1. Love for the People of the Port
Love for the Port!
Hai Phong, the city of scorching heat
Thirst burning deep through the long nights
The lonely streets await, with silence and sorrow
Yearning for a cool breeze to soothe my weary soul.
In the afternoon, the Port's streets are filled with desolation
Trees withered under the midday sun
I wish to bring forth the rains
To carry my love, soft as the ocean breeze, with a sweet kiss.
Love for the Port, no pink clouds or purple hues
To leave my heart longing and waiting
Remembering Hai Phong, where the fire of poetry burns bright
My soul stirred by the waves, seeking my little girl.
I have vowed to give my red blood
To remain together forever, without fading away
Sharing a sweet kiss like the first love
A happiness that paints the Port's landscape in shades of green.
Poem by: Tony Bui

2. Hai Phong in May
Do you see that May has arrived?
In Hai Phong, the red phoenix flowers bloom everywhere
The ships continue to sail, cutting through the waves
Carrying dreams towards new horizons.
No matter how the waves may toss and turn
The people of Hai Phong remain steadfast and loyal
Always living up to the name of the heroic Port
Whether in battle or in times of change.
May is here... the red flags fluttering in the wind
Countless projects reaching for new heights
Bach Dang River, a place of pride
The legendary ships of the past now part of folklore.
Hon Dau Island... the lighthouse shining bright
Cat Ba Island... like a dreamy maiden
Do Son... the harbor still waiting
To welcome tourists, painting poetry alongside the sea.
The red phoenix wings stir the hearts of those who remember
My love for you, expressed in these verses!

3. The City of Red Phoenix Flowers
I've arrived in your hometown, the city of red phoenix flowers
Hai Phong Port bustling with ships sailing out to sea
The burning golden sun shines everywhere
The cicadas sing the melodies of summer's longing.
The waves greet any stranger
The streets are filled with the red hue of flowers
You look so beautiful, riding your bicycle in the afternoon
The old colonial sadness of the Port city is gone.
I sit on the stone bench, silently listening to the whistling wind
The whispers of this noble land
Not as quiet as the ancient streets
Not as solemn as the capital's style.
Today, Hai Phong is a national pride
Ships connecting with every continent
Its energy rivaling that of the city named after Uncle Ho
Lights stretch endlessly like a lantern festival
I am captivated, lost in joy with you, oh my lively city
Celebrating the rise and fall of my hometown through the years.
Hai Phong, will you remember when we part
The moment we understood each other
I will tell my hometown all about you
How beautiful you are in this place.
I will take some of the red phoenix flowers
Sit on the train, hearing the distant horn
Each phoenix petal falling gently in the afternoon
My heart aches as we part tomorrow.
Vu Hoai Phuong

4. Summer Arrives in the Port City
Summer arrives in my Port City
The river at the harbor quietly deposits silt
The docks welcoming ships in and out
In May, the phoenix flowers bloom, covering the sky.
Do Son's beach calls to you, oh come
To bathe in the sea under the vast sky
Lose yourself in the magic of Cat Ba Island
The bridge replacing the ferry, oh how things have changed.
Hai Phong spreads its wings and soars
Glorious victories echo the name from long ago
Crossing Cau Binh River, Cau Rao Bridge
The islands of Cat Dai and Cat Cut live on in poetry.
Hai Phong, the dreamy coastal city
Is rapidly transforming hour by hour
Streets shaded by rows of trees
Ships dock where the sky blushes with the pink of dawn.

