1. Kindred Spirits
In every person's life, we undoubtedly have friends who help us overcome difficulties and stand by us in both joy and sorrow. I am no exception; I have a dear friend who always shares and supports me in times of trouble. Khanh is, without a doubt, my closest companion.
Khanh is the same age as me, ten years old this year. With skin as fair as peeled boiled eggs and a slender figure, she always appears neat in our school uniform of white shirts and black pants. Her long hair is neatly tied behind her neck. A round face and expressive eyes are Khanh's distinctive features. Her large, round eyes glisten with laughter, always twinkling like the crescent moon, conveying both empathy during sad times and encouragement during happy moments.
Her voice is as crisp as a morning songbird. Don't be misled; her voice is not as sharp as lemons. It is very expressive and extremely appealing. Khanh often narrates ghost stories to us with a captivating and melodious voice, making us scream in excitement during the climax. The price for her laughter is the terrified faces we make in return.
To be honest, I didn't like Khanh at first because who wouldn't? She excels in both academics and looks, and she sings well. On top of that, my parents often compare her with me, making me feel annoyed and pitiful. Perhaps, I would still dislike Khanh if it weren't for that incident.
One cold winter morning, with the chilling wind outside making me shiver, I, who had been healthy the previous evening, running around the playground playing tag with my younger brother, fell ill and couldn't get out of bed. Feeling exhausted, I opened my eyes and stared at the dark gray sky outside the window, contemplating how to go to school without bothering anyone.
Winter turned me into a lazy caterpillar, always the last to wake up in the house. My parents and younger brother usually had breakfast before going to school and work, leaving me to wake up later and have breakfast alone before heading to school. If not for today's voluntary work organized by the school, I wouldn't have to go early, and I wouldn't be in this situation. I was about to get out of bed with a headache when I heard Khanh's voice from outside:
'Lan, if you don't leave now, you'll be late for school!'
I wanted to shout loudly that I was sick, but the words couldn't escape my throat. Waiting for a response and seeing the lights on in my house, Khanh, curious, stepped inside, saying, 'Excuse me.' Entering my room, she rushed to feel my forehead:
'You have a fever. Why didn't you call me? Where are your parents, and where's your brother? Why are you home alone?'
Looking at her concerned expression, I was surprised. For so long, I thought Khanh disliked me, but when I was sick, she showed concern like this. I felt ashamed for being a bad friend, not recognizing a good friend like Khanh. Timidly accepting her help, she cooked porridge for me, helped me take medicine, and called to ask for both of us to have a day off since she was late taking care of me.
From that day on, Khanh often came to my house to teach me, and thanks to her, I caught up with my friends when returning to school without the need for a tutor or teacher. Although I used to neglect my homework for play, after that memorable incident, I paid more attention and improved my grades, making both my teachers and parents pleased. All thanks to Khanh's dedicated support, we stood in the top 10 of the class at the end of the semester and were commended by the teachers as the dynamic duo!
I cherish my close friend, and I hope our friendship will endure over time, allowing me to preserve the memories of our school days with friends and family.

2. A Close Cross-Gender Friend
People often say that best friends are the ones who share common interests. It's common to see girls being close with girls and boys with boys in class. However, my best friend is a boy, and I'm a girl. Despite that, we have a great time together. He's a good friend to me.
My best friend's name is Thien. My mom says his name means the vast sky. Indeed, his name matches his personality. Thien always protects and cares for me, just like my own personal 'sky.' He never lets the boys in our class or the kids in the neighborhood bully me.
Thien has a tall and robust figure, with slightly tanned skin from our days of kite-flying in the fields and playing under the intense summer sun. His high, firm nose and bright eyes always exude happiness. Thien has a fantastic voice, especially when singing. That's why he's nicknamed the 'artistic talent' of our class.
I still remember the first days of school when everyone asked him, 'How are you so close with Nguyet? It's weird for a guy and a girl to be so close.' During those times, Thien just laughed it off, and gradually, as people in our class got used to it, they stopped asking. We're close friends because we share the same interests, and besides, we're neighbors. Our parents are friends, so we've known each other since we were little.
Thien is very thoughtful and caring. Every time I have to stay on duty late, he stays back to help me. And when he stays back, he insists I go home first. But I never leave; I always run over to help him. We look at each other, laugh, and continue our duty happily. Whenever something good happens, Thien always brings it to my house to share.
We're as close as peas in a pod. I remember one time when Thien went out with his family for a long day, and I cried, wanting to go with them. No matter how my parents comforted me, I didn't listen. Only when Thien promised to come back early and buy me a gift did I stop crying. Looking back, I feel like I was such a childish girl.
Now that we're both grown up, we still cherish our friendship. I hope this bond will last forever. I really treasure Thien – my best friend.

