Regarding the revamp of the welcome screen, Tor Project states:
'Our previous screen provided users with too much information, leading them to spend a significant amount of time figuring out what to do. Some users in the trial even spent up to 40 minutes due to confusion about what they needed to do. In addition to simplifying the screen and notifications to help users easily understand what they need to configure or note, we also refreshed our brand by incorporating our logo into the launcher.'
Tor Browser updates to version 7.5 with enhanced welcome screen
Tor Project plans to revamp the user interface based on user trials. This will enhance the overall experience, making the software more accessible to users. Additionally, the development team aims to make the program easier for users to use.
In addition to the user interface, Tor Browser 7.5 also integrates Tor 0.3.2.9, the first version in the 0.3.2 series. This new Tor series is significant as it supports next-generation Onion services with enhanced security features.
The development team has also implemented additional security enhancements for Tor Browser, enabling sandboxing on Windows and improving the hardened compiler on macOS. Furthermore, the project has transitioned to using reproducible builds, which security experts can utilize to verify the legitimacy of the binary files provided by the Tor Project.
