The film follows the lives of five young people – Phương Hồi (played by Nghê Ni), Trần Tầm (played by Bành Vu Yến), Kiều Nhiên, Lâm Gia Mạt, and Triệu Diệp. The narrative takes viewers back to the carefree days of school, reliving the playful antics and mischievous moments that every student experiences. Life at Zhenhua proves difficult for Cảnh Cảnh. Her test scores are poor, she struggles to understand lessons, and at home, she's burdened by her parents' issues. However, sitting next to Dư Hoài and having good friends by her side makes her high school years feel less lonely. Over three years, the pair grows together, holding onto the innocence and naivety of their youth as they part ways with their teenage years. After graduation, the special boy in Cảnh Cảnh's life vanishes, leaving behind a bittersweet memory. Years later, when they meet again, Cảnh Cảnh reminisces about the promises made back then – promises she still can’t forget, along with the love they shared.

Due to the film's limited runtime, certain emotional beats may not fully resonate with the audience, but overall, the film is still a worthwhile watch for passing time.

This generation has already seen three excellent adaptations of Boys Over Flowers, which is why many fans of the earlier versions have criticized the 2018 remake for not aligning with their expectations. This was a surprising reaction, especially since the producers specifically targeted Generation Z and late 90s kids as the intended audience for the 2018 series.
However, for the younger generation today, the series is quite well-executed. Gone are the exaggerated depictions of school violence, replaced with a more relatable, friendly group of beautiful young people. The pacing is engaging, humorous, and feels in tune with the mindset of today's teens.