5. Hai Phong, Love... and Longing
Tomorrow I will return to the Port City
On a summer's day with the wind and sun dancing
Fulfilling my longing, my desire
That I've cherished for so long, now close to my heart.
Tomorrow I will seek out memories
Let my soul soar to all corners of the earth
The red phoenix flowers covering the sky
Hai Phong, my hometown, where the people are kind!
April has passed, summer arrives
Join me in visiting Bạch Đằng Wharf
Following the glorious course of history
Our ancestors fought for the nation's eternal glory!
Tomorrow I will visit the city again
Picking red phoenix flowers just for you
Do Son's beach sings a lullaby
The waves gently bringing memories of longing.
The Port City, our beloved home
Will you come with me tomorrow?
Together we’ll fulfill our dreams
Hai Phong, my love, deep in my heart.
Tomorrow, I'll return to the Port City
Where my heart is filled with love
Together we’ll part the evening clouds
Picking the sun-kissed flowers, just for you!
Poetry by: Mạc Lợi

6. Hai Phong, Oh
I long to return to the beloved Port City
Hai Phong, with its vibrant rows of phoenix flowers
Cross Bến Cầu Đất, Bến Cầu Rào and I'm almost there
Or shall we meet tonight at Cat Ba?
I love Hai Phong, the city by the sea
Oh, this land of myths and legends
You've been asking me to return since last year
To visit Do Son, where we once caught crabs...
Those summer days when we walked together
The narrow streets, fingers intertwined
The green sea stretching far into the horizon
Our eyes met, immersed in mutual affection...
I want to return to the coastal streets at dawn
The red sky reflecting on the waves
Catching snails while listening to the sea breeze sing
My heart still burns for the summer of waiting...
I want to return, to write a poem for you
To visit Cat Hai with the wind tousling your hair
To dive into the sea, pretending to search for pearls
Hai Phong, with its divine beauty...
Night and day, I ache with longing for my homeland.
Poetry by: Đào Văn Cứu

7. Hai Phong, the City I Love
Oh, Hai Phong! Beautiful port city
Like a rising dragon, awakening to life
New constructions are rising, can you see them?
Roads filled with cars, flowing in every direction!
Hai Phong, you are so beautiful, my love
As the sun rises, painting the sky in shades of red
The seagulls glide, dancing in the wind
Alongside ships that brave the waves, sailing forth!
The streets light up like a thousand falling stars
Tam Bac Lake, a place for lovers to meet
Over there, a shy girl with a boy at her side
Her ao dai glowing under the soft, sparkling lights!
The bridges stand like graceful young maidens
Posing in the bright and colorful dawn
Hai Phong, the city of red phoenix flowers
Welcomes you with its breeze so lively and warm!
Trần Nhuận

8. The Sea of Hai Phong Awaits You
Will you come to Hai Phong with me?
The sea here is breathtaking this season
The waves are alive with people on the beach
The sea feels a sense of longing at sunset
It surges passionately, waves crashing against the shore
The sea spreads its peaceful rhythm on the sandy shore
Its melody, sweet and soothing like a song
Do Son, Cat Ba, full of love and emotion
Come, the sea misses you dearly
Especially as the evening sun sets
Come, the sea is waiting for you
To feel the embrace of waves rolling into the shore
This season, the sea holds memories, anticipation
To quench the thirst of longing, to hold the waves
The sea and you, inseparable like the shore and waves
To love like the waves crashing endlessly
Beautiful, sweet, and full of poetry
Waiting eagerly, just for you!
Trần Ngọc Hưng

9. Hai Phong, My Homeland
April has come to Hai Phong, my homeland
I adore the streets lined with red flowers
The Tam Bac River flows gently as the moonlight dances on the breeze
I hear your whispered words, soft and sweet
So familiar, the memories of serene moments
The Ben Binh pier, where my mother carried the burdens
Of a childhood filled with joy and nostalgia
Dreaming by the river, where life’s journey unfolded
The Lấp River, cradling all the stories untold
Oh, Do Son, the sea beckons with every step
How could I ever forget Hai Phong?
The Quay Bridge, the Rào Bridge, as people come and go
The sunrise glows brightly, ushering in the spring
The salty sea breeze whispers, so full of warmth
Familiar streets, where every corner holds a story
Red flowers bloom, waiting for the summer heat…