3. The Joy-Bringing Companion
Throughout the years in elementary school, I've had many good friends. But for the past 5 years at school, among those friends, I have one best friend since the first grade until now. His name is Nam.
Nam isn't just a close friend at school; he's also a childhood friend and a neighbor next to my house. Being boys, our hobbies are quite similar. In contrast to girls who like to keep their hair long and stylish, Nam and I have short hair. Because we enjoy many active games together, sweating doesn't bother us.
Nam has slightly darkened skin from our childhood days of flying kites and playing tag with the neighborhood kids. He has a tall figure, especially long legs, making Nam the fastest runner in our class. Nam possesses bright, intelligent-looking eyes, quick and nimble.
In class, he's always the most eager to participate, raising his hand enthusiastically. Despite being just a fifth-grade student, Nam sometimes asks questions that surprise the teachers. Nam consistently scores high on tests and ranks first in the class. Not only in class activities, but Nam is also actively involved in all class events.
Nam is energetic, lively, and very likable. Everyone in our class admires him. Nam and I have been best friends since childhood, so every morning, he comes over to pick me up for school, and in the afternoon, we go home together. We are so close that many classmates wonder and ask, 'Can't you two separate?' During those times, Nam just laughs and replies, 'It's impossible; we've been close since we were little.'
When I was little, I often got sick, so my mom never allowed me to play outside with the neighborhood kids. Every day, I watched them play, laughing and having fun, feeling very eager. I thought I would never get to play with them until one autumn day, with the gentle golden sun stretching across, Nam ran up to me and invited me to fly kites.
Initially hesitant due to my mother's restriction, Nam went to ask my mom for permission. Somehow, with just a few words, my mom agreed. Unable to wait any longer, Nam and I quickly ran to the levee, spending the whole day playing kite together. From that day on, Nam came over every day to invite me to play, and that's how we became close friends.
I truly cherish Nam. He's the one who brought me so much joy and memories. I hope our friendship will last long and remain strong in the future.

4. Childhood Companion Since Grade 1
At home, we have siblings to share and play with, but at school, our companions are friends. I have many friends since kindergarten, and among them, the one I am closest to is Hung, a classmate since the first grade.
I got to know Hung when we were in kindergarten because his house is near mine. However, we started studying together in the first grade. My initial impression of Hung was that he was very gentle, the quietest in class but the tallest. Hung has naturally curly hair, never dyed but has a brownish tint. His face is square due to a wide forehead and a large chin.
People in our class often tease Hung, calling him 'Mun' because he has quite dark skin. However, Hung has beautiful eyes. His eyes are large and round, coupled with thick eyebrows, making his face adorable. Hung rarely speaks; in class, he stays silent, listening to the teacher or doing exercises.
Before, I was puzzled about why Hung didn't like to play with everyone. Later, I understood that it wasn't because he didn't want to play but because he had homework to do and lessons to learn in class. At home, he is very busy. Hung helps his mom with the grocery store and takes care of his younger siblings. Yet, he is the top student in our class, excelling in English. Last year, he was selected to participate in the city-level academic competition, but unfortunately, he fell ill and couldn't attend.
Hung doesn't participate in the artistic activities of the class; instead, he excels in sports. He is selected for the school's youth football team. What I like most about Hung is that he is very kind. He often helps weaker students without expecting anything in return. Every day, he arrives early to take charge of morning duties for our class. Watering plants or weeding the flower garden, Hung does it quietly.
Hung has helped me a lot in my studies. On sick days when I had to miss school, he would copy the lessons for me. He always carries my bag because he says I'm small and weak. Any of my broken toys, Hung fixes them. I appreciate my friend so much that I bring him treats whenever I can. Thanks to Hung, I have never been bullied by older students.
I value this friend of mine a lot. I'm afraid that when we grow up, I won't be able to study with him anymore. I just wish to go to school with him every day. I silently thank Hung for giving me many beautiful childhood memories.

