1. Hanoi
Hanoi boasts kites
Spinning on their own indoors
No need for winds to blow
No need for you to run far
Hanoi has many flowers
Bundled carefully
Many folks buy flowers
Smiling faces everywhere
Hanoi has Hoan Kiem Lake
Water clear as ink
By the lake stands the Pen Tower
Writing poetry into the sky
Hanoi has many ramparts
Guns' bellies filled with bullets
And many dolls
Round figures for all
Hanoi has electric trains
Rattling along the tracks
People getting on and off
Everyone looks beautiful
Even after years of bombardment
Ba Dinh remains green with trees
Golden moon at One Pillar Pagoda
Tay Ho adorned with flying flowers…

2. My Beloved Mother
I love my mother like the sky above
So vast, it never ends
How can I know
Where the sky truly lies?
The sky is wide and high
Mother hopes, when will I arrive!
I love my mother like Hanoi
To remember her, I'll search everywhere
From this street to that
I'll find my mother soon
Hanoi is too vast
Streets like spider webs
These streets and those
Meeting mother, how can I meet them all!
I love my mother like the school
All day long, I stay there
When I study, when I play
There, I always have my mother
But when I come home at night
I'm far from school again
While mother stays alone
She misses me very much
Her nature is to always remember
Always wanting to be with me
If there's anything closer
I love my mother with that
Oh mom, there's a cricket
Always in my matchbox
Open it and you'll see
I love my mother with that cricket.

3. Untitled
Hanoi, the capital city grand
Stand at Hang Mam, gaze the land
There's O Quan Chuong, Dong Xuan Bridge
Hang Duong, Hang Dao, not out of reach
Turn at Hang Nau, leads to Dong Xuan Market
Hang Than, Hang Cot, footsteps market
Passing Hang Long, near the railway station
Back to Hang Lo, then turn right
Hoa Lo Street, straight is the way
Along Cau Thi, we walk calmly
Twilight at Cho Duoi, bustling spree
Buy and sell in a hurry to be free
Not lingering till the market closes for the day
Our street, briefly told this way
For Western Street, one must sway: Trang Tien
Thai Ha, Truong Buoi, Trung Hien
With trams running all through the day
Fares are cheap, come what may
Two pennies for a ticket, you're on your way
There's even a bus station in play
Transporting passengers, goods at one's pay.
The lakeside view is quite merry.

Hang Buom, Hang Thiec, Hang Hai, Hang Khay,
Ma Vi, Hang Dieu, Hang Giay,
Hang Lo, Hang Cot, Hang May, Hang Dan,

Hang Muoi, Hang Non, Cau Dong,
Hang Hom, Hang Dau, Hang Bong, Hang Be,
Hang Thung, Hang Bat, Hang Tre,
Hang Voi, Hang Giay, Hang The, Hang Ga,
Around to Hang Da,
Travel the streets, so beautifully quaint.
First bustling area Long Thanh,
Streets laid out like a chessboard game.
People return, in awe they remain,
Poetic notes, capture the cultural flame.

5. Welcoming You Back to Hanoi
Welcoming You Back to Hanoi
The sky spreads its vast blue
Streets blazing hot
Seemingly sulking at you
You've been away for too long
Forgetting Hanoi, how?
Returning to Hanoi
Night's veil, wind whispers
Alleyways, narrow paths
As if longing for your return
You go to Hanoi, remember
Don't want to leave you anywhere
Returning to Hanoi
Glistening lights
Sounds and melodies
Merge with your steps
You go to Hanoi, eagerly awaited
You return to Hanoi, joyful
Returning to Hanoi
After days apart
Meeting with nostalgia
Still the street corner, the road
When you're far, do you remember?
A beloved Hanoi.

6. Beloved Hanoi
Hanoi boasts many beautiful scenes
With its green Sword Lake, floating Turtle Tower
The vast expanse of the sea, the Red River
Indulging in delicious dishes every day
I love the capital city of Hanoi
Where I live, there are so many things.

7. Children's Anthem of the Capital
Joyful steps echo along Hanoi streets
Proudly known as the children's capital
Sword Lake sparkles, Turtle Tower's silhouette
Dong Da Hill where ancient victories stay
How we love this city with a thousand years of history
Our forefathers endured countless sacrifices
Building and preserving this heroic capital
For a thousand years, resilient and splendid
Joyful steps echo along Hanoi streets
Proudly known as the children's capital
We still hear the echoing voice of Uncle Ho
Calling us to follow our forefathers' steps
Carrying on traditions of resilience for thousands of years
To rise together, study harder
The capital shines with the light of peace.

Gather to behold the beauty of Sword Lake
Witness Thê Húc Bridge, admire Ngọc Sơn Temple
The Pen Tower, the Ink Slab stand steadfast
Who, we ask, crafted this land of rivers and mountains?

Beloved Capital
“Love Hanoi, we love Hanoi,
Love our parents, love our dear home.
Happy friends, kind teachers,
So many things here that we cherish.
By the lake stands the lovely Turtle Tower,
The Red River sings through all four seasons.
Visiting Uncle Ho in his mausoleum,
So many beloved figures here.”

10. Red Mark
Hanoi dots the red mark
The sun fans flames from coal
Dreamy banyan trees shed leaves
Midnight summer streets bared
Hoan Kiem Lake cool and fresh
Suddenly someone boils tamarind
Cicadas shed skins with sobs
Flamboyant flowers blaze bright
Streams of people sweat, cars honk
Scarves cover faces, roads sizzle
The cage bird stops singing — still?
Hanoi, the well in your eyes
Cools flesh, marks it red!
A verse lowers heat, soothing
Suddenly green, green streets!
