Toyota Introduces Electric Pickup Concept, Hilux, in Thailand
Hilux Revo BEV is the precise name that Toyota has chosen for the conceptual vehicle they unveiled during the 60th-anniversary celebration in the thriving Thai automotive market. Developed based on the current Hilux pickup frame, it features exterior tweaks for a more 'electric' look.Toyota presents a white pickup on stage with an extended cargo bed. The front of the vehicle is the most distinctive feature, being flatter and smoother. Compared to current electric pickup models like GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, F-150 Lightning, or Tesla's Cybertruck, Toyota's representation in this segment appears more subdued and less pronounced. Of course, this is still a concept. Toyota hasn't disclosed specific details about this new model or shared plans for its commercialization.
Toyota's CEO, Mr. Akio Toyoda, believes that through various means, the Japanese brand will progress towards a emission-free future. This could involve hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrids, or those utilizing biofuel cells. Given Thailand's strong preference for pickup trucks, it's not surprising that Toyota chose this location as the first to introduce their concept. In this country, the best-selling pickup is currently the Isuzu D-Max.Source: carscoops
