Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, also known as Ba Dinh Mausoleum, is the final resting place of President Ho Chi Minh. In accordance with the heartfelt wishes of the entire Party and people, during the meeting on the morning of November 29, 1969, the Central Committee of the Party discussed and decided: With boundless love and eternal gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, we must perform to the best of our ability the task of preserving the President's remains and building His Mausoleum. Our Party and State decided to build His Mausoleum at the historical Ba Dinh Square, where He read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
The Mausoleum is an imposing architectural structure, standing at 21.6 meters high, with a width of 31 meters. Two wings extend on both sides. During the summer, it's a place where families can bring children to explore and learn more about the nation's glorious history.
The Mausoleum consists of three layers: the lower layer is built with three-level terraces, the middle layer is the central part of the Mausoleum with the embalmed body chamber, corridors, and stairs. The outside of the Mausoleum is covered with gray granite, and the interior is polished gray and red stones. Four sides are surrounded by square columns made of basalt, and the top layer is a three-level pyramid-shaped roof.
