1. Question 1
What are the four basic virtues of traditional Vietnamese women 'Industry - Appearance - Speech - Behavior'? How do you perceive the industry, appearance, speech, and behavior of women today?
Answer:
Industry, Appearance, Speech, Behavior have always been the 'golden rule' of women in all eras. However, their meanings have evolved to adapt to modern times.
'Industry': refers to eating habits, work ethics, and the ability to take care of household chores. From taking care of children, weaving, sewing, to cooking, women must perform these tasks efficiently and beautifully. This diligence and skillfulness are essential for creating a harmonious and happy family.
'Appearance': refers to physical beauty. Despite the saying 'virtue is more valuable than beauty,' physical appearance still plays a significant role in partner selection. The standards of beauty have evolved over time, focusing not only on physical health but also on fertility.
'Speech': refers to communication skills, being polite, and knowing when to speak and when to listen. Women should choose their words carefully, balancing firmness and softness, to maintain harmony in relationships.
'When the husband is angry, the wife should speak less,
When the rice is boiling, reduce the fire so that the pot does not overflow.'
'Behavior': encompasses good manners and proper conduct towards everyone, especially towards parents and in-laws. Being gentle and obedient is highly valued.
Traditional women, like ideal wives, should embody all four virtues. As for contemporary women? As society changes, so do perceptions. Modern women have redefined their roles and positions in families and society. However, the standards of women today still cannot be without Industry, Appearance, Speech, Behavior.
'Industry': today no longer confined to just household duties and child-rearing; women also pursue stable careers. Excelling in their profession enhances their value and asserts their role in the family and society. Modern women strive to establish themselves in society.
'Appearance': is not only about health and fertility. Modern women have the freedom to choose various beauty treatments to enhance their appearance. In relationships and careers, besides genuine capabilities, beauty also contributes to their success. Women of all ages have their beauty routines because 'there are no ugly women, only those who do not know how to beautify themselves.'
'Speech': Modern girls not only speak gently, politely, and listen attentively but also need confidence and eloquence in speech. Demonstrating social understanding and intelligent behavior help create a positive impression on others.
Today, perceptions of love and the role of women in love have also changed. Modern girls have the freedom to explore and choose their partners. However, the word 'Behavior' is still essential: it represents sincerity and loyalty, qualities that are always highly valued in women.

Secondly, organizing meetings, propaganda programs about the role and responsibilities of women in the new society, helping people understand the importance and raise confidence for women to contribute to society; as well as organizing annual awards for outstanding women in social work, economic development, etc. Commendation will greatly encourage the spirit, self-confidence of women in society to dare to think, dare to do and see their role capable of carrying out and doing well as men in society.
Thirdly, creating the most favorable conditions for women to access scientific achievements as well as changes in the new period, promoting and improving the effectiveness of propaganda and assistance for women in learning, working, and participating in political and cultural activities.
In the period of industrialization, modernization of the country, we need to create conditions for women to fully play their roles in society. To promote the role, position of women in social development, in addition to the efforts of the women themselves, women also need positive support and support from families and society.
