2. Vin Pearl Safari
Located within the Vin Pearl area on the northern island, Vin Pearl Safari is also one of the top 10 must-visit tourist attractions in Phu Quoc. It is the largest wildlife conservation park in Vietnam and the only safari in the country. Unlike the confined conditions of traditional zoos, Vin Pearl Safari offers a semi-wild environment, allowing animals to live in groups and roam freely within natural settings. However, staff members still provide food for the animals.
What sets Vin Pearl Safari apart is that visitors ride in electric cars, traveling through different zones where wild animals live in a semi-natural habitat. The park is home to various wild animals, such as tigers, leopards, lions, rhinos, ostriches, giraffes, and bears.
In addition to native species, Vin Pearl Safari has also brought in exotic animals from Africa and the Americas, which are not typically found in Vietnam. The park also focuses on the conservation of endangered species.
Vin Pearl Safari is a fantastic destination for children, families, and young wildlife enthusiasts. However, visiting the safari may involve a fair amount of walking, and the weather in the mountainous area can be quite hot, so plan accordingly. If walking isn't ideal, electric car rentals are available to explore the safari area.

5. Phu Quoc Prison
Once dubbed the 'hell on earth', Phu Quoc Prison, along with Con Dao Prison, was one of the most notorious prisons during the Vietnam War. Originally known as 'Cay Dua Prison', it was first built by the French, then repurposed by the South Vietnamese government when Con Dao became overcrowded. During the war, a total of 32,000 prisoners were held here.
At this historical site, visitors can still see barbed wire fences and prison cells, which were made of tin-roofed huts. The prison displays models of inhumane torture methods and cruel punishments used by the South Vietnamese government on fellow countrymen during the war. Notable methods of torture included the 'tiger cage', where prisoners were confined in barbed-wire cells exposed to the sun from dawn to dusk; the 'submarine', where prisoners were locked in water barrels and struck to rupture their eardrums; and the use of burning lightbulbs to scorch prisoners' eyes. Archaeologists have also uncovered the remains of prisoners, including rusty nails embedded deep into their bones.
Admission to Phu Quoc Prison is free, but for an additional fee of 100,000 VND per guide, visitors can hire a tour guide. If you visit as part of a group, the cost becomes very affordable. With a guide, the story of survival and escapes from the prison comes to life in a truly emotional and compelling way.

The park also boasts 60 kilometers of stunning coastline, perfect for those looking to explore more of the island’s natural beauty.

8. Sao Beach
Known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Phu Quoc, alongside Dai Beach (located in the Vin Pearl area), Sao Beach is one of the few remaining free beaches in the area, as most of the stunning beaches are now part of luxury resorts. Phu Quoc is famous for its pristine, picturesque beauty, and despite becoming a public beach long ago, Sao Beach has managed to maintain its natural charm. You’ll be amazed by the silky white sand and the crystal-clear turquoise water, so clear that you can see small fish swimming beneath you even as you wade further out into the sea.
At night, thousands of starfish come ashore, basking in the dark as the tide rolls in, which is how Sao Beach got its name. However, if you visit and encounter starfish, please refrain from picking them up to take photos, as they can only survive in water. Removing them from the sea can harm these beautiful creatures.
