12. The Wind Rises
The Wind Rises (original title: Kaze Tachinu) is a fictional biographical film about Jirō Horikoshi, the designer behind the Mitsubishi A5M and its famous successor, the Mitsubishi A6M Zero. Both of these fighter planes were used by the Empire of Japan during World War II.
The film is based on the manga of the same name, which in turn was inspired by a short story written by Hori Tatsuo, a Japanese author, poet, and translator active during the Showa period. The Wind Rises tells the imagined biography of Jirō Horikoshi, detailing his life and career as an aviation engineer. Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, it marks his final feature film.
The film was a major commercial success in Japan in 2013 and received numerous accolades, including the Japan Academy Prize for Best Animated Film, as well as nominations for prestigious awards like the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.

13. Taifu no Noruda
The story follows Higashi, a high school boy living on a remote island, isolated from the mainland. He has loved playing basketball since childhood, but due to various circumstances, he decides to give up the sport. Upon hearing that Higashi has quit basketball, his best friend Saijo confronts him, leading to a physical altercation. Soon after, a mysterious girl named Noruda appears and reveals strange secrets about an impending storm set to hit the island.
This film is the latest project from director Youjiro Arai, who previously worked at Studio Ghibli on renowned films like The Wind Rises, From Up on Poppy Hill, and Arrietty. In 2012, he left Studio Ghibli to join Cororido studio, where he now serves as the director in charge.

14. Hinata no Aoshigure
