1. Poem: Autumn Sings
AUTUMN SINGS
Poem by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Where he passed, a lush green
Where I return, rice unveils its young shoots
Autumn arrives, still gracefully lingering
Newly harvested rice, fragrant and warm
Clouds, strange, intermittently cross the mountains
Then drift away, leaving the field in play
Why does the wind sound like music?
Suddenly sinking into the waves of swaying rice?
A tuft of grass stands waiting in the distance
The Autumn melody plays a longing evening tune
Sunset conceals Autumn's singing
For someone to find, in the shadow of the sun's glow
fluttering...
Hanoi, August 20, Autumn 2018.

2. Poem: WHO KNOWS
WHO KNOWS
Poem by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Who knows when early summer arrives
Gazing at the rice flowers falling in March
Hair yet to fly in the enchanting hues
The boat to the spring river has already left.
You still promise to take me there
Perhaps the narrow path is blocked
Or the shore ends, the boat is gone, and the oars abandoned?
Silently following the footsteps back
Alright, the clouds are turning pink, the sun shines
April returns like an open book
You gather the verses on the mountain's peak
Picking up dried petals,
pressing golden dreams....

3. Poem: THE QUIET GARDENS WHERE SOMEONE'S FOOTSTEPS LIE
THE QUIET GARDENS WHERE SOMEONE'S FOOTSTEPS LIE
Poem by Nguyễn Phương Anh
I will wait for you in the golden autumn seasons
In the quiet gardens where someone's footsteps lie
I will wait for you in every early morning
Or when the sunset invites the sun back into the mountains...
Initially, you bewildered me
Your eyes ignited my tender heart
At the age of twenty, dreaming softly
A couple's dream blossomed in the summer afternoon.
Long gone, we've been apart for so long!
The diverging paths lost in their own reverie
If real life has a next life
I will wait for you
Through Spring passing
Summer arriving
Fall returning
Winter at its roots...

4. Poem: ON A DAY
ON A DAY
Poem by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Wind, oh wind
Please don't rage so fiercely
Summon the clouds to dance all evening
Paint the sky with countless sunbeams
In the rolling purple of longing
Wind, oh wind
Don't play the guitar with such fervor
The sweet love song pierces the heart
The golden light tenderly kisses the lips
The river lays silver for countless years
Wind, oh wind
Don't borrow the tall branch to write
Poetry that overwhelms the soul
So the sunset burns eternally
The red color of rice flowers illuminates the sky of the Đuống River
Her heart is like water
Flowing gently like sunshine after the rain
Tiny, like the blossoms of the sua tree
Fragile like that
Sending fragrance to the wind
But she holds the storm within
On a day arriving at
the dreamy shore ....

5. Poem: I WON'T LOOK BACK
I WON'T LOOK BACK
Poem by Nguyễn Phương Anh
I won't look back there
When the piano starts playing
For in every breeze
It carries the melody to me
I won't look back there
Because in that small courtyard
You will see me
Rosy cheeks shining
Knowing we're close
Why are your words so hard to say
Leaving now, distant and vague
Sad clouds
drifting endlessly ....

6. Poem: GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Poem by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Oh dear,
You told me not to be sad in moments of distance
Yet my heart is incredibly fragile
My hair dances in tangled threads
And the violet evening sunbeam is so delicate...
Oh dear,
I understand that a single pang of pain
Is a heart shattered into a thousand tiny pieces
Like crystal sparkling a million brilliant times
Yet reduced to small, trembling green fragments
Oh dear,
When I hear words of gratitude from you
It bleeds from my heart, color fading
Dry eyes, but a soul in agonizing pain
I revert to a tiny, lost child …

7. Poem: SINGING AT LIM FESTIVAL
SINGING AT LIM FESTIVAL
Poem by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Waiting for you
Arranging the conical hat
A cluster of three or seven
Cherry blossom skirt adds charm
When the time comes
Lim Festival
You stand
On the porch
Singing in pairs ...

