1. The Great Man-Made River
To expand agriculture in the region, the Libyan government developed the world’s largest irrigation project, called the Great Man-Made River. These images prove that the project has significantly boosted agricultural growth in the area since 1983.

2. Turning Deserts into Farmland
These photos of the Wadi As-Sirhan basin in Saudi Arabia showcase the remarkable transformation of the desert over the past 30 years. This area has been developed into actual farmland! Local authorities decided to tap into deep water reserves, some of which are kilometers below the surface, allowing farmers to grow fruits and vegetables in the desert.

3. Urbanization
The images above depict the massive urbanization process of Binhai City, China. Since 1990, Binhai has transformed from a marshland into a major economic zone. Today, it is home to numerous aerospace, chemical, and other manufacturing companies.

4. Artificial Islands
To boost beach tourism, the Dubai government has created a large number of artificial islands along the coastline, covering a total of 2.5 million square meters. The most famous of these islands are designed in the shape of palm trees. The satellite image above also reveals the significant development on land, with barren desert being replaced by soil and irrigation roads.

5. Technology
The past 50 years have been marked by incredible scientific progress and innovation. Just think back to not long ago when few people owned mobile phones, self-driving cars were a mere dream, and the internet was a distant concept. Today, nearly billion people worldwide are constantly using mobile phones and the internet.

6. Information Society
In today's world, information is more accessible than ever, allowing people to learn anything with just a click. It sounds amazing, but in reality, most people have become overwhelmed by information overload. You have emails and social media messages to respond to, YouTube videos to watch, e-books and magazines to read – and that's just the virtual side of life! Information overload is one of the biggest challenges for modern humans, and it can only be managed through self-control, goal-setting, and selecting the right information to focus on.

7. Communication
Currently, there are 3 billion social media users worldwide. Social media platforms are among the most influential applications of the internet. On one hand, they make communication cheaper and more accessible regardless of distance. On the other hand, they have significantly reduced verbal communication compared to 20 years ago.

8. Activities
Leisure activities have also changed over the past few decades. While parents love having their children engage in outdoor activities, kids now prefer to stay indoors to watch TV, surf the internet, or play video games. It may sound sad, but things aren't all that bad! A recent survey shows that video games enhance brain focus and sensory skills. Of course, children are still at risk of video game addiction. Parents should take greater control over this issue!

9. Fashion
Previously, textile styles and clothing were among the clearest indicators of cultural identity. Over the past few decades, the rapid rise of globalization has caused fashion trends to spread across cultures worldwide, reflecting changes in the economy, culture, and daily life.

10. Parenting
Parenting has changed significantly over the years, largely due to advances in technology! While outdoor activities and reading still play a crucial role in children's development, many parents today rely on various tech tools to engage their kids. Some experts argue that children should avoid screens like phones or TVs, while others believe it's not an issue as long as activities for children remain diverse and balanced.

11. Aging Population
The world is rapidly aging. People over the age of 60 now make up 12% of the global population. This group is growing the fastest, and by 2050, this percentage could increase to nearly 22%.
The aging population is a result of decades of scientific and social progress. Better nutrition, healthcare, education, and economic welfare have all contributed to longer and healthier lives for people worldwide.

12. Social Issues
New social issues arise with each generation. The past half-century has seen remarkable achievements in this field. Significant progress has been made in areas such as race, age, gender, religion, and gender equality.
While society is far from perfect, changes—especially in terms of equal rights—have greatly improved the lives of many people.

13. Drying Lakes
Poopó is Bolivia's second-largest lake and an essential fishing resource for the local community. However, it is now nearly dry due to mining and agricultural activities. This is not the first time the lake has dried up. The last time Poopó ran dry was in 1994, and it took several years for the water to return, with ecosystems taking even longer to recover.

14. Melting Ice
This is the famous Swiss ski resort, the Matterhorn Mountain. However, the ice here has melted significantly due to the effects of global warming.

15. Reduced Air Pollution
Not all changes occurring on Earth are negative. For instance, satellite data from NASA reveals a significant reduction in nitrogen dioxide pollution from cars and power plants in the U.S. between 2005 and 2011. Since 2005, the U.S. government has implemented an environmental reform package, transitioning from coal to natural gas.
