1. Hoang Van Thu Bridge
Hoang Van Thu Bridge spans across the Cam River, connecting Minh Khai Ward, Hong Bang District with Tan Duong Commune, Thuy Nguyen District.
Commenced in January 2017, Hoang Van Thu Bridge is one of the key components of the infrastructure development project in the North Cam River urban area. The bridge, resembling a seabird, features a prestressed concrete girder, 33.5 meters wide, comprising 2 pedestrian sidewalks, 2 mixed-use lanes, and 4 motorized vehicle lanes.
After over 2 years of construction, the bridge was officially inaugurated on October 15, 2019, becoming the most beautiful bridge in Hai Phong. Particularly, this project contributes to urban beautification and development, elevating Hai Phong to a new position and laying the foundation for future growth.
2. Le Hong Phong Bridge
Le Hong Phong Bridge is a flyover at the intersection of Le Hong Phong - Nguyen Binh Khiem.
Le Hong Phong Bridge is a vital artery expanding Hai Phong's urban space, part of the investment project to build the Ho Sen - Rao 2 Bridge route, a critically important project contributing to completing the urban transportation system in the southern and southeastern parts of the city. According to the design, the flyover has an arch bridge structure, a bridge length of 288.2m, a main span of 100m, and a bridge deck width of 19m, with barrier walls at both ends ranging from 16.5m to 19m wide; the road surface is 7.5m wide, and the sidewalk is 3m wide, making it a first-class transportation project with a total investment of 1,405 billion VND from the city's budget. This transportation axis helps complete the transportation network, reduce traffic congestion for the Cau Dat - Lach Tray - Rao route, leverage the effectiveness of exploiting the Rao 2 Bridge, and increase transport capacity for Hai Phong's seaport system.
Le Hong Phong Bridge is adorned with LED lighting systems on its suspension cables, leaving an architectural imprint on Hai Phong. It is also one of the city's important traffic junctions. Le Hong Phong Bridge is designed with a steel arch suspension structure of 5 spans, 16m wide with 4 motorized vehicle lanes. Le Hong Phong Bridge plays a crucial role in eliminating traffic black spots, ensuring convenient and safe travel for residents.
3. Bach Dang Bridge
Bach Dang Bridge spans across Bach Dang River connecting Quang Ninh Province with Hai Phong City
Officially inaugurated on September 2, 2018, Bach Dang Bridge has become a crucial transportation hub linking Hai Phong and Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. It contributes to reducing traffic congestion on National Highway 18 and National Highway 10, shortening travel distances and times between the two provinces. This fosters the economic development of Hai Phong - Quang Ninh as well as the key economic region of Northern Vietnam.
Bach Dang Bridge consists of 4 spans with a total width of 28m and 3 H-shaped towers with 2 cable planes. It is one of the largest bridges in the country, ranking third among the 7 bridges with the most spans in the world.
4. Lac Long Bridge
Spanning the tranquil Tam Bac River, connecting Dien Bien Phu Street with Bach Dang Street, with a length of 92m, Lac Long Bridge is one of the earliest bridges built in Hai Phong. In the past, the bridge was named Giop Bridge (Pont Joffre), then after the August Revolution, it was renamed Ngô Quyền Bridge. Since 1954, the bridge has been named Lac Long Bridge. The bridge once served as a vital transportation artery of the city during the war and became a target of American airstrikes, enduring up to 16 bombing raids, resulting in complete destruction at times.
In 1991, the City People's Committee reconstructed the entire bridge with a length of 150m and a width of 15m. Lac Long Bridge spans across the Tam Bac River amidst surrounding flower gardens. It is one of the distinctive architectural features of Hai Phong City.
5. Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge
Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge connects Hai An District with Cat Hai Island District.
Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge is the longest sea-crossing bridge in Vietnam and one of the largest in Southeast Asia. The sea-crossing section is 5.44 km long, with an approach road of 10.19 km and a width of 16m with 4 lanes for vehicles.
This is one of the key transportation projects in Hai Phong. Not only serving Hai Phong's economy, Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge also significantly contributes to the tourism development of Cat Ba Island District.
