1. Celebrating November 20th
Celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day
Jubilant festival across our nation
Moments of love and camaraderie
With joy, presenting flowers to our dear teachers.
Remembering their enduring dedication
For many years, tirelessly devoted to their profession
Nights spent awake by the light
Reflecting on each lesson plan for clarity.
With a wealth of knowledge in their hearts
Persistently teaching without seeking recompense
In class, always advising
Students to nurture and cultivate their characters.
Silently striving year after year
Nurturing the seeds of the future
Sincerely wishing our dear teachers
Peace, happiness, and overflowing joy.

2. When the Teacher Retires
An aged phoenix tree hangs high in summer
Where the teacher's voice on the lectern suddenly softens:
'My dear students... this summer, our final year...'
A moment of choked emotion... chalk dust falls silently.
Wasn't it just yesterday or some past year?
We eagerly stepped into high school
Transforming like grains of rice into fields of wheat
The teacher nurtured the golden season, the land echoed with songs.
Tomorrow when the teacher leaves, will the old schoolyard ache?
Or will the longing be buried beneath dust and sand?
Despite bitterness, despite countless sorrows
What hardships will the teacher leave for the future?
Tomorrow when the teacher returns, the season calls the sun high
Shoulder silvered like the hues of old textbooks
How can I express this choked, aching heart?
How many times have I defied you, dear teacher!

4. Remembering the Teacher from the Old Village School
Years pass, far from the village
Remembering the white butterflies and yellow flowers of the countryside
Recalling reading exercises with longing
Missing the old teacher, dreaming of childhood
The innocent handwriting, guided by her warm hand until now.
Looking at childhood notebooks again
The teacher's love, like that of a mother, knows no bounds.
Crooked lines with pencil marks
Absorbing red ink stains marking the margins
Missing the old school, longing for the village
Dreaming of one day returning to visit the Teacher!

6. The Teacher and the Old Ferry
Silently flowing through the years
The ferry tells stories of a bygone era
The boatman tirelessly ferries passengers
Despite the dust and noon sun
Soaring like kites
Those guests from the past are somewhat forgotten
Leaving the riverside, forgetting names
Now the river is quiet, lonely, devoid of laughter
Salty dewdrops fall in life's embrace
The teacher's hair turns white in the winter afternoon
The teacher's eyes grow weary from afar
An avocado tree stands in the flow of time.
- Nguyen Quoc Dat -
7. Listening to the Teacher Recite Poetry
I listen to the teacher recite day after day
Red poetry amidst the green sun of the countryside
The oar strokes echo from afar
As gentle as the voice of grandma in the past
I hear the moon in the coconut grove
The rain whispers amidst the sky
I love the melody of mother's laughter
In poetry, I see the beauty of land and sky…
- Tran Dang Khoa -
8. The Mentor
The wind unwittingly blew strong this morning
I suddenly noticed the teacher's hair turned white
I kept telling myself it was chalk dust
But why does my heart keep fluttering incessantly
How many years has it been? How many years, huh? Oh teacher...
The students have left, but you remain
That oar is like white chalk
And you are the one carefully guiding the boat
For us to navigate towards the future
Time, please stop and do not flow
So we can fold our hands and bow once again
Calling out to you with all our love...
- Ngan Hoang -
9. The Boatman
A lifetime - a river's course...
How many stand to watch the shore,
To cross the river, we rely on boats
In life's journey, we trust those who ferry...
Through years of harsh sun and rain,
The boat of knowledge the mentor guides many.
Across the river, leaving behind smiles,
This love, we dedicate to the revered teacher.
The wooden boat - its head in the mist,
Forever accompanying us throughout endless days,
That stretch of river still remains,
The mentor continues ferrying boats full across the river...

