Major cities like Hanoi, Da Nang, and Saigon are all set to illuminate the night sky with fireworks on New Year's Eve, ushering in the 2018 Lunar New Year.
Top Spots for New Year's Eve Fireworks Viewing
The locations for high-altitude fireworks are predominantly concentrated in the central areas of major cities. The fireworks spectacle is scheduled to kick off from 00:00 to 00:15 on December 16, marking the New Year's Eve of the Year of the Dog. Here are the places hosting fireworks displays across provinces and cities nationwide.
Hanoi
The capital city will host fireworks displays at 30 locations across 30 districts and towns. Notably, 9 high-altitude fireworks sites will be held at: Ho Guom Lake (in front of the new Hanoi newspaper headquarters); Ngoc Khanh Lake; Hoang Cau Lake peninsula; Thong Nhat Park (at the statue island of Ho Chi Minh and Ton Duc Thang); Lac Long Quan flower garden (in front of the district People's Committee); Van Quan Lake; Thanh Tich Park (within the premises of the National Sports Complex in My Dinh); Harmony Lake (Vinhomes Riverside ecological urban area); and the ancient town of Son Tay.
Low-altitude fireworks encompassing 22 sites, will light up the central business districts, stadiums, and central parks of various districts.

Quang Ninh
Quang Ninh plans to have 8 fireworks display points on the New Year's Eve of the 2018 Lunar New Year at 30/10 Square (Halong City); Lake Park, Quang Trung Ward (Uong Bi City); Open-air stage, Cam Trung Ward (Cam Pha City); Ground within the premises of Loi Lai International Hotel (Mong Cai City); Central Stadium of Dong Trieu Town (Dong Trieu Town); Quang Ha Bridge (Hai Ha District); Thong Nhat Urban Area, Cai Rong Town (Van Don District); Tien Yen Town (Tien Yen District).
Da Nang
As usual, residents and tourists can enjoy impressive fireworks displays along the Han River. The launch site is set on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, located between Hai Chau, Son Tra, and Ngu Hanh Son districts. In the outskirts of the city, people can visit the Administrative Center of Lien Chieu District and the Administrative Center of Hoa Vang District.
Hoi An
A low-altitude fireworks show on the Lunar New Year's Eve is set to take place at the An Hoi Sculpture Garden, Minh An Ward, Hoi An City. The funding for this fireworks display is mobilized from social contributions, avoiding the use of the state budget.
Khanh Hoa
On New Year's Eve, Khanh Hoa province will organize fireworks at 7 locations. In Nha Trang, residents and tourists can enjoy the fireworks display at 2/4 Square and the northern part of Hon Chong Temple on the Lunar New Year's Eve. Other locations include Cam Ranh, Ninh Hoa, Cam Lam, Van Ninh, and Dien Khanh.

Da Lat
This year's fireworks program in Da Lat is executed by the city's Military Command, expected to last for approximately 15 minutes at 2 locations: in front of Yersin Park and at the Xuân Hương Lake Wharf. The expenses for this year's fireworks in Da Lat are covered through sponsorship and do not use the state budget or rely on citizen contributions.
Binh Thuan
This year, Binh Thuan province is planning a fireworks display at Le Hong Phong Bridge in Phan Thiet City, La Gi Town Children's House; Vocational Education Center – Continuing Education in Phan Ri Cua Town (Tuy Phong District); Lam Hoa Primary School area (Ma Lam Town, Ham Thuan Bac District); and a launch site on Vo Nguyen Giap Street with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.
Ho Chi Minh City
At the moment of New Year's Eve, Ho Chi Minh City will organize fireworks at 6 locations, including a high-altitude site at the Saigon River Tunnel area (District 2). The remaining low-altitude locations include: Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11), Cu Chi Tunnels (Cu Chi District), Rung Sac Square (Can Gio District), Lang Le – Bau Co Historical Monument (Binh Chanh District), and Ngã Ba Giồng Martyrs' Memorial Site (Hoc Mon District).

Can Tho
High-altitude fireworks will be launched in the area of Hoa Su Restaurant, Ninh Kieu District. Additionally, Can Tho will organize 5 low-altitude fireworks locations, including Thot Not Ward (Thot Not District), Phong Dien Town (Phong Dien District), Thoi Lai Town (Thoi Lai District), Co Do Town (Co Do District), and Vinh Thanh Town (Vinh Thanh District).
Tien Giang
This year, Tiền Giang province has selected 3 locations for fireworks: an open space in front of Vocational School (Cai Lay Town); Cultural and Sports Center (Go Cong Town), and an undisclosed location in My Tho City.
Several other provinces also have plans for fireworks on the Lunar New Year's Eve. For example, Buon Ma Thuot plans to have fireworks at 10/3 Square; Ba Ria – Vung Tau with locations in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria City, Tan Thanh District, Con Dao District; fireworks in Dien Bien Phu will take place at 7/5 Square and the Mường Ang District Center; residents in Ca Mau can enjoy fireworks and celebrate the New Year at Thanh Nien Square.
Many provinces are currently rushing to finalize plans and confirm fireworks locations for the upcoming New Year's Eve.
