To avoid being murdered by Impostors in Among Us, crew members must complete common tasks found on each game map. They can identify and vote out Impostors to eject them from the ship. To avoid raising suspicion, Impostors need to act like regular crew members.
Top 5 Sneaky Tips for Mastering the Impostor Role in Among Us
Becoming a skilled Impostor in Among Us demands players to be cautious, strategic thinkers, and crafty enough to earn complete trust. To kickstart your reign of terror as an Impostor, refer to the tactics below.
Tips for Playing the Impostor in Among Us
1. Vote Impartially
Avoiding suspicion is as crucial as eliminating Impostors in Among Us. The easiest way to gain trust is to vote impartially when there is no concrete evidence. Being the lone voter or consistently pushing votes for someone is almost certain to get you ejected in the next meeting.
When in doubt, request crew members to vote for someone but always vote as a group if persuaded. This might lead to voting out an Impostor (colleague) to blend in with the crew, reducing your win rate, but at least you'll still be breathing.
2. Selecting Victims Wisely
It's often best to eliminate crewmates without witnesses, when they're alone... However, during the game, some players may stick together to complete repair tasks, so you'll need to prove your innocence even though Impostors can't complete any tasks.
If you're under suspicion as an Impostor, refrain from attacking someone accompanying you while doing tasks, as you might face well-deserved accusations, and just a few votes can send you packing. Selecting your prey is not a simple task.
3. Ventilation Strategy
As an Impostor, you can utilize ventilation vents to quickly move around any map in Among Us. Only new Impostors can use these movement points, but beware of being caught red-handed if you disappear instantly from a location, be cautious. This movement allows you to eliminate an isolated target near a ventilation vent and immediately sabotage something to lure others in.
This Impostor strategy in Among Us works well on the Polus map. You can kill someone doing the wiring task in the Laboratory, sabotage the lights, then jump into the Lab's ventilation vent to await another victim. However, ensure you don't hide in the ventilation for too long, or other players may vote you out simply because they can't see you around.
4. Eliminate Amidst the Crowd
If you're having trouble finding a lone crew member, kill within a crowd by gathering at least four crew members in an area. This can be achieved by sabotaging lights or connectivity on any map in Among Us.
When people are close together, pretend to perform a repair task for a second or two, then strike someone from behind. The kill will be immediately reported, and it's challenging to discern the perpetrator. Don't overuse this tactic as it requires finesse from the player.
5. Attempt Sabotage, Divide Players
Lastly, if an Impostor with two crewmates or three crewmates battles against two Impostors, you've essentially won the game. All you need to do is sabotage once and coordinate with your teammate to eliminate the remaining players.
Trigger an emergency, such as a reactor meltdown or O2 failure. Both sabotage events force players to split up to address them, meaning someone will be alone, and your opportunity to strike has arrived.
