Ton Duc Thang University is a public university in Vietnam, under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. It originated as Ton Duc Thang University of Technology, established under Decision 787/TTg-QD on September 24, 1997, by the Prime Minister of Vietnam. On June 11, 2008, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan signed Decision No. 747/QD-TTg to rename Ton Duc Thang University from a semi-public institution under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to a university under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

In September 2021, the global university ranking system placed TDTU in the Top 500 universities worldwide for the 2022 ranking. This was the first time TDTU appeared in the global rankings. University of Danang – Ho Chi Minh City is located in the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City, one of Vietnam's most developed urban areas. Hanoi University of Science and Technology was established under Decree No. 147/NĐ on March 6, 1956, signed by the Minister of Education, Nguyen Van Huyen. It is the first technical university in Vietnam, initially tasked with training industrial engineers for the construction of socialism in Northern Vietnam and the liberation of the South. The university covers a teaching, research, and meeting area of 26.2 hectares.

Currently, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has approximately 25,000 full-time undergraduate students, 5,000 graduate students, and doctoral candidates, all being taught and guided by 1,250 faculty members, over 600 of whom hold doctoral degrees.
