Cột cờ Phú Quý (Phú Quý Flagpole) is our next destination.
Cột cờ Phú Quý, officially known as the Sovereignty Flagpole of the Fatherland on Phú Quý Island, is one of seven flagpoles within the project to build sovereignty flagpoles on islands throughout the country. The project is led by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Student Association, with collaboration from the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV). The remaining six islands in the project include Trần Island (Quảng Ninh), Bạch Long Vĩ (Hải Phòng), Hòn La (Quảng Bình), Cù Lao Xanh (Bình Định), Côn Sơn (Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu), and Thổ Chu (Kiên Giang).
Our next destination is Bờ Kè Ngũ Phụng (Ngũ Phụng Embankment).
Being one of the coastal protection structures often seen in regions prone to the impacts of ocean waves, this nearly 2.5km-long embankment helps safeguard the lives and infrastructure on the island.
The Ngũ Phụng embankment is rocky yet serene and beautiful. During the windy season, it often attracts many foreign tourists for windsurfing. Sitting on the embankment in the evening to watch the sunset over the sea is one of the delightful experiences you shouldn't miss. The area features a relatively small Ngũ Phụng beach with refreshing coconut trees providing shade amidst the summer heat, although it's not suitable for swimming due to numerous rocky patches.
However, the benefits for the local community extend beyond daily life. The Ngũ Phụng embankment also adds to the island's distinctive charm, serving as a romantic and pleasurable destination for nature lovers. It's an ideal spot to admire both the sunset and the river on the island. Gather your friends, hold hands, and await these peaceful moments together.
