This house is known as the Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House, named after its former owner, Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, a wealthy Vietnamese of Chinese descent in the early 20th century.
Built in 1895, the Huynh Thuy Le ancient house, the main setting of the famous film 'The Lover,' remains a favorite destination for many people to this day. Particularly, the number of French tourists visiting Sa Đéc is increasing to explore the story of 'The Lover' that once shone brightly. Since the film 'The Lover' directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud was released, the images of the Mekong Delta in the 1930s and the house where Huynh Thuy Le once lived in Sa Đéc suddenly became particularly attractive to foreign tourists. About 90% of the film scenes of 'The Lover' were shot in Vietnam. When invited to advise on cultural aspects for the film, the writer Son Nam said to director J.J.
