During one investigation, he crosses paths with San San, a disabled woman, whose help leads him to unravel several complex cases. Along the way, Thiên Quang stumbles upon an old phone that can communicate with his deceased father from 20 years ago, a time when his father was still alive. In a desperate bid to help San San overcome her self-doubt, Thiên Quang wishes for his father to change the past, hoping that San San will walk again. However, even the smallest alteration in the past has a profound impact on the present that Thiên Quang is living in.

10. Replica (2009)
TVB had dabbled in time-travel dramas in the past, but due to the long gap, younger viewers began to associate TVB solely with historical or contemporary stories. However, Replica changed this perception, adding a new dimension to the genre. The story follows Sở Từ, a man willing to sacrifice everything—including ethics and family ties—in pursuit of career success. Unexpectedly, he finds himself transported back to the 1960s, where his skills are irrelevant in a time of limited opportunities. Struggling with financial hardship, he faces the harsh realities of life while learning the true value of human connection and the sincerity of the people around him.
Unlike other time-travel series set centuries apart, Replica presents a more relatable scenario where Sở Từ merely travels back to the time when his father was young—decades ago, not centuries. With no major historical upheavals, the series delivers a more intimate and lighthearted journey that keeps audiences engaged with humor and heartfelt moments. The collaboration of talented actors such as Ngô Trác Hy, Trần Cẩm Hồng, Dương Tư Kỳ, Hồ Hạnh Nhi, Huỳnh Thục Nghi, Khương Đại Vệ, and Nguyễn Triệu Tường brought this fun-filled adventure to life and made Replica a huge success.

11. Return to the Three Kingdoms (2012)
After the time-travel drama The Time Machine in 2004, TVB returned to the past with another historical time-travel series in 2012. This time, the protagonist, Tư Mã Tín, is transported back to the Three Kingdoms period. Unlike the legendary Hạng Thiếu Long, Tư Mã Tín is an ordinary young man who, with his modern knowledge, becomes a valuable assistant to the famous strategist, Gia Cát Lượng.
This imperfect character sparked much debate among viewers, yet it contributed to a more authentic and relatable experience. Despite challenges such as limited resources and a smaller budget, the show’s production value remained modest. Nonetheless, TVB fans continued to follow Return to the Three Kingdoms for the compelling performances by Mã Quốc Minh, Dương Di, and Lâm Phong, whose dedication to the project was evident in their flawless acting.

12. The Legendary General (2015)
Huỳnh Đệ Muội, a diligent patrol officer, is unexpectedly swept back in time to the Qing Dynasty during one of her missions, where she encounters the notorious bandit, Trương Bảo Tử. Armed with her tablet, Đệ Muội uses modern resources to uncover historical information, helping her navigate numerous dangerous situations. However, she finds herself struggling with the complexities of her romantic entanglements with Trương Bảo Tử and the loyal Mân Hạo.
The series faced significant criticism from viewers due to its relatively weak cast and lackluster special effects, which were seen as inferior to earlier productions like the Journey to the West remake. Despite its modest reception, The Legendary General managed to draw a decent audience in Hong Kong thanks to heavy marketing. However, the show didn't resonate as well with Vietnamese viewers, many of whom criticized the performances of the newcomer Trần Khải Lâm. Even seasoned actor Hồng Vĩnh Thành couldn't escape criticism, as his previous roles were far superior to his portrayal in this series. Nevertheless, The Legendary General remains a memorable TVB production, being one of the first to be aired simultaneously in both Hong Kong and Vietnam.
