1. Having breakfast right after waking up (too early)
After a long night's sleep, the feeling of hunger often arises early in the morning. Therefore, many people immediately seek food to satisfy their hunger right after waking up. This is not good at all. Do you know why? Although the sleep duration can be up to 8 hours, the food from the previous night's dinner has not been fully digested and remains in the body awaiting processing. If you eat right after waking up, this adds more food, exceeding the stomach's capacity and causing a backlog of food, leading to a feeling of fullness, bloating, and indigestion.
This has a negative impact on the stomach's function, and nutrients are not fully absorbed. Therefore, you should give up this habit and, instead, have a glass of pure filtered water to help cleanse the body. A helpful tip is to have breakfast about 20-25 minutes after waking up. The most suitable time for a delicious breakfast is from 6-7 a.m.

2. Breakfast with excessive ingredients
Although breakfast is crucial for the body, it doesn't mean you should overload it with excessive nutrients. Some people have the habit of cramming as much as possible into each breakfast, causing the stomach to rebel, overloading its function, leading to abdominal pain or an uncomfortable, indescribable feeling.
Too many nutrients in breakfast, along with leftover food from the previous day, are the culprits of weight gain, obesity, and uncontrollable weight increase. A useful tip is to eat moderately, increase fiber-rich and easily digestible foods; avoid foods high in animal fats, too much fat, or protein.

3. Having breakfast too late
Indulging in a lazy morning is a favorite for many, especially office workers after a stressful week, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a late breakfast on the weekend. However, having breakfast too late will make you lose your appetite and reduce nutrient absorption, disrupting your biological clock and causing abnormal organ function.
To avoid this situation, make it a habit to get enough sleep, wake up on time, and have breakfast before 9 am to ensure good health.

4. Eating too quickly
Waking up late, fearing being late for school or work is the reason why you have to rush through your breakfast. Eating too quickly makes the food not chewed well, causing disadvantages for digestion and stomach activity. Especially in winter, eating hot breakfast in a hurry can lead to the risk of chronic throat cancer.
Eating breakfast too quickly is also one of the causes of cancer as recommended by health experts, so wake up early to have enough time to enjoy a wonderful breakfast, savor a cup of tea to welcome the new day with joy.

5. Skimpy breakfast
Those in the process of weight loss often make this mistake. They believe that eating less will result in faster weight loss. This is entirely incorrect and counterproductive. If breakfast lacks sufficient nutrients, the body becomes fatigued, creativity diminishes, and alertness is insufficient for work.
Eating too little not only does not aid weight loss but also causes the uncontrolled release of cortisol, making weight gain easier. A breakfast deficient in nutrients or too skimpy leads to severe nutrient deficiencies, resulting in many uncontrollable adverse consequences. Therefore, ensure you provide the necessary nutrients and energy in your breakfast. Losing weight does not mean only eating fruits, snacks, or skipping breakfast altogether.

6. Consuming leftover food
Food should only be prepared and consumed once. Reheating can lead to nutrient loss and provide an opportunity for harmful pathogens. Having breakfast with leftovers not only makes it less appetizing but also hinders digestion, increasing the risk of cancer due to the large production of Nitrite compounds.
Breakfast doesn't need to be overly complex; it just needs to be nutritious. Therefore, prepare fresh, delicious, easy-to-eat, and nutritious meals for your breakfast.

7. Eating while walking
This is a hard-to-break habit for many students and office workers. Did you know that the air is filled with various pollutants and harmful bacteria that can cling to your breakfast and enter your stomach, eventually residing there? Over time, the accumulation of bacteria can lead to gastric ulcers, colorectal cancer, infections, and throat inflammation.
Moreover, eating while walking also has a negative impact on the digestive system, causing stomach pain, indigestion, constipation, and more. It's essential to allocate a reasonable amount of time, at least 15-20 minutes, to enjoy your breakfast and then proceed with other activities.

