Quang Minh High School was established based on the conversion from Quang Minh Semi-Public High School. Quang Minh Semi-Public High School was established according to Decision No. 1205/QĐ-UB dated June 30, 2000.

Upon its establishment, the school only had 05 teaching staff members in the payroll, including 01 Principal, 01 Vice Principal, 02 subject head teachers, and one Accountant. Other teachers and staff were on seasonal contracts. In the first two years, the school relied on Quang Minh Primary School B and Kim Hoa Secondary School. From the third academic year (2002-2003), the school had its own infrastructure but lacked enough classrooms, and some classes still had to study at Mê Linh High School.