10. Warm Sunshine at Schoolyard
An old almond tree spreads its branches of love
Leaves shimmering, smiling with the sun's embrace
Now in class, the square yard tranquil and still
Birds on branches chirp, a cold note to fill.
We sit, listening to the teacher's lecture, a poetic thrill
Sunlight creeps, perching upon the classroom sill
Even the wind falls for poetry's spell
Wafting in, mingling, sweetening the teacher's voice.
The whole class sways to each rhythmic choice
Almond blossoms, golden and pure, gently fall
Still springtime, birds chirp, a duet's call
Gliding to the yard, bathing in warm, green hues
I sit quietly, sipping the pure spring's muse
Time seems to halt, ceasing its relentless flight
Space, too, lies still, without a single slight
Unmindful of the warm sun's imminent fade
The vast schoolyard, stretching wide and bright
Proudly boasting its warm sunshine's light
The teacher's words, still flowing deep and bright
Warmed by the gentle voice, the warm sunlight...

11. Untitled
Pen poised to write a poem so fine
Realize it's Teacher's Day, a day divine
Feel ashamed for moments of pride
Just another person, nothing to hide.
Pen poised, first thought in mind
Who's a father, a mother, a teacher kind?
Just fleeting emotions, mundane, not grand...
When will I grow up, understand?
Teacher, I write about you, in “white chalk,” “blackboard”
Again, “respectfully,” “quiet sacrifice” I afford...
Each word aligned, straight as can be
Why twist them into falsehoods, you see?
Lonely bus station, late afternoon
Last bus departing soon
Window howls with the wind's tune
The road home, but where's the boon?
Hazy echoes of bygone days
You, teacher, almost seem to stay
Simple things, so pure and clear
Why does it take so long, I fear?
- Nguyễn Thị Chí Mỹ -
12. A Bouquet for Teacher
For you, with the scent of spring so bright
Days of teaching with all your might
Nurturing generations to stand tall and strong
Your voice in memory, it doesn't belong
Building happiness and love all along…

13. Tribute to Teachers, Unforgettable
Years have passed, now we awaken from our slumber
Soon gone are the days of fondness and care
The joyful days of our schooling era
Drifting away like clusters of white clouds.
We remember well the days of yore, so pure
You taught us each stroke of the pen, every poetic rhyme
You guided us to knock on the doors of life
And the grace of a young woman.
Our souls, a long sadness
You embraced us, caressed us when we cried
Lines on your forehead, wrinkles firm
Gently gazing at us
In our young age, we knew no sorrow
Playfully calling you the 'host' of our 'camp'
And we, the little lambs
You shepherded on the vast pasture of knowledge.
As the final days of our student life draw near
We suddenly realize a tiny thing
A vast and endless love
You bestowed upon these little lambs - us.

14. Flowers and November 20th
The roses of yesteryears
Still sway with vibrant hues
November 20th of that year
My teacher, just twenty years old
My teacher in a white ao dai
A rose pinned in her dark hair
Spring seemed to have arrived too soon
Students eagerly awaiting…
The roses of yesteryears...
Spring has come, my teacher now forty
Her hair turned dusty with chalk
Does she still wear a flower?
The roses of yesteryears...
Where is the white ao dai?
Teachers – the seasons of sweet fruits
I suddenly became a flower.

15. Teachers
Teachers are the stars that light the way
Guiding lights illuminating our path
While Cô, a gentle and precious mother
Whom heaven has bestowed to nurture us
Once a year, only once a year
November 20th, a day for Teachers and Cô
Students decorate with care
Silk scarves, embroidered shirts, gifts galore
Autumn sun shining brightly
Some with lilies, some with daisies so fair
Expressing gratitude and affection
For days of hard work, patience, and care
Now, a few fleeting moments
We gather, honoring Cô, honoring Teachers
A joyful day, teachers surrounded
Wishing them health, nurturing future generations.

