1. Long Bien Bridge
Inaugurated 112 years ago, Long Bien Bridge, though weathered with age, remains a key structure for trains, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorbikes in Hanoi. Surrounded by many stories, the bridge continues to hold an essential role in the daily life of the city, despite four newer bridges crossing the Red River nearby. Beyond its economic importance, Long Bien Bridge serves as a historical link, connecting the ancient capital of Co Loa with the Imperial Citadel, bridging the past with the present.
Long Bien Bridge boasts a unique charm that not many bridges possess. It’s a delightful experience to visit on a beautiful day, where you can enjoy a romantic date with your loved one, relax in the cool breeze, and take in the open space. 2. West Lake
West Lake has become a beloved destination, a place where people naturally gather. Thanh Niên Street, also known as Cổ Ngư Street, once marked the boundary between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake, and is now a lively spot for people to stroll after the evening.
Some seek out a peaceful corner by the lake to catch the breeze, sip coffee in a lakeside café, enjoy the famous shrimp cakes, or indulge in a bowl of ice cream. Others prefer dining at upscale restaurants along the lake's edge or even on a floating restaurant. There are also those who simply take a leisurely walk around the lake, breathing in the fresh air before heading off or returning home. The busiest time is during weekends.
On weekends, the road along Thanh Niên Street often gets crowded with people heading to West Lake. On the large boat on the lake’s surface, a newlywed couple smiles happily, surrounded by the well-wishes of family and friends. By the shore, an elderly man with silver hair and a cane gazes at the sunset from a bench, quietly enjoying the peaceful end of the day.