10. Hai Phong and the Season of Red Flowers
I'm coming back to the city of red flowers.
The sky is filled with flags and flowers, dancing in the May breeze.
During the festival season, will you come visit?
Hai Phong stands proud, a gem of our nation.
We still cherish the victories of the past.
Hai Phong marches forward with unwavering strength.
The Do Son beach, a paradise for relaxation.
Cat Ba Island, just the name makes me long to visit.
Famous for its beauty, this green island calls for tourists.
A brilliant gem, a turquoise emerald shining brightly.
Let us join hands to protect the deep seas.
Hai Phong stands tall, atop the waves.
The sound of the Bach Dang River echoes in the mountains and rivers.
The people of Hai Phong live with pride and strength.
Ngô Quyền and Lê Chân, side by side with Hồng Bàng.
History records the golden pages of our homeland.
Hai Phong, hold your head high as we walk forward.
Protecting our land and sea, keeping our nation at peace.
Let us work together to build a flourishing city.
For Hai Phong, shining brightly in the new dawn.

11. Hai Phong, My Love
Hai Phong, it's been just a few days away.
Yet, I feel this overwhelming sense of longing.
Could it be the unfinished waves of Do Son?
Or perhaps the sorrow of a flower unable to bloom fully?
There’s something left behind, something I can't forget.
And leaving feels harder than I expected.
The summer sun feels almost too hot to bear.
The breeze whispers, and the phoenix flowers fall gently.
In the evening, Hải Cảng fills my heart with bittersweet memories.
The sight of a young girl with sparkling eyes stirs my soul.
Her ao dai flowing, enchanting me with its grace.
Even though I leave, I will always remember.
At night, Hải Phòng’s Tam Bac Lake is calm and serene.
I hold your hand, as we enjoy the music and water show.
Admiring the statue of the goddess standing tall, looking forward.
My homeland changes with every passing moment.
Goodbye, my harbor city, for now.
My heart stays behind...
We will meet again someday!

12. Missing Hai Phong
May comes, and Hai Phong lights up with lanterns,
Flames burning bright in every beloved street.
Hai Phong, oh, how deeply I cherish you,
The Lạch Tray river connecting shores of longing.
........
The Tan Vu bridge, with eager steps,
Brings joy to the faraway Cát Hải,
The Lan Hạ Bay, my homeland’s heart,
Crystal waters, Cát Bà reflected in blue.
........
If you haven’t been to Đồ Sơn, you don’t know Hai Phong yet,
Ben Bính, quiet by the rushing Cấm river,
Before Tam Bạc, a sense of nostalgia stirs,
Memories return along the Lấp river’s banks.
........
Wandering along Tràng Kênh, Cầu Đất,
Delicious bánh bèo that I miss so much,
And the bánh đa cua, flavors soaking my lips,
Sipping, the hot broth warms my tongue.
........
Strolling through Cát Dài, my steps never tired,
The taste of spicy bánh mì overwhelms my senses.
At Lương Văn Can, I savor the fried crab with a twist,
Tasting the essence of my homeland’s delights.
.......
Bánh đúc tàu, so gentle in the morning,
A gift from the village, full of affection.
Bạch Long Vĩ, awakening with the dawn,
Chest puffed like a strong, valiant youth.
.........
The rivers still echo with battles fought,
The courage of our ancestors at Bạch Đằng river’s stakes.
The mountains of Voi, Dấu, and the Hải Đăng,
Hold me, drawing me back to the land of my roots.
........
Hai Phong, my homeland, you are so beautiful,
The hair flowing in the clear, laughter ringing.
The warm green tea cup, the kindness of the people,
My feet move, yet my heart lingers.
........
The soul drifts in the dimming twilight,
Feeling a deep emptiness of a homeland afar.
The waves crash against the shore,
The spirit of the motherland calls to my heart.