16. Gratitude
Autumn fades into winter's embrace
A restless heart recalls, yearns for teachers
Those who impart dreams today
Nurturing wings for us to soar into life
Countless silent journeys
Nurturing seeds of green, a bright future
Beside lesson plans meticulously crafted
Devoting heart and soul through months and years
Every word, every letter, softly spoken
Teaching with earnest dedication and warmth
Weary nights, early mornings, challenging
Many nights suppressing a choked heart
Generations have crossed the river
Teachers always look forward with us
Despite storms raging, quietly illuminating dreams
Today, weaving verses of gratitude
Thanksgiving, boundless and etched
Life's journey, through ups and downs
Through trials and tribulations, deep gratitude remains
Celebrating Teachers' Day today
Offering wishes to teachers everywhere
Peace, happiness, and radiant glory
May homes be filled with warmth and love
Even across countless miles
Heart forever echoes, longing for teachers.

17. Letter to my Literature Teacher
Perhaps by now you've forgotten me
Too many students, how could you remember all?
Far from school now, I've also moved on
But still, I promise to visit.
Perhaps by now the young birch leaf
I pressed in my book has turned to deep brown
Who will pick up my pressed leaf
As I did once, between the pages of poetry?
How I wish... it's just a dream for now
To return to that place
Among friends, embracing arms
To be joyful-sad-laugh-cry innocently
I fondly remember my first literature class
Your words: 'Literature is about humanity'
No one finishes the lesson of becoming human!
We exchanged mischievous glances
Secretly passing around packs of peanuts at the end of class
Now, following the ebb and flow of life
The bitter taste once so familiar on my lips
In moments of sadness, I miss you so much - Oh, Teacher!
The old lesson never grows old...
- Nguyễn Thụy Diễm Chi -
18. Oh, Heaven...
The sky, a myriad of twinkling stars
Glimmering with the dreams of students
The school, sparkling, eyes bright
Shining with the aspirations of teachers...
School, a refreshing stream
Drops of human knowledge
Immerse me in reality
Growing in humanity - pure and noble.
School, my home
Childhood memories linger here
White chalk on blackboard blooms
Teacher's hands waving dreams to fly.
Teachers never raised a hand
The bud remains hidden in the branch
Childhood needs personality
For life to have vibrant hues
Dear teacher, open your arms wide
Hold me tightly to your heart
So my eyes glisten with tears
Sparkling with pearls of love
Dear teacher, your voice so sweet
Now life lacks a lullaby
Love flows on the pages
Cleansing life of pain
Teachers together illuminate
Hope in students' eyes
A thousand stars in the sky of dreams
Shining with poetic eyes.

19. The Glorious Teaching Profession
The teaching profession remains the same
Bidding farewell to students, glory is felt
A noble profession with dignity
Every year, a journey of 'ferrying across' sends heartfelt messages
Yet, not expecting any rewards
No fear of storms or rain
Love, affection, and nurturing bond
Planting trees to bloom evenly
Amidst the changes of dynamic life
The cycle of reincarnation
From cradle to the final closure of eyes, still learning from teachers
No comparison, no boundaries
Love for teachers to show noble talent
Knowledge not limited to anyone
Just diligent self-improvement
Day of dedication, countless times engraved
The bond between teacher and student like parent and child
'A hundred years, stone tablets will wear'
Thankful for the enduring lessons of teachers.

20. Season of Gratitude
November, a season of endless gratitude
Amidst the cold of winter
When birds seek warmth in flight
When life feels like a return to memories
Searching for the footprints of teachers, cherishing countless memories
Revisiting the innocence of mischief from long ago
Oh teacher! I forever seek amidst sun and rain
Seeking a moment of tranquility, seeking a small boat
Seeking your words in yesterday's lectures
Eyes wandering, dust still falls
I long to find a trace of cherished memories
Striving to rediscover the warmth of days gone by
I will return to pick up the fallen branches, the fallen leaves
Wrapping up the love of a naive time
I will return to the warmth of loving embrace
Embracing the folly, sheltered by teachers.