5. Trusted School Pal
First day at school, everyone feels a bit anxious, hesitant to talk to teachers and classmates, right? I was the same. I was shy and afraid of the new environment, including new teachers and classmates. However, a friend helped me become more sociable and confident—Phuong Truc, my dearest friend.
Truc and I have been close friends since Grade One. Although we are the same age, Truc is a head taller than me and has a mature and calm personality like an adult. She may not be conventionally beautiful, but her gentle and adorable face earns her a lot of admiration. Her sun-kissed skin, resembling her father's, is healthy and smooth, a source of pride for her.
Complementing her face is her luscious black hair, always neatly tied. Occasionally, Truc even styles it into cute twin braids, looking incredibly charming. With a high and broad forehead, she appears intelligent and quick-witted. But, I believe her academic excellence comes from her eagerness to learn, not just the high forehead.
Truc captivates everyone with her eyes, expressive and lively. Every conversation reveals the true beauty of her eyes. When looking at someone, Truc gazes directly, showing that she is honest, courageous, and unafraid. Despite not having a perfectly shaped nose, I find it suits her round face well. Possessing evenly white teeth, she looks photogenic in our pictures together.
You are a role model for me to follow. At school, Truc is the class monitor, excelling academically and actively participating in various school activities. Every day, she wears tidy and neat clothes. Her conduct is always praised by the teacher during weekend activities.
She is diligent in her studies, and her handwriting is beautiful. When the class is given advanced math exercises, she perseveres to find solutions rather than giving up like the rest of us. When she doesn't understand a lesson, she confidently asks the teacher for guidance to learn from it. She is also nicknamed 'literary tree' by friends because of her excellent writing skills.
At school, she is not only diligent but also polite to teachers and classmates. At home, she is obedient and hardworking. Visiting her house, I was surprised to see her diligently cooking, watering plants, and helping her parents. She manages her time wisely, balancing homework, chores, and leisure.
Truc is my closest friend throughout elementary school. We share our joys and sorrows, and every conversation with her is delightful. For me, she is always a shining example to learn from. In a few months, we will part ways after leaving school. We may not meet again, but the memories of our friendship will stay with me forever.

6. Diệu Hà - A Role Model
My class 5C has thirty-two lovely and adorable friends, but my favorite is Diệu Hà.
Turning ten this year, Diệu Hà is the same age as me. She has a well-proportioned, healthy figure. With a brisk walk, she effortlessly completes any necessary tasks. Her round face and not-so-high nose perfectly match, and her fair complexion adds radiance to her face. A high forehead expresses her intelligence.
Her single-lidded, bright and black eyes reveal authenticity and straightforwardness. Diệu Hà often wears a white shirt and blue trousers to school, always looking neat. The red scarf around her neck stands out, resembling a cute butterfly. Cheerful and friendly, Diệu Hà helps classmates who struggle in class.
Diệu Hà is diligent both at school and at home. She excels in all subjects, particularly in Mathematics. In class, she diligently listens to the teacher, asking for clarification whenever needed. She completes today's exercises and prepares for the next day's lesson. As a result, she actively participates in class discussions and was appointed class monitor.
She sets an example, leading in all aspects, encouraging others in the class to follow. During the 15-minute study session at the beginning of each class, Hà reminds and encourages her classmates. She wants everyone in the class to excel. Not only academically excellent, but Hà is also a good daughter who helps her mother with household chores.
The image of Hà has left a lasting impression on me. Diệu Hà is an excellent role model for me and my classmates to emulate. I will strive to study well and be worthy of being friends with Diệu Hà.