13. Hai Phong in My Heart
Is anyone coming to Hai Phong with me?
To enjoy the chilly winter breeze,
Watch the leaves fall outside the front yard,
And taste the delicious local delicacies!
My Hai Phong, each day it grows more beautiful,
The Port City dons a fresh new look,
Bridges long and wide marking its name,
Connecting provinces and districts far and near!
The people of Hai Phong forever sing their love song,
In the months of May, with the sky full of red Phoenix flowers,
There are streets lined with workers' attire,
And rivers remembering golden victories!
Summer in Hai Phong, the sun blazes bright,
We bask in the golden sand as waves crash,
The sea of Đồ Sơn, the image of my homeland,
The buffalo fighting festival, everyone wants to visit!
Bánh đa cua, a famous dish from the region,
Street-side snail stalls, tamarind plums, sticky rice dumplings,
Steaming bánh cuốn and savory bones in broth,
Passing by, everyone wants to stop and try!
Hai Phong opens its arms to welcome you,
Hoping to greet friends from near and far,
Sharing friendly smiles, full of warmth,
From the resilient people of the Port City!
Come back to Hai Phong with me, my love,
Is it any wonder that I long for it so?
Though I've been away from my homeland for many years,
In my heart, Hai Phong will always be amazing!
From Saigon,
Nguyễn Thuỳ

14. Come Visit My Hometown
I invite you to visit my homeland,
The place where I was born and grew up,
The people here, though poor, face many hardships,
Yet they are kind-hearted, loyal, and true.
Hai Phong, my homeland, has seen many years pass,
The brave souls sacrificed, leaving a legacy of red,
The unnumbered trains left, bringing peace to the beautiful city,
And the city itself, standing proud and bright.
Do you see the crimson Phoenix flowers, so vivid,
Always blazing, just like our love for each other?
Do you see the dawn breaking, so red,
Just like the rosy cheeks of the girl you love?
Come to my hometown one evening,
As the kites soar to greet you,
The birds sing to bless our love,
Our love will last for a lifetime.
Quyên

15. Returning to Hai Phong
Come back to Hai Phong,
Where the sea of Do Son sings with a hundred folk songs,
And the heart stirs with waves of emotion,
The pine-covered hills embrace the silent, whispering breeze.
Cát Bà, a place full of memories,
Where the mountains and waters reflect the emerald islands,
The picturesque Nghiêng wharf,
A place where warships once sailed,
Lan Hạ Bay, oh, a paradise!
Pearls, fish farms... life in its youthful glow.
Elephant Mountain, the birthplace of mankind,
With strange shapes that beckon from afar.
In the season of the Phoenix flowers in May,
You can hear the city sighing under the full moon's gaze.
Hai Phong, rich with delicacies,
From cha chia to crab, tempting you for days,
With sweet tea, rice rolls, and spicy porridge...
Sui dinh, bánh đúc, a warm heart in every bite,
And bánh đa cua... do you remember it?
Longing for you, the flavors of Hai Phong stay forever,
As the evening breeze blows over the bridge,
I’m still enchanted, and my heart will forever remain here.
Poetry by: Ân Thiên

16. The Fragrant Milk Flowers of Hai Phong
Hai Phong, my motherland,
In autumn, the milk flowers bloom with their sweet fragrance,
On the National Day, the city is alive with excitement,
Banners fly and the sounds of celebration echo everywhere.
The sun sets over the plowed fields,
Seagulls soar above the harbor,
And when the time comes, the milk flowers bloom with love,
Pure white petals fall gracefully, untouched by the world.
The wind stirs emotions, calling for a reunion,
Bringing thoughts of dear friends from afar.
At night, the soft sound of crickets fills the air,
And in the quiet, there’s a hint of dreams and mystery,
The air is rich with the scent of the flowers, a reminder of the earthly world.
On the banks of the Cấm River, lovers exchange vows,
In the embrace of nature, the water whispers its secrets,
The world feels alive with passion,
As birds sing softly in the wilderness.
The bamboo forests await the blooming of the milk flowers,
And the promises of love and devotion fill the air.
The golden rocks bear the weight of time,
With a vow to stay together forever, never to part.
Through the milk flowers, my message is carried,
With the wings of the swan, flying far away,
The love for Hai Phong, a deep and unending affection,
How I long for the beauty of my hometown, Hai Phong.
Poetry by: Phạm Huy Hùng