6. Khuế Bridge
Khuế Bridge spans across Van Úc River, connecting An Lão District and Tiên Lãng District (10/2007-10/2010), is one of the projects utilizing Government bond capital, evaluated as highly effective and significant in promoting socio-economic development, national defense, and security in the southwestern districts and the city. The construction of Khuế Bridge replacing the Khuế ferry contributes to improving transportation infrastructure, facilitating travel, enhancing transport demand, promoting the development of industries, services, and improving the economic life of people, ensuring the locality's poverty reduction and hunger eradication goals, moving towards achieving the industrialization and modernization objectives of the city for the 2010-2030 period. The completion of Khuế Bridge is the long-standing dream come true for the people of the impoverished districts.
Khuế Bridge has a length of 787 meters and a width of 11 meters. This is an important road connecting An Lão and Tiên Lãng districts of Hai Phong city. Put into operation since 2010, Khuế Bridge holds a particularly important position in the hearts of Tiên Lãng people, breaking the 'isolated island' position of the locality. Along with that, the bridge has opened up new development opportunities for Tiên Lãng in particular and Hai Phong in general.
7. Quay Bridge (Tam Bạc Bridge)
When mentioning famous bridges in Hai Phong, we cannot overlook Quay Bridge – the bridge of history spanning over the Cấm River. Built over 100 years ago during the French colonial period, the bridge, also known as the revolving bridge, features a central pivot allowing it to rotate, operated by a system of gears. Witnessing many ups and downs in the nation's history, Quay Bridge still stands proudly and remains a symbol of national pride.
In 2013, Hai Phong constructed the Tam Bạc road bridge parallel to Quay Bridge to meet the transportation needs between the Hồng Bàng and Lê Chân districts, relieving the traffic burden on this hundred-year-old bridge.
8. Bính Bridge
Together with Kiền Bridge, Bính Bridge has also contributed to relieving the traffic burden on National Highway 5 and National Highway 10. It has also contributed to the development strategy of the Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh economic triangle, creating favorable conditions for the development of the North Cấm River urban area.
Completed in 2005, Bính Bridge was built with a length of 25 m, width of 22.5 m, which has put an end to the ferry crossing, shortening the distance and time for people in Thủy Nguyên district.
After the completion of Bính Bridge, industrial zones and urban areas north of the Cấm River have been formed, creating significant conditions for socio-economic development in Thủy Nguyên district and Hai Phong city as a whole, effectively implementing the industrialization and modernization strategy, agricultural and rural development, bringing economic development to the advantageous area previously only connected to downtown Hai Phong by ferry. Bính Bridge completion has realized the dreams of over 275,000 people living in Thủy Nguyên district, ending the era of ferry crossing. Consequently, the market for natural materials and agricultural and industrial products has expanded and developed better.
9. Kiền Bridge
Following the Mỹ Thuận Bridge, this is the second largest cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam, with a total length of 1,186m and a width of 16.7m constructed by the consortium of Sumitomo Mitsui (Japan) - Thăng Long Construction Company (Vietnam). Kiền Bridge is positioned to connect Kiền ferry terminal to National Highway 10, spanning the Cấm River.
Previously, travel between the two riverbanks was only possible by ferry, which often involved waiting delays. After two years, overcoming challenges of weather and complex geological conditions, as well as advancements in technology, modern equipment was transferred for the first time in Vietnam.
The construction of this bridge involved large-scale operations, including drilling pile foundations with diameters of ø2m and ø1m, with depths ranging from 70 to 80m, totaling 13,680m in length; constructing nearly 100m tall tower crane gate towers; casting box girders and installing 110 box girders weighing 14,300 tons using cantilever construction method, with a lifting height of 30m; tensioning 375 tons of prestressed cables, consisting of 36 pairs of stay cables; pouring 45,000m3 of reinforced concrete; and using 6,910 tons of steel for bridge construction.
This project significantly contributes to promoting socio-economic development in the coastal areas of Northern Vietnam and also serves as a commemoration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Kiền Bridge was inaugurated on September 28, 2003.
10. Tam Bạc River Overpass
Tam Bạc River Overpass connects from the intersection of Trần Nguyên Hãn - Quang Trung - Tam Bạc to Chương Dương Street, a project constructed by Sơn Trường Co., Ltd. as a gift to Hai Phong City with a total investment of nearly 80 billion Vietnamese dong.
