In League of Legends, there are many different champions with unique abilities, but not all champions are popular. Sometimes it's because they have unattractive appearances or they are currently too weak, making no one want to play them.
The most neglected champions right now
Underutilized Champions in LMHT 9.20
5. Kog'Maw
As a late-game powerhouse marksman with the ability to deal damage based on the enemy's health percentage and long-range attacks, Kog'Maw's damage potential is incredibly potent. However, playing Kog'Maw requires extremely precise kite management skills, not to mention his true strength only shines when he has at least 3 to 4 items. But nurturing Kog'Maw is extremely difficult as this champion lacks any self-defense abilities and can easily become prey for highly mobile champions in the current meta.
4. Maokai
Since being heavily nerfed, along with the current meta shift where top lane is dominated by high damage champions, Maokai has gradually disappeared from the Summoner's Rift. His predictable skillset, lack of crowd control, and low damage output coupled with poor mobility have led to Maokai's decreased popularity among players. Currently, Maokai is only occasionally picked as a support in the bottom lane, with very few players opting for the Twisted Treant in the top lane.
3. Aurelion Sol
In contrast to being highly favored in Teamfight Tactics, Aurelion Sol is heavily neglected in Summoner's Rift. His predictable skillset, low damage output, and extreme lack of mobility are the reasons why Aurelion Sol is no longer used in the mid lane. In both ranked and professional matches, Aurelion Sol has almost completely disappeared and is rarely chosen.
2. Tahm Kench
Once a top-tier support, Tahm Kench has been heavily overnerfed in his ability to save teammates. Currently, when swallowing an ally, Tahm Kench is heavily slowed down and almost only used to dodge skills rather than being able to move to a safe position. This has directly killed Tahm Kench and indirectly eliminated the strategy of nurturing high-damage but immobile marksmen like Varus or Kog'Maw. Some have tried to take Tahm Kench to the top lane or jungle, but the results are not promising due to his lack of mobility.
1. Skarner
Skarner has been completely removed from the jungle after jungle champions became extremely strong. His poor dueling ability, slow jungle clear, predictable ganking paths, and vulnerability to an item as cheap as QSS are the reasons why Skarner has truly disappeared from the Summoner's Rift with a current pick rate of only 0.8%.