17. Hai Phong Always Holds Its Head High
Hai Phong seems to lack winter.
Only the summer brings the fiery red of phoenix flowers.
Hai Phong has the Rào Bridge, marking the gateway,
And Đồ Sơn with its warm, playful winds.
In Hai Phong, you see only rows of trees,
The red phoenix flowers forever stretch their arms to connect.
The people of Hai Phong are always in a rush,
Unlike the peaceful grace of Hanoi.
The people of Hai Phong are used to a noisy life,
The port city always seems this way.
People here never worry about appearances,
They hold their heads high, indifferent to the world around them.
Hai Phong has always had the Hàng market,
And Hàng Kênh, Hồng Bàng, and Sắt markets too.
There’s Bà Lê Chân, Hồ Sen, and Đất bridges,
And people who are honest and bold.
Even after many years away, I miss Hai Phong so much.
I miss Đồ Sơn, a place beyond words.
Coming back to Hai Phong feels both familiar and strange.
Hai Phong is proud, with a clear line between truth and fiction.
Poetry by: Nguyễn Đình Huân

18. Summer Comes to the Port City
Summer has just arrived, yet the sun is scorching bright.
The purple flowers of the Lagerstroemia bloom gently in the breeze,
As the city, named after the Red Phoenix flower, stirs with life.
The streets buzz with excitement as summer settles in.
Hai Phong spreads its wings and soars higher.
New changes have entered the city’s life.
The sea bridge extends across, broad and vast,
As the ship sails off with dreams to faraway lands.
In May, the city is covered in flags of victory.
The Grand Theatre echoes with songs of triumph.
The Tam Bac Lake reflects the fluttering white áo dài.
At the church, the bell tolls in the distance.
We proudly remember the heroic General Lê Chân.
She led the troops in battle to defend the land.
Her name, forever shining like the moonlight,
Will always be remembered by the people of Hai Phong.
Through rain or shine, the people of Hai Phong live with the sea,
They embrace the waves and speak the language of the wind.
In May, the sky is filled with the red phoenix flowers,
And Hai Phong continues to rise, overcoming challenges!
Poetry by: Trần Nhuận

19. Come Back, My Dear, To My Hai Phong
Hai Phong is now in the peak of the flower season,
The red phoenix flowers bloom brightly in the sun.
The people of my hometown are warm-hearted and deep in their emotions,
Always calm and serene, like the quiet evening sea.
Come back with me to Hai Phong, the city of love,
The streets have transformed with so many new changes,
New bridges, towering buildings rise high,
The world is reaching for new heights.
Let’s visit Do Son and watch the waves rise,
Embrace the dawn with the wind singing its song,
You’ll understand the passion in my heart,
Much like Hai Phong, vast and boundless.
Let’s hold hands and walk up Dragon Hill,
Be amazed, it feels like a fairyland,
The night lights sparkle so beautifully,
As we rest our heads, wishing to be side by side.
Hai Phong, my beautiful and prosperous hometown,
The streets are busy, the port and train stations are lively.
Come back, my dear, let’s continue to build together,
Let’s unite and write our own history!
By: Vũ Thắm

20. Will You Come Back to Hai Phong?
Will you return to Hai Phong with me?
The harbor city where the red phoenix flowers bloom at every turn,
Boats sail out, their sails catching the breeze,
As someone’s return brings life to the little village streets.
Hai Phong, with wings spread wide, is soaring high,
Change is shaping the city’s future,
Long bridges spanning the sea, wide and free,
Endless projects stretching beyond the skyline.
Come back, and see the blooming phoenix flowers,
The streets shine with golden sunlight, bathing each home,
After school, young hearts and white uniforms flutter,
The soft chimes of the church bells fill the air.
As the seasons change, we say goodbye to spring,
And welcome the first steps of summer,
The river flows endlessly, its waters deep,
Come back, and together we’ll dream of a future!