7. The Most Humorous Companion
As time goes by, friendship is best measured. Throughout that time, perhaps Diệp Anh is the friend I admire the most, the friend I've studied with since third grade.
Diệp Anh has a tall, robust figure, a round and full face that everyone finds adorable. Her dark complexion, long glossy hair, and big, round eyes always look cute. A slightly turned-up nose and a wide mouth reveal bright, white teeth. Diệp Anh always exudes a lively, confident, cheerful, and humorous vibe, making her very likable.
Diệp Anh is very dynamic, never resting. During playtime, wherever Diệp Anh is, it's the most lively. We often gather in groups of three or seven around Diệp Anh to listen to her stories. Starting with phrases like, 'Back in the old days, the time when my grandmother wasn't born yet...', just hearing that is enough to make us burst into laughter, while Diệp Anh's expression remains as calm as ever.
Especially, Diệp Anh has an excellent memory. She remembers stories she has read or heard and recounts them in the exact voices of the characters, making them captivating and vivid. Diệp Anh plays all the roles, combined with humorous gestures that make us roll on the floor laughing.
Diệp Anh always comes up with interesting games. She often plays games like blindfolded tag or tying a cloth, running and making goat sounds, which is hilarious. Diệp Anh often performs singing, neighing like a horse, and imitating a brown squirrel climbing. Each performance by Diệp Anh receives enthusiastic applause and causes uproarious laughter.
Not only girls but also boys outside and inside the class admire Diệp Anh. When we have to leave our beloved school someday, I will still keep in touch with her to ensure that our friendship remains beautiful and continues to thrive.

8. The Impressive and Cherished Friend
In my class, there are a total of thirty students, eighteen girls and twelve boys, each with a unique personality. Among them, I am particularly impressed and highly value Thanh, who sits at the same desk as me.
You have a tall stature, a bit plump, especially with fair and lovely skin. Thanh has a round face, a high nose, eyes that curve gracefully like willow leaves, and eyebrows that sometimes knit when feeling dissatisfied, looking very cute. The small and lovely mouth, with shiny white and even teeth like corn kernels, and pink lips that always bloom with a radiant smile when happy.
The most outstanding feature on the face is the dimples on the cheeks. Every time you smile, the dimples appear charmingly. Thanh has long, glossy, slightly curly hair, always neatly tied up, looking very tidy. You are simple and sociable, so many friends admire you. In class, Thanh is affectionately called 'Chubby Thanh,' a name that appeared simply because you are the chubbiest girl in our class.
Sitting near you, I know that you are very diligent in your studies. You complete all the homework assigned by teachers thoroughly. In class, you actively contribute to building lessons. Not only are you admired by classmates, but you are also trusted by our homeroom teacher, who appointed you as the class monitor to help manage the class. Despite being the class monitor and trusted by the teacher, you are not arrogant but always friendly to classmates and help those with weaker academic performance.
When someone in our class is sick and unable to attend school, Thanh and other classmates visit, review the lessons taught by the teacher to the absent student. Thanh always performs the role of a class monitor very well. Moreover, you actively participate in the school's cultural activities, sing very well, and have won the school-level singing competition.
Since my house is near yours, I know that besides studying at school, you also spend time helping your parents with household chores. At the end of the school year, you always receive certificates of merit and the title of Uncle Ho's good child for your outstanding academic achievements. It's not just me; other classmates also love and admire Thanh not only for your simple and hardworking nature but also for the truly admirable academic achievements. You are truly a shining example for other students to study and follow.

9. Embracing the Admirable Qualities of Hân Hân
As time swiftly passes, no one can grasp time, and time itself is the best measure of friendships. Throughout my academic journey, Hân Hân has been my closest friend, accompanying me since elementary school until now.
Hân Hân possesses a charming and well-rounded figure. She dresses neatly and elegantly but always has a cute and lovable touch to her appearance. Her skin is smooth and rosy. Hân Hân's long, glossy, and straight black hair is always neatly tied by her mother before going to school, looking beautiful and adorable. With a round and full face, anyone who looks at her feels a fond and friendly affection.
Her bright, round, and black eyes reflect intelligence, quick-wittedness, and brightness. The small, heart-shaped lips look adorable, especially when she smiles, exuding a charming and graceful demeanor. Hân Hân always radiates a gentle, quick-witted, adorable, and amiable aura. She is very diligent in her studies and serves as an exemplary academic leader in our class.
She is very sociable, always playing with classmates, and consistently helping those who are struggling or progressing slowly. Gentleness, obedience, and academic excellence are the virtues I value most in Hân Hân. She is open when talking to friends but serious and straightforward in academic matters, avoiding any jokes related to studies.
She is quick-witted and consistently excels in all tasks assigned by teachers. Often, the stories Hân Hân shares make me and my classmates laugh heartily. The entire class admires and respects this companion. Both the teachers at school and the older people outside appreciate Hân Hân because of her polite greetings and respectful behavior.
After many years of studying together, I have learned many good qualities and characteristics from Hân Hân. I highly value her, and I will always strive to preserve this beautiful friendship. Oh, how precious this friendship is!

