1. Nha Trang Oceanography Institute
The Nha Trang Oceanography Institute, established in 1923, is one of the earliest scientific research facilities in Vietnam. Located 6 km from Nha Trang's city center, it specializes in studying the behavior and lifestyle of marine creatures. Initially managed by the French, it was handed over to the Vietnamese in 1952.
- The Marine Life Museum and the Oceanography Museum are two highlights you must visit. The Marine Life Museum displays over 20,000 specimens of 4,000 marine species. In addition, it showcases freshwater species collected from the Gulf of Thailand, the South China Sea, and Cambodia.
- The Oceanography Museum is famous for its impressive collection of specimens. You’ll find giant whale skeletons, fossils, and much more on display. One of the main attractions is the massive 26-meter-long whale skeleton. As the sea cow population declines, preserving these creatures is a priority, and a sea cow skeleton is also on display here.
- The Nha Trang Oceanography Institute’s museum is an essential stop for any visitor. It houses a rich history of the institute, with exhibits on research projects, maritime equipment, and Vietnam’s fishing history. The museum holds the largest collection of marine specimens in Vietnam and is recognized regionally for its contribution to marine science.
- The Institute’s greenhouse area is full of colorful coral species, offering an amazing photo opportunity. Visitors can learn about marine ecosystems, the importance of the ocean in our environment, and how to protect it. The space also educates children about marine life and conservation efforts. Common algae species here include green, red, and spiral algae, along with crustaceans and primitive species.

2. Trăm Trứng Amusement Park, Nha Trang
Trăm Trứng Tourist Area is one of the largest and most famous mud bath resorts in Nha Trang. It’s not just a place for relaxation through mud baths, but also offers many other activities and a beautiful natural landscape for visitors to enjoy.
Unlike the Tháp Bà mud baths or the I-resort, this tourist site is located in the outskirts of Nha Trang, meaning visitors need to travel a bit farther to reach it. However, it’s only about 8 kilometers away, which is quite manageable! The resort is situated along Nguyễn Tất Thành Boulevard in Phước Đồng, Nha Trang. If you’re visiting with family or a large group, you can take a taxi, and it’ll take around 20 minutes to get there. Since the distance is short, transportation costs are quite affordable.
- Thanks to its location on the outskirts of Nha Trang, this resort spans over 23 hectares. The area is full of lush greenery, offering visitors a refreshing escape from the noisy, polluted city. The resort blends both Asian and European architectural styles, creating a luxurious yet simple and charming atmosphere with plenty of natural spaces. Notably, the paths are lined with coconut and banana trees—two beloved symbols of rural Vietnam.
- The name Trăm Trứng refers to the use of eggs as the central theme here. You’ll find egg-shaped elements everywhere—from the entrance sign to the mud baths, all designed in egg shapes, creating a unique and unforgettable atmosphere!
- Many people associate the Trăm Trứng resort with its famous mud and mineral baths. However, there’s much more to experience here, including a variety of activities and spaces to explore. A visit to Trăm Trứng without trying the mud baths would definitely be a missed opportunity!
- There are about 115 egg-shaped mud baths at the resort, which live up to its name. Each bath measures about 2 meters in diameter and 2.8 meters in height, so there’s plenty of space. The egg-shaped design also features a curved roof to provide shade, allowing guests to relax comfortably. These baths are arranged from the base to the middle of a hill, giving guests a chance to enjoy the warm mineral bath while appreciating the surrounding natural beauty. Besides the mud baths, Trăm Trứng also offers many other attractions for visitors to discover.
- One standout feature is the picnic area, a large grassy space perfect for groups looking to enjoy a weekend outing. There's also the Chăm Pa Street, a replica of the ancient Cham culture and architecture.
- The resort’s dining area is highly rated by visitors. It offers a beautiful setting under a canopy of trees, and the food is delicious. If you’re lucky enough to visit during a holiday or festival, you can enjoy live music performances and other exciting shows. So, don’t rush off early—take the time to enjoy the atmosphere!

