2. Da Bac Cave
Da Bac Cave, also known as Fairy Cave, is located in Lien Son commune, Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province. Situated within Pai Day Mountain (also called Hang Beo Mountain), Da Bac Cave consists of three smaller caves: Co Tien Cave, Long Tien Cave, and Mau Cave, which were discovered by local residents in 1990. The cave stretches nearly 70 meters in length, with its widest point measuring 22 meters and the highest point at 15 meters. Da Bac Cave is considered a remarkable natural masterpiece, blending sculpture and painting, grandeur and delicate elegance in an extraordinary way.
Local legends tell that, long ago, celestial fairies, bored with the heavenly realm, decided to descend to the mortal world to admire the beauty of Earth. Enchanted by the breathtaking landscapes, they wandered into Da Bac Cave, where the scene inside amazed them beyond measure. Stalactites shimmered, and the cave’s curved ceilings seemed like a celestial haven. Mesmerized by the beauty, the fairies lost track of time and decided not to return to the heavens. Enraged, the Jade Emperor sealed the gates of Heaven, trapping the fairies in the cave forever. Thus, Da Bac Cave is also known as Fairy Cave (Động Tiên).
Upon entering Da Bac Cave, visitors are immediately struck by the sight of clusters of shimmering stalactites hanging from above, resembling flowers in bloom. When illuminated, the rocks glow with brilliant shades of green, red, purple, and golden hues. As you venture deeper, you will encounter numerous small chambers, each one sparking curiosity, revealing hidden corners that remain elusive no matter how many times you explore.
Not only are visitors captivated by the cave’s strange formations, but they are also enchanted by the sacred Udumbara flowers, whose delicate petals resemble fine white threads. Each flower tip contains a small glowing bead, believed to bring good fortune.

Inside Thac Bo Cave, visitors will find a fascinating array of stalactites, shaped over centuries by the steady drip of mineral-rich water. These formations include a variety of shapes, such as a carp transforming into a dragon, golden and silver trees, umbrellas, and Mường musical instruments, their sounds echoing like celestial chimes. The cave's beauty deepens as you walk further in, with narrow, winding paths and areas that stretch farther during dry seasons, creating an immersive experience that feels like an endless journey. The deeper you go, the more stunning the stalactites appear, hanging from above and rising from the ground like pieces of natural art.
In addition to the cave, you can explore nearby attractions such as Trach Spring, the Windmill Resort Island, the Sunday morning Bờ market, and Ngòi Hoa Cave.
