These birds are typically found in tropical regions, with Southeast Asia being home to the largest diversity. The Turtle Dove has brown plumage on its back with darker shades on the wings. Its head is gray, while its neck and belly are brown-gray, tinged with pink. Its call resembles a soft whistle or trilling sound. The main food of this bird is insects.
Commonly found in Vietnam's agricultural regions, the Turtle Dove belongs to the pigeon family. This species is familiar to local farmers and is often seen throughout the countryside. The Parrot is undoubtedly one of the most attention-grabbing birds, with its vibrant colors and adorable nature, especially its remarkable ability to mimic human speech. Parrots, also known as cockatoos or macaws, belong to the Psittaciformes order, with around 393 species spread across 92 genera, predominantly found in tropical and subtropical regions.
Parrot enthusiasts often keep these birds for companionship and entertainment. Although beloved for their ability to mimic voices, parrots are still wild animals and tend to be independent and messy. Their unpredictable nature means cleaning up after them can be a challenge!


8. Mynah Bird
The Mynah is an intelligent bird known for its ability to mimic human speech. However, the Mynah birds in Vietnam are often quite aggressive, so taming one requires a true passion for birds, patience, and care. As one of the more beautiful species kept as pets, it’s common to see Mynah birds in Vietnamese homes. Their diet typically consists of insects, crickets, and rice, which are easy to find.
If you’re keeping one in a cage, feeding them bananas, peanuts mixed with eggs, and rice is ideal. There are around 30 different Mynah species worldwide, with the most common being the yellow-billed green mynah, black mynah, and brown mynah. These small birds have brown plumage, and when raised in captivity, they often develop a golden-brown color. One of the reasons Skylarks are so popular is because they are relatively easy to care for, with their diet primarily consisting of insects and grains.
Skylarks also exhibit a fascinating flying behavior where they rise high into the air before gently descending while singing, creating a captivating sight. Therefore, if you're considering keeping a Skylark, it's important to have a tall cage to allow the bird enough space to fly and maneuver freely.
