4. Xoi Lang Phu Thuong
Xoi Phu Thuong is renowned for its rich, aromatic flavor and is a true specialty of Hanoi. Each type of xoi crafted by the locals in the village follows its own unique technique for soaking the rice, blending the ingredients, and controlling the heat while cooking. These careful methods result in a sticky, fragrant xoi that leaves a lasting impression on anyone who tries it. Hanoi’s cuisine is known for its refinement, so to be considered a local delicacy, a humble dish like xoi must meet high standards. The residents of Gạ village invest a lot of effort to perfect their xoi.
Xoi Phu Thuong not only has a deliciously sticky texture but also boasts a variety of colors and ingredients such as black sticky rice, coconut xoi, and gac xoi. The golden yellow xoi is topped with steamed mung bean powder, crispy fried shallots, and a glossy layer of pork fat, making each package of xoi look like a work of art. 5. Xoi Co Dich
Xoi Co Dich is a popular xoi stall in Yen Phu, Tay Ho District, frequented by many locals. It operates daily from 6:30 AM to midnight, with peak hours around 10 or 11 PM, when the place gets crowded and you may have to wait in line. Despite the wait, Xoi Co Dich is one of the few places in Hanoi offering a wide variety of xoi from morning until late at night.
The xoi served here is the traditional white sticky rice, served with a variety of toppings such as sausage, pork, eggs, fried chicken, and stir-fried mushrooms with xiu mai, making for a hearty and filling meal. Along with the xoi, you’ll also get shredded green papaya and fresh herbs to balance out the richness. The only downside to the stall is its small size, so most customers opt for takeout rather than dining in. However, one of the perks is that they stay open late, making it an ideal spot for night owls or those with late-night cravings.
