young men and women dance in a circle to the beat of their music.

2. Hà My Beach
Hà My Beach is located in Điện Dương, Điện Bàn Town, Quang Nam Province, nestled between Da Nang and Hoi An along the coastline. Though it’s not a new discovery, having been known to locals for over a decade, Hà My Beach remains relatively untouched due to the limited accommodation and tourism services available. There is only one resort in the area, and recently a few homestays have opened, mostly catering to international visitors. In June 2017, Hà My Beach was ranked by *The Telegraph* as one of Asia’s most beautiful beaches.
When you visit Hà My Beach, you can spend hours relaxing under the gentle shade of coconut trees, enjoying the calm, peaceful atmosphere of nature. One of the best things about it is the lack of crowds, unlike the more famous beaches. Sometimes, you’ll find yourself completely alone, surrounded by nature, making it feel as though the beach is your private retreat. Whether you’re with family, friends, or on your own, the clear, cool waters provide the perfect place to unwind and play, with a sense of seclusion that is hard to find elsewhere.
The beach is most enchanting at sunrise and sunset. The early morning light or the golden glow of the evening sun casting across the ocean creates a magical atmosphere. These moments also mark the times when local fishermen head out to sea, adding a lively energy to the surroundings. On clear nights, the view of Hà My Beach is even more mesmerizing, as the water sparkles with the glow of lights from thousands of fishing boats, creating a “floating city” effect along the horizon.

3. Lộc Yên Ancient Village
Lộc Yên Ancient Village (Tiên Cảnh) is located about 5km south of Tiên Phước town center, Quang Nam, and is home to 184 families. In recent years, the village has become a popular destination for visitors.
According to the village elders, Lộc Yên was established in the late 18th century (during the Tây Sơn era) by Nguyễn Công Tuyết from Tam Kỳ, who brought settlers to this area to start a new life and founded the village, originally named Lộc An, and later changed to Lộc Yên. The village is nestled in a beautiful circular valley, surrounded by the Rừng Cấm, Đá Bàn, Hố Chò, and Rừng Gấm mountains. The village is bordered by rivers and streams such as Đá Giăng, Vực Dài, Đồng Rộc, and irrigation canals that flow through the land. This terrain, combined with the cool climate, allows the area to remain lush and green year-round. Recently, many villagers have planted fruit trees in their gardens, enhancing the village's already picturesque landscape. To reach Lộc Yên, take a 1km concrete road from Tiên Cảnh Commune's administrative center. The road divides the village into two areas: Gò Tròn on the left and Hòn Ngang on the right. Lined with trees and adorned with blooming orchids in the summer, the path leading into the village is both scenic and serene.
The village still preserves 8 ancient wooden houses, some of which are over 100 to 150 years old, made of local wood from the area, with traditional 3-room and 2-chai (wings) structures. The largest and most beautiful house, dating nearly 200 years, belongs to the Nguyễn Đình Sưu family. Before 1975, the house was twice offered for sale by the Saigon president, Ngô Đình Diệm, but the family refused. A unique feature of Lộc Yên is the use of durable wood for homes and the cultivation of specialty crops such as betel, cinnamon, pepper, and tea in the gardens. The steep terrain has led locals to build stone embankments to prevent soil erosion during heavy rains. These stone walls, sometimes as high as shoulder-height, add to the beauty of the village. The stone paths leading to homes and the gardens are considered works of art, reflecting the craftsmanship and pride of the villagers. Houses are typically oriented with the front facing rice fields and the back against the mountains, with stone paths winding through terraced gardens, creating a stunning sight, particularly during the spring when grass grows over the stones, forming a sparkling green carpet.

4. Bằng An Tower
Not far from the historic center, Bằng An Tower has become a must-see attraction in Hoi An. While the ancient town is known for its Chinese-inspired buildings, a visit to Điện An in Điện Bàn district offers a chance to admire the unique Cham architecture of Bằng An Tower.
Constructed around the late 9th to early 10th century during the reign of King Bhadravarman II of the Champa Kingdom, Bằng An Tower is the only surviving octagonal tower, with walls that stretch 4 meters wide and a height of over 20 meters. Inside the tower, visitors can see a sacred linga statue made of stone, reflecting one of the core religious beliefs of the Cham people. Two sandstone statues of Gajasimha, protective deities, stand guard at the tower's base. The tower's upper structure features a flower-like design, with expanding curves creating a broad, open shape. The entrance roof is a conical shape, narrowing towards the apex. Though some decorative details have eroded over time, the main structure of the entrance remains largely intact.
The tower's central sanctuary has an octagonal floor plan. From a distance, the tower appears to be divided into three distinct parts: the base, the octagonal body, and the conical roof, which slopes gradually to a point. The shape of the sanctuary is said to resemble a large linga, while the overall structure of the tower symbolizes the Yoni. The worship of Linga and Yoni is an ancient Cham religious practice. Two stone statues of a lion and an elephant stand outside, adding to the tower's spiritual significance. Today, Bằng An Tower is remarkably well-preserved and not only holds immense historical and cultural value but also stands as an impressive example of Cham sculpture and architecture. Situated alongside other cultural landmarks in Quang Nam, Bằng An Tower offers visitors an unforgettable glimpse into the rich history and traditions of central Vietnam.

9. Chien Dan Tower
If you’re looking for a stunning photo backdrop resembling the ancient temples of Angkor, you don’t need to travel all the way to Cambodia! The Chien Dan Tower in Quang Nam is a historical site consisting of three adjacent Cham towers built at the end of the 11th century to honor the gods Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma.
The Chien Dan towers have preserved the essence of traditional Cham architecture, with square structures and tiered roofs. The central tower stands taller than the others, and the arches rise to sharp points like the tips of spears. While the towers share similarities with My Son Sanctuary, Chien Dan also reflects a transition to the architectural style found in the Bình Định Cham towers. It’s a fascinating blend of old Cham craftsmanship.
Built during the late 10th to early 11th century, Chien Dan Tower has not maintained its original structure. The central tower still stands largely intact, showcasing the classical Cham design, complete with its body and conical spire. However, the two side towers—North and South—have only remnants of their original structure left. Researchers believe that the Southern tower was the first built, followed by the central tower, and finally the Northern tower.
Each tower is known as a Kalan, which refers to the main, most important architectural feature of the structure, representing a microcosm. The body of the Chien Dan Tower is simple, with no decorative carvings, but the base is supported by a solid foundation made of sandstone, featuring vivid stone sculptures inspired by the Indian Ramayana epic. The most intact decorations are found on the walls of the central tower, where intricate carvings depict warriors in battle, graceful Cham dancers, goddesses, mythical creatures like the Naga serpent, Garuda birds, elephants, lions, and even stone stelae.
