1. Let Go of Anger
According to mindfulness guru Thich Nhat Hanh, anger is like a storm rising from the depths of consciousness. When you feel it, take a deep breath to regain rationality. Then, look at or think about the person you're angry with. Consider that they may be unhappy or suffering. Surely, you wouldn't want that. You'd want to say or do something kind to ease their discomfort, their inner pain. That's compassion arising within you. When it surfaces, anger dissipates.
For Westerners, they believe that every minute of anger robs you of 60 seconds of happiness. When anger flares up, strive to remain calm and assess how serious the situation is to act and avoid future regrets. Each time you restrain the flames of anger within yourself, it means you've won over yourself to some extent.

2. Learn to Forgive Yourself
We all have troubles and mistakes in life, so don't blame yourself too much because that's perfectly normal. Each of us sometimes makes mistakes, and we should accept that to become better individuals.
No one can turn back time to redo the past, so learn to forgive yourself more. Let's start from today to create a better new ending.

3. Learn to Not Care
You need to learn to 'not care about what others think of you' if you want to be happy. Do what you like and sometimes pretend to be naive. You have the right to decide your own life. When you care about what others think of you, you are living their life, not yours.
However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be a good person. You may like to wear loose, baggy clothes for comfort even though many people don't find it beautiful; just ignore them. Others' judgments are useless in your life, but your ability to observe and perceive them is the opposite.

4. Step out of Your Comfort Zone
Push yourself out of your comfort zone. For example, some people want to experience the thrill of diving into the sea while others prefer to eat a special dish at their favorite restaurant.
Be brave and seize the moment to do things that you think you can't or don't dare to do! For starters, go shopping and completely change your style, but of course, don't go too overboard for your age. Experimenting with fashion is always fun and makes everything feel fresh, but it will bring you confidence whenever you dress according to your true self and personality.

5. Embrace What You Have
As you step into your forties, you may have a stable life, yet sometimes you wonder why people your age seem wealthier and happier. Humans tend to worry about what they lack without considering what they have achieved.
Forget those nagging thoughts and try listing what you have to see if they benefit you, then think about the drawbacks of what you don't have. Accept what you have and stop 'admiring distant hills.' They say 'living in a new blanket reveals its fleas,' so if you don't live in others' lives, you won't know if they're happy or unhappy.

6. Write a Letter to Yourself
Turning 40 can make you feel challenging. So, make it easier by sitting down and writing yourself a letter.
List everything you've accomplished so far, the things that make you proud, and what you love. Then, tell yourself why turning 40 will be the best thing you've ever done.

7. Never Stop Exploring
Most women in their 40s think it's a time to stay home and take care of their husband and children. However, let go of that thought because there are countless beautiful scenes waiting for you to explore out there.
Traveling may seem expensive, but if you pay attention, you can find many fantastic places to visit at very affordable prices. Just stepping out of the house, even if it's just for a 5-minute walk in the morning to breathe in the fresh air, can uplift your mood and make you feel relaxed and happy.

8. Develop a Reading Habit
At the age of forty, when children start to grow up, you may feel lonely. It's important to develop a habit that makes you feel positive and happy.
Reading not only keeps you busy but also maintains a positive attitude in life. It's also the most appropriate and effective way to deal with menopause.

9. Make Others Feel Comfortable
Short conversations with cashiers outside the store or company guards are more beneficial than you think. When you open up to others, it also means you're giving yourself a chance to solve many issues.
Practice speaking words of love to your loved ones. Be specific with your affection. Erase all anger, resentment, conflicts... if they exist and hinder your loving heart. Restore the love that you foolishly lost before.

10. Maintain Your Health
Adopt a healthy eating regimen to maintain your health. When healthy, you'll feel happy. Cut down on fried and junk foods.
Create a healthy eating plan with plenty of fruits and vegetables, ensuring your body stays hydrated. Walk at least 4 times a week to maintain your health.
