1. Take Your Studies and Exams Seriously
In university, there are no short quizzes or oral exams like in high school. Here, each subject is assessed primarily through mid-term and final exams, with weightings ranging from 20% to 50% for the midterm, while the final exam makes up the rest. Typically, the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology assigns a 50% weight to continuous assessment, so attending classes regularly and mastering the material for the midterm and final exams is essential. Mid-term exams are diverse, depending on the instructor, and final exams are usually held in a large-scale, central format, similar to university entrance exams. Maintaining a serious attitude towards exams is a strong tradition at this university. It's important to avoid even thinking about cheating during final exams, as the penalties for violating exam regulations are strictly enforced. Students should adopt a serious mindset from the start, rather than waiting until it’s too late to make changes. Also, strive to complete your courses in the current semester because tuition fees are steadily increasing each year, and retaking failed courses can be costly.

8. Follow the University’s Regulations
Adhering to the university's regulations is highly beneficial for students. Not only does it help avoid inconveniences (such as receiving a minor disciplinary action like a 'Warning', which can lead to losing scholarships, missing out on rewards, forfeiting other student benefits, and damaging your academic record), but it also supports academic success and can improve job prospects after graduation. Ultimately, following the rules helps students develop into responsible citizens who contribute positively to society. This is the core purpose of education and the reason students strive and work hard every day to achieve their goals.

9. Mandatory Health Checkup Upon Enrollment
A health checkup is mandatory for all new students during the enrollment process at the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology. What makes this health checkup unique is that male students will undergo a medical examination similar to a 'military service physical'. Male students are guided to a private room in the central building where around 20 students are examined at once by three doctors. During the process, all students gather in one spot, and the doctors proceed with the male health examination for each of them. Although some students may feel uneasy about undergoing this exam in front of others, the process is quick and efficient, and students usually leave feeling at ease and reassured.

10. The First University to Use the Auditorium as a Student Rest Area with Air Conditioning
In addition to the air-conditioned study rooms, the university has also invested in a special resting area for students. On the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day (November 20th), the president of the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology decided to open a newly renovated air-conditioned rest area for all students. This initiative is the result of generous contributions from alumni, donors, and faculty members. With a focus on human-centered education, the university hopes to provide students with a comfortable place to relax after their demanding study hours. The rest area, which can accommodate up to 200 students daily, is open Monday through Friday. In addition to the large auditorium, there are also designated study areas in the A Block library, the High-Quality Library, and the A Block corridors, giving students various spaces to unwind and recharge.

11. Essential Clothing for School
When you think of the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology, you can easily imagine the student attire at this institution. In reality, the university doesn't have strict dress codes like other teaching universities. However, students should adhere to the following guidelines:
- Shirts: collared shirts or polos
- Pants: long, neat, and not overly flashy
- Footwear: sandals with straps or closed shoes
- Always wear your student ID.
Students may face difficulties when interacting with the university's youth volunteer team, faculty, staff, or especially when visiting student service offices like: Training, Student Affairs, Planning & Finance, the Library, Faculty Offices, Student Union, and the Media and Event Center if they are not dressed according to the guidelines. Taking a few minutes each day to dress appropriately will help students feel more confident and act more professionally. This simple step not only helps with communication but also cultivates neatness, carefulness, and professionalism, which is essential for success in any modern workplace.

12. Make Use of Your Time by Reading Books at the Library
The first piece of advice for students is to take library study sessions seriously and familiarize yourself with the Library Rules. At the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (HCMUTE) Library, there are two types of book borrowing: textbook borrowing and reference book borrowing.
- Textbooks can be borrowed once per semester.
- Reference books can be borrowed for short periods (3 weeks at a time).
To avoid losing textbooks, students should write their name, phone number, and student ID number in pencil on the first page. Only use pencil for notes or sticky notes on the pages. Before returning the books, erase any pencil marks, and try to return textbooks one week before the due date to avoid the rush. Don’t forget to bring an eraser to clean up any remaining pencil marks. The library also provides reading rooms and free computer access for students.

13. Timely Payment of Tuition Fees
Failure to comply with the tuition payment regulations can lead to disciplinary action at HCMUTE. In 2017, the University of Danang – University of Science and Technology (HCMUTE) transitioned to financial autonomy, with the following tuition fees:
- 15 million VND/year (for Economics and English Language majors),
- 17 million VND/year (for Engineering majors),
- 27 million VND/year (for Vietnamese medium High Quality Program in Economics and English),
- 28 million VND/year (for Engineering).
This slight increase in fees compared to previous semesters may catch students off guard. For the 2018-2019 academic year, the tuition rate per credit hour is 525,000 VND for Engineering students and 455,000 VND for Economics and English students. There are two payment installments per semester (excluding Summer). If possible, students should aim to pay in full during the first installment to avoid crowds and delays. The university processes payments quickly during this time, so students should complete payments at least one week before the deadline to allow for any last-minute issues. Tuition payment details can be checked at the Finance Office’s computers, where students can see the different fees for courses based on their nature (e.g., theory, practice, first-time enrollment, re-sits). For students in financial difficulty, they may explore the following options:
- Apply for student loans from the Social Policy Bank.
- Inquire about government tuition exemptions or reductions, or those offered by the university at the Student Affairs Office.
- Submit a request for an extension on tuition payments at the Finance Office.
Regardless of the financial autonomy model, timely tuition payment will help students focus on their academic goals at HCMUTE.
