Drift toward the shore where we first met.
Back then, you were so beautiful,
Standing by the temple every afternoon, lost in thought...

The village was quiet, with few young men,
Yet I failed the selection two or three times.
Then came the time I joined the militia,
Gradually growing close to my fellow soldiers.

Enthralled by your sharp, almond eyes,
We joyfully performed in the village play,
Joined in the lively songs and dance,
And shared moments of fun and joy.

Now I think of you, and of me,
Like birds flying side by side, like trees with roots entwined...