10. The Neighbor Friend
'Trang, hurry up, we're going to be late for school!' Ut Hoa calls me every morning. Our houses are next to each other, so we've been playing together since we were toddlers, or so I hear from my mom.
We're in the same 5th-grade class, always inseparable. Ut Hoa, a peculiar name; she's the youngest, so her parents named her that way. After hearing it, we both burst into laughter. Hoa has a tall, slim figure, an oval face, and a high, beautiful nose. We often joke that Hoa meets all the standards to be a fashion model. Her big, round, black eyes are adorable, hiding under long, curved eyelashes. Inheriting fair skin from her mother, Hoa's long black hair falls gracefully to her shoulders. She radiates femininity yet remains equally dynamic.
Every day, we ride our bikes to school on the familiar village road, our voices echoing along the way. Hoa lives with discipline, probably instilled by her father, who is a military man.
In class, Hoa is an exemplary monitor and excels in her studies. She doesn't scold anyone harshly. During homework check, she gently reminds those who haven't done it. She's good at all subjects, but her favorite is English. Hoa dreams of becoming a tour guide to travel far and wide. Always willing to help others, she readily explains math problems to one friend and assists another with English exercises. Hoa is friendly and enthusiastic with everyone. Both teachers and classmates love and trust her.
Outside of class, Hoa is a dutiful daughter and granddaughter. She frequently helps her mom with tasks like cooking and washing dishes, as well as assisting her grandfather in tending to the flowers and plants in the garden. Hoa is a pride of her family.
For me, Hoa is not just a friend but also a sister. Despite being in 5th grade, Hoa thinks very thoughtfully. Whenever I get average grades, Hoa is there to comfort me, encourage me, and show me ways to solve problems. Every Sunday afternoon, we often go to the nearby field to fly kites, play hide and seek, and scream with joy. When we return, both of us are sweaty, covered in mud, and equally afraid of getting scolded by our moms.
My childhood has many memorable moments, and Hoa is a close friend I will never forget. Now, we're in the final year of primary school. Perhaps next year, we'll continue our journey together to a secondary school, or each of us will take a different path. But Hoa and I will try to preserve this friendship forever. I hope she fulfills her dream of becoming a tour guide in the future.

11. My Outstanding Scholar Friend
I have many close friends, but the one I cherish the most is my friend Hương. We've been friends for a long time, since we were placed in the same class in second grade. It's been several years now, hasn't it? Despite the time, our friendship remains as strong as ever.
Hương and I are the same age, meaning we're both eleven this year. However, when I'm with Hương, she seems more mature and much older than me. Hương comes to school in the uniform with a white shirt and a checkered skirt, along with a red scarf neatly tied in front.
At home, she usually wears cool outfits, but when going out, she often chooses sporty clothes with a T-shirt and jeans. Hương has a graceful and light walk. Her fair and smooth skin enhances the cute and lovely face of hers.
Oh! Your eyes are beautiful. Big, black, deep, and in those eyes always shines the mischievous look of a student but also a gentle and kind one. Shiny black hair, smooth and silky, always neatly tied behind with a small, cute bow. What I love the most is her face when she's happy or when she gets good grades. At that moment, her face suddenly becomes bright, radiant, and her lips blossom into a red, even smile, revealing white, even teeth.
I value Hương not only for her adorable beauty but also for her good qualities that I and other friends admire. In class, Hương always appears as an excellent student, excelling in all subjects. In class, she is always eager to raise her hand to speak, and when there are difficult math problems, Hương's hand is already up.
Despite being good at studies, Hương is not arrogant but very modest. On days with difficult assignments, friends who are not good at it often ask her for help, and Hương happily accepts. Today Hương explains for friends who don't understand, tomorrow she continues until everyone understands.
Not only that, Hương is also an artistry in the class, her singing voice is heavenly: warm, passionate when singing about the teacher-student relationship, but also very cheerful and happy when singing about the pure friendship of school age. She is also very polite with others. When meeting teachers in the school, she stands up and greets respectfully.
After a period of studying and playing together, I have learned many good qualities from you. And I will try to follow your study habits to become an excellent student.
