If you currently own an iPhone X, there aren't many compelling reasons to upgrade to the iPhone Xs Max. However, if you're using an older iPhone, perhaps even the iPhone 8 Plus, there are several reasons why you should consider upgrading to the iPhone Xs Max.
1. Top 10 Reasons to Consider and 3 Reasons to Think Twice Before Getting the iPhone Xs Max
If you currently own an iPhone X, there aren't many compelling reasons to upgrade to the iPhone Xs Max. However, if you're using an older iPhone, perhaps even the iPhone 8 Plus, there are several reasons why you should consider upgrading to the iPhone Xs Max.
Top 10 Reasons to Buy the iPhone Xs Max
1. Improved Camera Quality
The camera quality on the iPhone Xs Max has seen significant improvements, thanks to the upgraded 12 MP main sensor. While the lens still has an F/1.8 aperture, the pixel size has considerably increased to 1.4um.
Additionally, you can now capture portrait photos with adjustable background blur. The Smart HDR feature, powered by the Apple A12 Bionic chip, allows simultaneous capture of multiple photos, selecting the best image from the set.
Finally, video recording is enhanced, and it now supports spatial audio recording.
2. More Powerful Processor
The new Apple A12 Bionic chip delivers 15% better performance compared to the A11 chip (on heavy-duty tasks for 2 cores), while reducing power consumption by 50% on light-duty tasks. The GPU graphics also show a 50% improvement over the previous chip generation.
Both the iPhone Xs Max and iPhone Xs come with larger RAM, up to 4 GB. These are the first two iPhone models equipped with such substantial RAM.
3. Larger Screen Size
Ultimately, the standout feature of the iPhone Xs Max is its OLED screen, stretching to 6.5 inches. This marks the largest screen ever on an iPhone, providing users with ample space for entertainment, movie-watching, gaming, and more.
4. Higher Screen Resolution
The iPhone Xs Max boasts a larger and higher-resolution screen. While the pixel density remains at 458 PPI, similar to the iPhone X, it surpasses that of the iPhone 8 Plus.
5. Improved Battery Life
Apple promises enhanced battery life for the iPhone Xs Max compared to the iPhone 8 Plus, and real-world tests have confirmed this commitment.
6. Ample Internal Storage
Gone are the days of iPhones with 16 GB capacity. Today, the iPhone Xs Max starts with a minimum storage of 64 GB, reaching up to a spacious 512 GB for your storage needs. Of course, opting for higher storage comes with a higher price tag. Compared to the 64 GB version, upgrading to the 512 GB model will cost you an additional 350 USD.
7. Introduction of a New Gold Color
Last year, the iPhone X was only available in silver and space gray. Therefore, the addition of the gold color option for the iPhone Xs Max brings an exciting new choice. The gold variants truly look captivating with a stainless steel frame and a glossy back glass.
8. Dust and Water Resistance - IP68
Apple equipped the iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X with IP67 water resistance. However, with the 2018 iPhone lineup, Apple upgraded it to IP68 for enhanced protection against dust and water.
With an IP67 rating, the iPhone can survive submersion in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. However, the IP68 standard increases the chances of survival as it allows submersion in up to 1.5 meters of water for the same duration. So, if you often use your iPhone near the pool, the iPhone Xs Max is a solid choice.
9. More Durable Glass
Apple claims that the glass coating on the new iPhone models is the best type ever used on a smartphone. This means the glass can withstand impact better than previous iPhone generations.
10. Dual SIM Capability
Another reason why many people would choose the iPhone Xs Max is its support for dual SIM cards, offering greater convenience for users. However, as of now, Vietnamese carriers do not support the eSIM standard, so dual SIM functionality is limited to select markets with physical SIM support.
3 REASONS TO CONSIDER (OR NOT) BUYING IPHONE XS MAX
1. High Price Tag
The iPhone X, with its starting price of 1,000 USD last year, already stunned many. However, the iPhone Xs Max this year comes at an even higher cost, starting from 1,100 USD for the 64 GB model, and reaching a hefty 1,449 USD for the 512 GB variant.
Certainly, for a product packed with features and new technologies like the iPhone Xs Max, the price tag is not exorbitant. Investing a significant amount for an enhanced, more premium experience is a reasonable and justifiable desire (if you have the financial means).
2. Not a Fan of Larger Size
If you currently own an iPhone Plus model, the size of the iPhone Xs Max may not be an issue, as it's comparable to the iPhone 8 Plus.
However, if you're accustomed to using a 4.7-inch iPhone, adapting to the larger size may take some time, and nearly all actions might require two-handed use.
3. No Fingerprint Sensor
Those who refused to buy the iPhone X due to its lack of a fingerprint sensor may still be waiting. The 2018 iPhone lineup continues to rely on Face ID technology, completely abandoning Touch ID. However, this new generation of Face ID is more reliable and faster than the initial version.
