1. The Sharp Turn at Cat Lai Overpass
This project, costing over 5.7 trillion VND, connects Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai Province. While it alleviates traffic congestion, the sharp turns here have posed significant challenges for many trucks, causing drivers to lose balance, overturn their vehicles on the bridge, and even crash, endangering people below.
Nearly three years after its opening, over a dozen serious accidents have occurred at this turn, leading to casualties and financial losses.

2. The Turn at Dong Van Cong – Mai Chi Tho Boulevard
The limited visibility when turning from Dong Van Cong to Mai Chi Tho always poses a danger to road users. The heavy traffic with various types of vehicles moving at high speeds and making sharp turns often causes accidents, with drivers crashing into those ahead of them.
In the past, this turn was the site of a tragic accident, where a mother and child on a motorbike were struck by a truck making the turn, both losing their lives in a heartbreaking embrace.

3. The Sharp Turn at the Hai Overpass Junction
With an investment of nearly 120 billion VND, the Hai Overpass is a key traffic hub connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the Southeast and Northern provinces. This overpass was designed in a flower-shaped pattern with four circles of 420 meters in diameter, covering an area of 27 hectares. Although it has alleviated congestion during peak hours, the sharp turns leading up to the overpass and almost circular junctions on the bridge make it easy for drivers to lose control and collide with others on the road.
Many tragic accidents have occurred on the Hai Overpass, resulting in fatalities in an instant. One such incident took place at 7:30 PM on November 14, 2016, when Nguyen Thi Diem H. (from Dong Thap) was riding a motorcycle with her mother-in-law, Bui Thi Kiem (from An Giang). As they passed beneath the overpass, a container truck turning right onto the bridge struck them, killing both women instantly.

4. The Turn from Nguyen Van Cu Bridge (District 5) to District 4
In the inner districts of Ho Chi Minh City, the ramp from Nguyen Van Cu Bridge to District 4 is one of the most dangerous turns. The guardrails are too low, vehicles travel in both directions, and the curve is almost a full circle, making it nearly impossible for vehicles to maintain control, resulting in crashes into the bridge.
This poses a huge risk, especially for anyone standing below. One notable accident involved a container truck losing control while descending the ramp from Nguyen Van Cu Bridge to District 4, causing the truck’s cargo to overturn in the middle of the road and blocking traffic for hours.

5. The Turn at An Suong Overpass – National Route 22
The An Suong Overpass, located on National Route 1A at the An Suong intersection, features one of the most dangerous turns, which has claimed many lives over the years.
This hazardous turn is the only route for heavy vehicles traveling to National Route 22 towards Cu Chi and Hoc Mon. The lack of proper visibility, combined with rapid movements and the suddenness of the curve, makes it easy for accidents to happen, especially when motorcycles share the road. On June 25, 2016, a tragic collision occurred at this junction between a container truck and a motorcycle, leaving two women dead at the scene.