8. Having a light breakfast with carbonated drinks
Many people rush to work and often opt for a quick, light breakfast such as cookies, chocolate accompanied by carbonated drinks. However, nutrition experts point out that these foods cannot be considered a proper breakfast as they only provide immediate energy in the short term.
This breakfast approach is not healthy and is unfriendly to health. Moreover, carbonated drinks cause calcium in the body to be rapidly excreted, leading to long-term dehydration.

9. Avoid consuming excessively cold food
Upon waking up, the nervous system and other organs are still in a contracted state, so consuming cold food in the morning for an extended period can impede blood circulation. Using cold food in the morning for a long time may expose you to the risk of chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, deteriorating skin, and significantly reduced immunity.
Instead of having cold dishes, you can opt for a bowl of pho, a plate of congee, a cup of hot milk, or a crispy hot baguette to replenish energy, boost spirits, and kickstart the day.

10. Opt for ready-made breakfast items sparingly
Processed foods like sausages, smoked meats, and canned goods always seem like delicious and convenient choices for busy family breakfasts. However, these foods contain nitrites, which play a role in giving meat its pink color, extending its shelf life, and making it more tender. Using these foods too frequently, especially for breakfast - the most important meal of the day - can be extremely harmful to health.
Nitrite itself is not a carcinogen, but when it enters the body, it binds with protein-digesting substances in the stomach, forming a cancer-causing compound called nitrosamine. The World Health Organization has classified processed meats into Group 1, which means they are a proven carcinogen. Therefore, the more you limit the intake of these foods, the better.

11. Avoid fried foods with soy milk
Fried products like doughnuts, wheat cakes, etc., paired with soy milk are favored by many Vietnamese people.
However, these are foods high in trans fats, posing health risks if consumed excessively. Combined with the protein content in soy milk, it can lead to rapid weight gain.

12. Embrace the Banana Boost
Bananas are a rich source of potassium, magnesium, and fiber. This fruit also contains tryptophan, vitamin B, iron, and vitamin B6. Consuming bananas helps maintain arterial pressure, reduce excess fat, control blood pressure, enhance digestion, supplement vitamins, reduce fatigue, and minimize the risk of anemia. However, like other foods, these nutritional benefits are effective when bananas are consumed at the right time.
Some studies suggest that bananas, being high in sugar, aid in generating energy in the body. However, if eaten on an empty stomach, this energy will deplete after a few hours. Hence, you might feel lethargic, tired, and moody.

13. Caution with Scalding Hot Food
Many Vietnamese have a preference for hot food. However, according to WHO, consuming overly hot food increases the risk of developing esophageal and oral cancers, as the high temperature can damage these organs. Additionally, extremely hot food can cause severe damage to the digestive system and intestinal lining.
To safeguard your health, consider the temperature of your food before consumption to avoid the risk of burns or cancer. It's best to let the food cool down a bit before enjoying it.

14. Delaying Toothbrushing After Breakfast
This habit may be familiar to many of you, but it's truly not good at all. This unintentional act can seriously damage tooth enamel, especially if you consume fruits and fizzy drinks as they contain high levels of citric and phosphoric acid, which can significantly affect your tooth enamel.
Research suggests that over-brushing is not good for your teeth, and you should only brush your teeth twice a day—once in the morning after waking up and once in the evening before bedtime. After breakfast, it's recommended not to brush immediately but to rinse your mouth with filtered water or use dental floss.

Many people have the habit of grabbing a cold drink from the fridge in the morning for a refreshing start. However, this type of drink is strongly discouraged in the morning.
As your body is not fully active right after waking up, cold water or ice water can cause constriction of the blood vessels in the stomach lining, affecting and stimulating digestion, accelerating the peristalsis of the intestines, and may even cause mild abdominal pain, or gastric pain, and diarrhea.

16. Consuming Coffee
Many gentlemen have the habit of sipping coffee in the morning to sharpen their minds, although coffee can make us more alert, drinking black coffee at this time will increase the cortisol level in the blood, making you feel jittery and dizzy. Moreover, if you have coffee on an empty stomach, it can lead to stomach issues.
Experts say that the period from 8 to 9 a.m. is when the body produces a large amount of cortisol – a hormone that strengthens and generates energy. If you drink coffee before this time, the cortisol production will plummet, making you feel lethargic.