3. Hon Mieu Island
Hon Mieu is located in the Trí Nguyên village, Vĩnh Nguyên ward, Nha Trang city. It is one of the most populated islands in the Nha Trang Bay due to its proximity to the mainland. The island’s unique beauty attracts increasing numbers of visitors as part of their Nha Trang exploration.
Hon Mieu is just a short distance from Nha Trang city center. Visitors can reach the island in just 5 minutes by speedboat or 15-20 minutes by wooden boat from the Cau Da port. The name “Hon Mieu” is derived from the local pronunciation of “miếu” (temple) on the island. The temple, located in the southern part of the island, is dedicated to the village's tutelary deity and to Ông Nam Hải (the Sea God). Twice a year, during the spring and autumn festivals, the locals hold ceremonies to pray for good weather and bountiful fishing seasons. During these times, people from nearby islands such as Hon Tam, Hon Mot, and Hon Tre also come to join in the festivities. When you visit Hon Mieu, you’ll not only enjoy its pristine beauty and relaxing beach, but you can also visit two famous tourist spots on the island: the Trí Nguyên Fish Pond and Bai Soi Beach.
- The Trí Nguyên Fish Pond, established in the 1970s, is an artificial pond enclosed by stone barriers. Today, it houses hundreds of rare marine species, including fish and sea turtles, offering an exciting opportunity for visitors to learn about marine life. The indoor pond is divided into three levels. The ground floor contains tanks filled with rare species like sharks, groupers, arowanas, and eels—all over a meter long, making for a fascinating experience. The second floor is dedicated to souvenir shops, and the third floor features a seafood restaurant with fresh meals served right on the spot. The outdoor pond, surrounded by coral stone barriers, is designed to mirror the natural sea level and is home to common fish like mackerel, squid, tuna, and rays, with giant lobsters and shrimps hidden in coral caves. The pond also has a roofed area where visitors can enjoy fishing for leisure.
- Not far from the Trí Nguyên Fish Pond is Bai Soi Beach, facing Hon Tam Island. The locals call it Bai Soi because it’s a pebble beach rather than a sandy one. Visitors can snorkel around the rocky outcrops near Bai Soi to explore coral reefs and sea urchins. You can also visit the floating fish farms, where locals raise groupers and lobsters. For a more unique experience, try riding the traditional round bamboo boats of the local fishermen. With its rustic charm, Hon Mieu remains a beloved destination for those exploring Nha Trang. The island is expected to attract even more tourists in the future.
Admission Fees: 20,000 VND for adults; 10,000 VND for children.

6. Thap Ba Hot Springs
Located approximately 4 km north of Nha Trang city center, behind the Ponagar Tower, Thap Ba Hot Springs offers a wide range of wellness services, with mud baths and hot mineral baths being the main attraction.
- The hot mineral water was discovered in 1994 by the Central Hydrogeological and Engineering Geology Federation (now the Central Water Planning and Investigation Federation). According to health ministry research, the salty hot mineral water and inorganic mud have beneficial effects on human health. As a result, Sao Mai Century 21 Company began bringing the hot spring water (sourced from a depth of 100m) from Vinh Phuong and extracting mineral mud from Ninh Hoa to the Thap Ba Hot Springs resort, creating a unique wellness tourism product—natural hot mineral water and mud baths.
- In 1999, with the support of the Khanh Hoa province, Sao Mai Century 21 started building the Thap Ba Hot Springs center, a project to celebrate the new millennium. After a year of development, the company opened the natural hot mineral water and mud bath services and expanded with leisure activities for visitors coming to Nha Trang for relaxation. Over the last 12 years, mud bathing has become a reputable wellness tourism brand both locally and internationally.
- Thap Ba Hot Springs offers a variety of services such as hot mineral mud baths in private wooden tubs, group mud baths, hot mineral water baths, warm mineral pools, relaxation under the twin waterfalls, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and more. In addition, the center includes barber shops, restaurants, guesthouses, and bungalows that provide both health treatments and leisure accommodations, making it a key destination for tourists visiting Nha Trang.
- Visitors are also drawn to the traditional Vietnamese village setting, with small water ponds, coconut shell scoops evoking a simple rural charm, and the hot mineral water cascading down from the mountainside.
- If you're visiting Nha Trang, Thap Ba Hot Springs is a must-see for both scenic beauty and relaxation, offering therapeutic benefits as well.
