- The Action Center serves to manage and notify events.
- The Action Center provides quick access to various apps including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, airplane mode, brightness control...
What I regret most in this section is the absence of the ability to toggle 3G on and off.
2. Apps + Store
- Apps and games can now be stored on the SD card. This is a highly anticipated feature in this update. It helps you free up maximum device storage. However, apps on the SD card will only work on one device; if you insert the SD card into another device, those apps will be deleted.
- Installed App Filter: Although small, this improvement yields significant benefits: no need to sift through a vast store to find a few apps matching your preferences. Windows Phone presents them ready for you to view.
- Support for Backing up App + Game Data to OneDrive
- The Facebook app will receive a dedicated update with enhanced features.
- Allows Selection of Automatic App Updates
3. Vietnamese Keyboard TELEX and VNI
Undoubtedly the most favored support feature for the Vietnamese market.
4. Start Screen Wallpaper
This feature, while not significant, is very familiar with every operating system. Now, it has been integrated into Windows Phone 8.1 by Microsoft.
The wallpaper of Windows Phone 8.1 stays still underneath while transparent Live Tiles glide above, creating an interesting effect. Some Tiles, like Xbox Music, Skype, OneDrive, Facebook, retain their default colors instead of becoming transparent.
5. Camera also undergoes certain improvements
- Continuous shooting, with the ability to automatically delete captured photos in continuous shooting mode.
- New interface, larger buttons for easier operation.
- Blur mode for photos
6. Internet Explorer 11 Browser
- Save and remember passwords.
- Upload files to websites via Internet Explorer 11.
- Tabs are displayed independently in multitasking windows.
- Play YouTube videos, support HTML5 videos.
Storage Sense, the new memory management tool in Windows Phone, provides insights into file types and their respective storage usage on our phones. It also facilitates content migration between internal memory and SD card.
9. Separate Ringtone and Media Volume Controls
This long-demanded feature from Microsoft finally arrives with Windows Phone 8.1, offering independent volume sliders for call volume and media playback.