8. Poem: WHY?
WHY?
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Why did you depart
In a hasty evening?
Turning the sky into a stranger
The land, too, feels unknown
How could you hurriedly forget
Things left unspoken?
The river still meanders
Not solely for me
Rows of trees drop the night's curtain
The old road is intimately desolate
Which autumn does this poem speak of?
Purple orchids, where?
Where are the moonlit seasons
The scent of lotus drifting
Poetry sows hexameters and octameters
Rhythmic verses gracefully descend...
You are now too distant
At the corner of the sky and sea
Night tears quietly overflow
Sorrow continues to drift...

9. Poem: THE WIND BLOWS AWAY
THE WIND BLOWS AWAY
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
The wind blows away
Rivers filled with sunlight
Sparkling lakes in night dew
Layers of falling yellow leaves, silently
Who stands alone at the end of the street?
The wind blows away
Since when, it's unclear
Seasons of flowers blending sun and rain
Summer sky sways over the old path
Who steps lightly on the stone-paved sidewalk?
Oh, autumn
Which distant melody echoes from afar?
Hear the throbbing of strings and musical notes
Oh vastness of ancient sorrows
She returns, oh clouds
The wind blows away...

10. Poem: THE COLOR OF SPRING
THE COLOR OF SPRING
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Grass glistens with the color of spring
The distant mountain seems both near and far
The river, adorned with jade and ivory
The boat carries our hearts, brimming...
Hanoi, 30/8/2017.

11. Poem: BETWEEN TWO TIMES
BETWEEN TWO TIMES
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Spring reverses the shadows, entering the land
Between two phases of time, you stand
Beneath the foliage, a golden hue
And red flowers, like a velvet reminiscence.
The grass remains green, spring continues to rise
The spring buds fervently embrace each tree
Distant mountains, harboring a cloud's dream
You stand still
between two directions
flowing
against...

12. Poem: ANGER
ANGER
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
The sun shall not rise
No golden rays to illuminate the skies
Flowers shall refuse to bloom
No fragrant scent to fill the room.
The wind will sulk and resent
Pass through realms of light and dark
No one shall bother to await
Another message any more!
Hanoi, 9/7/2012.

13. Poem: DREAM OF HEAVENLY ABODE
DREAM OF HEAVENLY ABODE
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Light as a wisp of cloud
Gentle as the breeze's touch
Eyes deep and vast
The red hue of flowers as you pass…
Far away
Does the moon faintly throb?
Rippling waves of the river
Whose harp strings play the melody of hearts
In the silent night…
I release my soul
Upon the tranquil river's flow
You appear
A phantom of the past, ethereal…
Oh, time, why do you not await?
Miracles to dissolve
Passing through those naive years
Of innocent youth…
Here I remain
The old love you sent
But pressed and dried, the young green leaves…
Oh, beloved!
Let's accept the parting in this life
Two skies, two separate souls
The bygone spring has dissolved into the mist
I shall rendezvous with you in the dream of the heavenly abode…
Hanoi, 30/5/2013.

14. Poem: ONE AFTERNOON
ONE AFTERNOON
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
Nostalgia, oh the bygone era
Years past etched deeply in memories
Unexpectedly, childhood feels so real
Granting us a bit of fragility.
The golden lights of the street corner sparkle
Dusk quietly descends upon the leaves
Long ago, why does the peculiar nostalgia persist?
One afternoon, I stood waiting for you…
Hanoi, 9/3/2013

15. Poem: I WILL NOT
I WILL NOT
Poetry by Nguyễn Phương Anh
I will not ask the street
In an aimless evening stroll
Far, far away, the golden lights
Are they sad, perhaps a bit misty?
I will not question the clouds
When unfinished verses linger
Does the longing still echo
From the days spent together?
I will not sit anywhere
The station tightens in the evening
Like the heart’s numbness
The train whistle separates us
I won't pass by either
Footprints still faintly in the grass
Heart overflowing with memories
Oh dear, where are you now?
Hanoi, 12/8/2012
