This isn’t just an issue among the youth, as even older individuals sometimes make these mistakes. Such behavior contributes to the rising number of traffic accidents and fatalities. It’s crucial to strictly follow traffic regulations to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
2. The Importance of Queueing at Movie Theaters and Supermarkets
Though not widespread, there are still instances where people push and shove, refusing to queue properly when visiting supermarkets or movie theaters. This often leads to unnecessary arguments and causes discomfort for those around. One of the basic rules of maintaining public order is to respect the queue—those who arrive first stand first, and those who arrive later wait their turn. Following this ensures fairness for everyone.
3. Following Public Area Rules
Vietnamese people are gradually adopting a healthier lifestyle. However, we sometimes still make basic mistakes in public behavior and interactions, such as speaking loudly, causing disturbances, smoking, or littering. These actions not only affect others but also have a direct impact on ourselves. We must strive to live with more respect and strictly adhere to public rules to help maintain a cleaner and more harmonious environment for everyone.
4. Proper Etiquette When Asking for Directions
Most of us wear masks when going out to protect our health, which is a great practice. However, wearing a mask while asking for directions or engaging in conversation can be seen as impolite. Let’s be considerate and remove our masks when speaking with others, especially when asking for directions. And remember, always thank the person, whether they know the way or not!
5. Protecting the Environment Around Us
Many people seem to have forgotten the importance of protecting the environment, focusing only on their own needs and neglecting the fact that they, too, are affected by the surroundings. Some still have the habit of spitting on the streets or littering, contributing to environmental pollution and degrading the beauty of our spaces. Each of us should dispose of trash in designated places and avoid actions like spitting to help preserve the environment and avoid disturbing others.
6. Public Etiquette on Buses
Buses are a common mode of transportation in Hanoi, especially for students and elderly people. While bus etiquette is clearly displayed on the rules board, some individuals still fail to behave appropriately. Pushing and shoving when boarding or disembarking, not offering seats to the elderly, or talking loudly and making noise are all actions that disrupt the peace. These behaviors, often seen in younger passengers, need to change to create a more respectful and pleasant environment for everyone.
7. Always Be On Time
A common issue in Vietnam is the so-called 'rubber time.' If you're scheduled to meet at 8:00 AM, it's often 8:15 or 8:30 before people actually arrive. This habit needs to change. Waiting for someone who's late can feel uncomfortable, and those arriving late can make others feel awkward. Being punctual is crucial, not only for business meetings but also for social events. Even at small gatherings, it's important to be on time.