Tam Bạc River Overpass has a length of 130m, including approach roads totaling 178m, a width of 26.4m, a clearance height of 5.5m, and a load capacity of 18 tons. Of this, 10 meters are dedicated to vehicle lanes, and each side has sidewalks measuring 8.2 meters wide, with comprehensive investment in greenery, artistic lighting systems, and full automation.
11. Barrier 2 Bridge
Barrier 2 Bridge spans the Lạch Tray River, about 1 km upstream from the old Barrier Bridge, connecting to Ho Sen - Barrier 2 Bridge road and to Road 353 (Pham Van Dong Street) from Hai Phong to Do Son. The project is built according to the city's urban space development plan and holds significant importance in the socio-economic development strategy.
Barrier 2 Bridge was completed simultaneously with the Barrier 2 Bridge - Nguyen Van Linh intersection, contributing to the creation of a complete transportation network, connecting the city center to Pham Van Dong Street and the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway. The project contributes to promoting the development of industrial, economic, and tourism areas. Both sides of the Barrier 2 Bridge - Nguyen Van Linh intersection are forming new urban areas, modern commercial centers of large domestic and foreign corporations, gradually changing the urban landscape of the southern area of the city.
Additionally, on both sides of the road, new urban areas and modern commercial centers are being constructed, contributing to creating a modern space and the daily transformation of the southern area of the city.
12. Han Bridge and Đang Bridge
The investment project for constructing Han Bridge and Đang Bridge was approved by the Prime Minister under a special mechanism for urgent projects. After 8 months since the groundbreaking, both projects have been completed, ensuring the schedule and quality.
These two bridges have similar designs, permanent concrete and steel bridges, with Han Bridge measuring 256.21 meters and Đang Bridge 252.79 meters in length, and a bridge width of 12 meters; HL93 design load; navigational clearance dimensions of 32x5m. The total investment for Han Bridge is 170 billion VND and for Đang Bridge is 172 billion VND, funded from the city's budget.
Han Bridge and Đang Bridge are not only significant in connecting the two banks of Vĩnh Bảo and Tiên Lãng districts but also in connecting the coastal transportation area of Thái Bình and Nam Định provinces to Hai Phong city.
13. Vu Yen Bridge
Vu Yen Bridge has a total length of 636m, with an average span structure of ~44m. The bridge is designed with a width of 20m including 4 lanes (each 3.5m long) and 2 sidewalks, equipped with a modern LED lighting system. The bridge features an expanded X-shaped pier, using pre-stressed cables along the longitudinal direction of the bridge for the V-shaped piers to span the longest span, meeting the III navigation clearance.
Vu Yen Bridge 1, invested and constructed by Vingroup Corporation, with 04 lanes over 600m crossing the Cấm River, connecting urban areas, Viship industrial zone with Vu Yen island, completing the urban transportation network. After nearly 06 months of implementation with 100% privatization capital, Vu Yen Bridge I was completed to meet public transportation needs while also serving as a landscape project connecting two service-industrial centers on both sides of the river. This will be a milestone in seamless connectivity, contributing to completing the transportation network according to the plan, promoting the development of the Vu Yen island area.
14. Kien An Bridge
Kien An Bridge is a project commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Party's establishment. The bridge spans over provincial road 351 across the Lach Tray River, connecting Kien An district and An Duong district. It serves as a vital artery linking two economically and densely populated regions, playing a crucial role in the city's transportation network.
Kien An Bridge is of permanent scale, with continuous pre-stressed concrete box girders spanning five spans, a total length of 252.3 meters, designed load capacity of H30 - XB80, bridge width of 12 meters, including two lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for pedestrians. 15. Rào 1 Bridge
Rao Bridge stands as a testament to the fierce resilience of the people of Hai Phong during the tumultuous wartime era. Spanning across the Lach Tray River, it connects Lach Tray Street with Pham Van Dong Street. Formerly situated within the territory of Rao Village, also known as An Khe Village in local dialect, the bridge earned its name from this historical association. It is characterized by a single cable-stayed column spanning the Lach Tray River.
