1. Housing for Single Mothers
Many single mothers struggling to provide for their children may never expect to own a home that allows them to easily care for themselves and their families. Yet, in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, there is a unique housing complex built specifically for single mothers facing difficult circumstances, providing a safe space for those with nowhere else to go in the city.
The women living here often work physically demanding jobs, and having a secure home relieves some of the burdens of being a single mother. This initiative, conceived by former Party Secretary Nguyen Ba Thanh, reflects his deep concern and compassion for those in need.
Although the Tết holiday may not be extravagant, the warmth of the community is evident. Neighbors gather to share their stories and support one another, hoping for brighter days in the coming year.

2. International Fireworks Festival
Also known as the “Danang International Fireworks Competition,” this annual event takes place every April 30th, with the first festival held in 2008.
Initially, the event was planned for March 29th to coincide with the liberation of Da Nang, but due to unfavorable weather conditions, the city moved the celebration to late April, aligning it with the Liberation of South Vietnam in 1975. With a different theme each year, the festival has become a signature event for Da Nang, accompanied by various activities like traditional boat races on the Han River, floral boat displays, art exhibitions, and floating lanterns on the Han River, offering visitors a captivating experience during the fireworks shows.

3. Ba Na Cable Car
Originally a French resort, Ba Na gradually faded into obscurity after the August Revolution of 1945. It wasn’t until 2000, when it was rebuilt on a larger scale, that it regained its former glory.
When completed, the Ba Na cable car set four world records, awarded by Carlos Martínez Nogués, a representative from the Guinness World Records. These records include: the longest cable car ride (5,801 meters), the highest elevation difference between the departure and arrival stations (1,368 meters), the longest total cable length of any cable car system (11,587 meters), and the heaviest cable of any cable car system (141.24 tons).
Currently, the Ba Na cable car costs 740,000 VND for out-of-town visitors and 400,000 VND for Da Nang residents.

Alongside Bahia Beach (Brazil), Bondi (Australia), Castelo (Portugal), Las Minitas (Dominican Republic), and Wailea (USA), My Khe Beach ranks 6th among the world's most attractive beaches. 6. Free Parking
The sign that reads 'Free Parking, Those Who Pay Do So at Their Own Risk' is a familiar sight for Da Nang locals, especially when visiting the Eye Hospital. Although free parking has been introduced at several hospitals in the city, this particular sign has left a strong impression whenever the topic of free parking comes up.
Thousands of motorcycles enter and exit the hospital daily, and the savings from the free parking service would be quite significant if converted into money. Thanks to the support of the local community, particularly families and relatives of patients receiving treatment at the hospital, this initiative not only saves transportation costs but also helps contribute to medical expenses.

7. Friendly Police
Da Nang is also known for the friendly demeanor of its traffic police. Unlike in some other places, if you're a tourist or business traveler and you accidentally drive into a one-way street or take the wrong route, the traffic police usually just give you a friendly reminder to follow the correct path. They may even offer helpful guidance on how to navigate certain special routes.
For local residents, the traffic police sometimes simply warn offenders without issuing fines. Additionally, if you pay attention at busy intersections, you may occasionally see officers assisting pedestrians in crossing the street quickly, helping to improve traffic flow.

8. Free Cancer Treatment at the Cancer Hospital for the Poor
Officially inaugurated in early 2013, Da Nang Cancer Hospital was the first facility in the country to offer free treatment for the poor. The hospital also provides free accommodation and meals for patients and their families who are from low-income backgrounds. For patients who are not from poor households and lack health insurance, the hospital charges a fee equal to or lower than the treatment cost at other cancer departments in the country.
The hospital was built following the vision of the late former Party Secretary, Nguyen Ba Thanh. He emphasized that the hospital should closely monitor the economic conditions of patients, offering financial assistance if needed to help stabilize their lives or recommending that relevant authorities provide further support.
Although the hospital faced several challenges in its early operations, in September 2015, the local government decided to merge Da Nang Cancer Hospital with the oncology department of Da Nang General Hospital to form the Da Nang Cancer and Tumor Hospital. Despite the change from a private to a public institution, the hospital continues to offer free treatment for the poor.

9. Free 5-Star Public Restrooms
After nearly a month of construction, the 5-star public restroom opened in late April 2016 at the intersection of Le Duan and Tran Phu Streets. With a total investment of nearly 1 billion VND, the restroom has two separate sections for men and women, both equipped with luxury amenities to 5-star standards. These include an automatic flush sensor system, large mirrors, stylish handwashing basins, and music systems.
The restroom was built with private funding from Sacombank and operates with staff on duty daily from 5 AM to 10 PM to ensure cleanliness and comfort. This is the first pilot project of its kind in Da Nang, and if successful, the city authorities plan to expand it across the city. The restroom was designed to serve both locals and visitors, and all who have used it are pleased with its high standard of convenience.

10. Citywide Security Surveillance Cameras
This security camera system, implemented by the Da Nang Development Association, is designed to provide real-time information about traffic, congestion, accidents, and public safety at key locations. After a successful trial phase, cameras have been installed at major traffic intersections such as Hue Intersection and Han River Bridge.
What makes this system unique is that both the government and residents can monitor traffic conditions live through websites, such as http://camera.0511.vn. This allows the public to avoid traffic jams or construction zones, while helping authorities detect and respond to accidents and other incidents quickly. The system also aids in resolving traffic-related complaints.
Currently, the Da Nang Development Association is seeking further investment to expand the project. Although the system is still in the trial phase and the number of cameras is limited, it already receives thousands of daily visits.
