He currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Talent Development Support Center under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. Known as one of Vietnam’s leading experts in the innovative methods and techniques for proving inequalities, he is deeply passionate about education and the development of mathematics in Vietnam. He once shared his dream of creating a generation of young PhDs, aged 19 or 20, brimming with intellect, talent, and enthusiasm to contribute to the country’s modernization and industrialization.
He has authored 22 books designed for high school students and competitors in national and international math contests. Notably, his book “Diamonds in Mathematical Inequalities” has earned him recognition as a top expert in the field. A summary of the book was distributed to 95 teams at the 48th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Vietnam in 2007. Under his guidance, his students have won numerous awards, including 9 gold medals at the Asia Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMOPS) in Singapore, 8 gold, 10 silver, and 20 bronze medals at the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) from 2011 to 2014, and 3 silver and 3 bronze medals at the International Science Olympiad (IMSO) in 2014. In 2007, Mr. Phuong mentored five sixth-grade students for 150 hours, all of whom successfully passed the university entrance exam with an average score of 8/10.
