1. Choosing Leisurely Jobs or Lacking Career Direction
Vietnamese people tend to prefer leisurely jobs, which is why economic sectors at universities always have a surplus of students. The higher the admission rate, the more surplus graduates, leading to a significant increase in unemployment. Many people, unable to handle work pressure, frequently change companies, resulting in higher unemployment rates.
A young student stepping into the university threshold often lacks a clear understanding of the ultimate purpose of education and how the degree will support their future career. Career orientation often depends on parents, who tend to favor safer fields for their children. Others may choose a field based on trends, even if they are aware that their passion and talent lie elsewhere.

2. Businesses Prioritize Hiring Acquaintances

7. Incomplete tasks
As the academic year is coming to an end, this is the stage where graduating students should seize the opportunity to find a suitable job. However, the employment landscape in Vietnam is undergoing transformation, resulting in a significant number of graduates unable to find desired employment after completing their university education. What are the main reasons leading to this situation? There are many factors as mentioned earlier, and besides, when you are not diligent with your work, fail to complete tasks, it becomes a factor leading to unemployment.
Make sure you complete all tasks before leaving the office. According to surveys from multinational companies, they often do not use fingerprint tools from employees to assess competence and pay. They look at the amount of work completed in a day. In most state-owned companies, employees often see the office as a place for casual conversations and leave after 8 hours without completing their tasks, making it difficult for them to excel in the business market. Employees who fail to complete enough tasks will quickly be laid off.

8. Lack of thoroughness in interviews, CV not well-invested
Job interview is an indispensable activity for every candidate in the job search process. However, due to lack of preparation and some avoidable mistakes, many candidates have been disqualified for their desired positions. Take the best preparation steps from punctuality, attire to interview answers to avoid losing points in the eyes of your potential employers.
Did you know that employers only value CVs with clear and relevant keywords, meaning the level of relevance to the applied position must be absolute? Don't prioritize quantity over quality. Focus on creating a CV that ensures thoroughness, perfection for the position you desire by not spreading information and not addressing issues that need clear analysis, such as work experience, standout skills if you want to shine the most in the eyes of employers.

9. Overemphasis on National University Degrees by Businesses
Private enterprises in Vietnam often overly emphasize academic degrees, which is a major reason why Vietnam has one of the highest unemployment rates in the Southeast Asia region. Some companies even demand degrees from mainstream National Universities, while a significant portion of students use online training programs, private or international institutions to enhance flexibility, leading to difficulties in finding employment.
In reality, the number of graduates every year is substantial, but not all of them study at prestigious universities or National Universities. Many of them graduate from local universities, including colleges or distance learning programs. However, the majority of businesses, and even state agencies, pay special attention to whether your degree is regular or not, whether it belongs to prestigious universities or not. Therefore, the risk of unemployment for many students remains high.

10. Lack of Team Spirit, Passivity in Job Search Process
In the era where teamwork prevails, individualism needs to be discarded. Vietnamese students often exhibit a lack of team spirit when socializing and chatting more than working, which always disappoints recruiters. Business owners undoubtedly cannot spend their days resolving internal conflicts of people lacking team spirit, always prioritizing personal interests.
Never be passive in the job search process because the competition is increasingly high among the new graduates every year. Most of us use the Internet as a job search tool by sending resumes and waiting for interviews. This makes you less competitive and misses many good opportunities. Try to expand your network through various channels to create more opportunities for yourself. Additionally, continuously update knowledge and acquire new skills to enhance your job-seeking abilities.
