Last week, a 20-year-old mother had to appear in court in Hastings, New Zealand, facing charges for causing the tragic death of her 10-week-old son. She allowed her child to co-sleep, despite knowing the life-threatening risks.

Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics reveals that 74% of the 8,200 cases of infant deaths related to sleep, in infants under three months old, were due to co-sleeping with adults.
This is not the first case in the United States where infants have tragically suffocated while co-sleeping with their parents. Authorities, scientists, and doctors have repeatedly warned parents about the dangers of co-sleeping with infants.
Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics analyzed 8,200 cases of infant deaths related to sleep, in infants under three months old. Among them, approximately 74% of cases where infants died were due to co-sleeping with adults.
